Why are some airports like ghost towns?

So why is Rob evidently seeing plenty of Jet2 planes at the airport?

I’m on my third year with that combo - it’s great.

  • As far as In know with AIGTC, every landed aircraft would stay at it's last arrival airport until it's next flight. So with business jets for instance, you could park them for days on end. With PSXT a

I do have MSFS 2024 AI turned off and using AIGTC (injected).

But clearly several of those AI aircraft need maintenance, they don’t have any landing gear 🙂

I would be interested to know if any MSFS 2020 users see the number of AI planes at EGNM Leeds Bradford that can be seen in Rob's screenshot.

Differences in what injectors you are using. Are you using the free option from PSXT?

PSXT doesn't have parking radius issues that every other injector has.

Here's a screenshot from 0720 Aug 23 with PSXT. I picked a Saturday morning figuring it would be somewhat busier.

Dave,

If you're referring to the option of using PSXT without a RealTraffic license, that option is not available any longer. I believed it was removed from v10.1.0 onwards.

Oh? I had no idea that it was removed as an option.. Still trying to figure out what he's using to inject as that is the key to not showing any traffic.

I don't think any of those 3 airports are going to have much traffic during the summer at least. Leeds would be busiest of them with somewhere near 10 overnighters to depart in the early morning (140ish movements/day) and Cardiff will be a trickle of traffic, 8 departures between 7am to 4pm tomorrow with 10 arrivals in that same time period (42 movements/day). Girona splits them with around 80 a day.

The ade overlap parking issue that Asobo introduced was a horrible idea and they haven't backed off from it still and is probably one of the big reasons you don't see as much traffic as you should. One of the biggest reasons I moved to PXT.

Today

EGFF - 34 MOVEMENTS

EGNM - 132 MOVEMENTS

LEGE - 72 MOVEMENTS.

This is something that is starting to annoy me. No matter what time of the day or week that I visit certain airports, there are hardly any AI planes parked there. There are three that I can name without even thinking about it...

  • EGNM Leeds Bradford - I use the IniBuilds version, but the default airport has the same lack of AI planes
  • EGFF Cardiff - I use the Gaya handcrafted version, but the same applies to the UK2000 version of the airport
  • LEGE Girona Costa Brava - I have the MK Studios version installed, but I cannot remember seeing more than one AI plane parked there

There are probably more that I cannot remember off the top of my head, but those three are important airports for me. I want to see the correct AI planes that are supposed to be there at specific times, but it seems to me that something is stopping all of them from being displayed. EGNM Leeds Bradford in particular should have the entire back wall full of Jet2 planes early in the morning, but the most that I ever see are three, and these are always at Gate 6/7/8. Not a single airliner parked at Gates 9 through 21.

So what on Earth is happening here? Do other users see plenty of AI planes at these airports? If so, I do not understand why they are not appearing for me. It does not make any sense  For the record, I have the entire massive database of AIG planes and flightplans installed.

They need static aircraft, but even more they need more elements of life such as hangars with open doors. Open doors with contents in the hangars.  Tool chests, hand tugs, lockers, table and chairs. etc. Those elements are now present in available scenery object libraries. Hangars with open doors with aircraft parked inside and some human traffic, even if static.

So many still look like they are cast back in the midst of the pandemic, where the sidewalks never unfolded in the mornings, and we all avoided each other all day.

This was interesting ... I decide to try PSXT + RealTraffic (Pro subscription) + AIG (models)

Well, I guess I'm gonna stay with PSXT + RealTraffic + AIG.

Only issue I noted is that PSXT will sometimes terminate when I "end flight" so if I move to another airport/location I need to remember to restart PSXT.  Good news is that PSXT doesn't need RealTraffic to run, it will just load your RealTraffic key/license info and connect to RealTraffic server ... but RealTraffic is a subscription ($100-$200/yr).

Call me impressed with this combo of products.

PSXT is the only way to go if you want good traffic. It's not without it's faults, but they are tiny in comparison to the other options and the benefits are awesome.

agreed. not to mention if you use real traffic you can use it for xplane as well

What do you mean by  “good traffic”? It literally provides the same, or less traffic than AIG schedules do, especially in parts of the world where their (PSX) coverage is poor.

Don't get me wrong, AIGTC and FSLTL are both very good as well.

I just mean traffic that parks where it should in the correct livery to the registration. Each gate is occupied with the proper aircraft, no skipping gates or parking spots thanks to Asobo's extra AI aircraft radius ring. Traffic that takes off, then lands, exits and taxis at the correct speeds with actual ATC separation. Seeing one short final and as soon as it goes by an aircraft waiting at the hold that next departure is lining up, maybe even from an intersection and rolling as soon as the landed has exited.
No overshoots unless the flight actually went around irl. Never using the opposite direction runway or wrong  taxiways. No overtakes and passing each other on the same final approach course.

But there's also ferry or repositioning flights, random charters, and medevacs. Random ga doing circuits and local sightseeing. I have a limited amount of AI helicopters in my sim that operate exactly as they do in the real world. If we had the models, I'd see YVR's local float plane ops as well. There's also the bizjets, yes you get more of them with AIGTC but just the idea that you are seeing a live flight even those that are blocked on FR24 adds so much to the sim. There's also something so much more special when taxiing in or out of whatever airports and seeing the various sports charters, or say Max Verstappen's or Taylor Swift's Falcon or Ronaldo's G650. You don't even have to be fans or anything, but just happening upon one offs like that adds so much more than knowing that the flight was just randomly programmed in to fill a pairing or airport.

In the winter, you have accurate ques to and while on the  deice pads. In low/reduced vis you get actual Cat II/III runway separation and surface movements.

Yes you can most often get more traffic using AIGTC or FSLTL etc, but there's so much more to it than sheer numbers.

Where surveillance coverage isn't that great, which luckily is only in certain regions then you use the alternative options. It's not without it's faults for certain, but they are overcome by how much more real everything is.

But once you have gotten used to using PSXT and Real Traffic, it's VERY VERY difficult to go back to anything else.

 Just my 2 cents anyways.

Why would AIGTC or FSLTL have more traffic than PSXT? Presumably, PSXT has the correct volume of traffic, since it is copying the real world movements? What is Real Traffic? What does this add over and above PSXT?
