FS 20245 and MOZA with Force Feedback...

Is Force Feedback worth it in Flight Simulation??? - YouTube

Flying gliders since 1980

Flightsimming since 1992

AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

Interesting. Judging from the Settings utility, apparently Moza has some kind of FS Force baked into their drivers. But I'd have liked to see the operation during handflying, while trimming and all that stuff. I mean, in 25 minutes of video, the pilot never touched the trim at all!

But honestly, I'm more interested in the stick combo (base+stick+twist axis addon). Last time I used force feedback, it was with an old Logitech Force 3D Pro.

Main rig: self built, AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D (with SMT off and CO -50 mV), 2x16 GB DDR4-3200 RAM, Nvidia RTX 5060Ti 16GB, 256 GB M.2 SSD (OS+apps) + 2x1 TB SATA III SSD (sims) + 1 TB 7200 rpm HDD (storage), ID-Cooling SE-224-XTS air cooler, Viewsonic VX2458-MHD 1920x1080@120-144 Hz (G-sync compatible), Windows 11. Running P3D v5.4 (with v4.5 scenery objects as an additional library, just in case), FSX-SE, MSFS2020, MSFS2024 and even FS9! Lossless Scaling for all my sims. What a godsend...

Mobile rig: ASUS Zenbook UM425QA (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H APU @3.2 GHz and boost disabled, 1 TB M.2 SSD, 16 GB RAM, Windows 11 Pro). Running FS9 there .

VKB Gladiator NXT Premium Left + GNX THQ as primary controllers. Xbox Series X|S wireless controller as standby/mobile.

As the owner of a Brunner yoke, I’d say it would be more worthwhile if MSFS had native FFB support.

I'm surprised this thread hasn't received more attention, as this is one of the most affordable FF solutions I've seen.  Your comment about trim resonated with me as well since realistic trim behavior is the thing I would value most in a well-implemented FF setup.  In looking for other reviews on this yoke I came across this comment in a reddit discussion.  When asked specifically about trim, the topic starter wrote:

"From what I can tell, at least with my settings, the control forces get lighter in the trim direction and the yoke physically moves. Trim nose up, the yoke is pulled further back towards you, and vice versa. I don’t think this is how it was on the initial release, but it follows the trim now, and it feels good."

Others, however, noted struggling with settings in the Moza software.

I got one about 2 weeks ago.  The trim issue is real.

There's much to like about it.  The movement is smooth and has an aircraft "feel" to it.  When sitting on the runway without moving, it feels very real.  Also, lots of buttons which are useful.  When you fly with it, you feel very much that the yoke is part of the plane.  Really nice haptics...bumps, buffets, vibrations.

But, back to that trim issue.   Ugh, you have two choices.  1)  Heavy, difficult to move yoke where you can feel the trim or 2). light touch yoke where you can't.  Also, even if you feel the trim, it's the same strength no matter how far you move from trim center.  You can turn down the "weight" (the force that makes the yoke movement 'heavy' and requires muscle) to something realistic for a mid or light airplane but then you can't feel the trim.  Or you can turn up the weight and then you feel the trim but it takes muscle to pitch...quite a bit of muscle.  (I used to fly Cessnas and Pipers with a finger and a thumb.)  The heavy weight is probably fine for airliners but for light and mid sized aircraft it's way too much.  Also, the "rubber band" strength should increase the further you are from trim center...pretty much like a non-FFB yoke does. So, no, not realistic.  Sometimes the yoke behaves as if you have aileron trim put in...it "pulls" left or right.  I have no explanation for that...very, very rare for me to use aileron trim.  So, to the point:  has potential, but needs a lot of work.  My simple advice to them is this:

1) Implement basic trim first.  Make the trim work as well as a basic non-FFB yoke and then improve on that.
2) Make the trim center move and have adjustments for stronger or weaker "springs".
3) Add "weight".
4) Have real pilot betas.

They're working on it.  I haven't gone back to my old yoke (been tempted).  Truth is, I hate tweaking to try to get it more realistic.  I just want to fly the plane.  So, love-frustration.  Best I can describe.

Thanks for your input, Gregg  (and good to hear from you - been a while).  From your comments and others I've found, it sounds like it has potential but is still a work in progress, especially relative to a realistic trim simulation.  Hope they can eventually address that as, all other things considered, realistic trim force is still the number one reason I'd consider investing in a FF yoke.

Thanks again,

Scott

MSFS needs to add native FFb support. That will really change the feeling.

9800X3d, 4090, 64 GB DDR5 6000 RAM, 4 TB NVME (2x2), 4K Ultra + Framegen

I'll update the thread if they make improvements or I find improvements on my own.  I just did an approach and it was a fight keeping the Longitude on final...a real workout.  But, the flair was amazing.  The connection between the yoke and the sim was amazing in that moment.  That's what I mean about love-frustration.

So, is this on Asobo's list of "todos"?  And if so, when is it supposed to be baked in and...  Seems like a 3rd party could make that patch-through capability... hmmm....
