September 4, 2025Sep 4 Good morning, Is there a way to extend the TLOD settings in MSFS 24 like it was possible in 20 by editing the usercfg.opt? It seems that i cant find the entry... September 4, 2025Sep 4 Author I get your point and i dont want to see sharp till the horizon. But i would like to see sharp just a little more far than stock. Its just a personal taste. September 4, 2025Sep 4 You can easily adjust the LoDFactor in userCfg.opt to suit your preferences. I personally use the MSFS2024 Editor to modify the file—it’s a straightforward tool that makes tweaking settings a breeze. You can download it from this link: MSFS2024 Editor
September 4, 2025Sep 4 Usercfg.opt is pretty much the same as in FS2020. However, it seems that the built-in "Dynamic settings" is unable to drop the TLOD to a factor lower than 0.5 regardless of the TLOD set. This would imply terrible stuttering on the ground at large airports if you set your TLOD above 400. A better option in my opinion is AutoFPS with the Auto TLOD expert setting. In this way you can have Terrain LOD=50 on the ground (TLOD base) and TLOD up to 900* above a set altitude AGL. *900 was the limit in MSFS, I don't know if it's the same in '24. 7800X3D | 2x32 GB DDR5-6000 CL32 | RTX 5080 | Alienware OLED 34" | 1 Gbps fiber
September 4, 2025Sep 4 Get msfs auto fps. There’s a TLOD option that gives you up to 1000 and it will change it based on altitude and what not. It’s simple and I use it. Changed 2024 for me to where I finally got off of 2020. Game changer. On the ground not so much, but that is the beauty of AutoFPS.

Based on geographic location, temperature, time of the day, season, and altitude, you might be pleasantly surprised to see "sharp till horizon". For sure, not in Delhi or Mumbai, where you have about 2-4 miles of visibility when descending through 10 K. 747 Captain for the last 39 years, and still learning.

That is an option as well but there are other triggers that will change settings that you can choose within the app. It also can change settings based off of VRAM but you need GPU-Z for that too.
