Not realistic, just better, preferable.

Please do share your perspective - nothing better than first hand experience! 👍

Wasn't my quote you replied to. As I said I can see an argument that the avionics switch might fit better on the tablet but I think the headphones mode is better as a switch on the panel than in the tablet.

Also I struggle to understand how people can think having an extra switch on the panel is unrealistic or 'game' like whereas a tick box on a magic tablet is realistic? 😄

I prefer cockpit rendition as realistic as possible . I also like “clean” concept when all game options are hidden in the tablet.

Tick box in tablet is way more realistic because it remind me invoice I get from my mechanic that looks like that lol

Wow, I read this and thought what?? I am training irl in the PH-0B6, a Ikarus Comco C42 in EHST. Sad that it is not there in MSFS.

I couldn't find another post on this new LSA release, but in case there is one, I'll apologise now before someone like Reader throws a handbag at me 😄
..

I'll come on to an area that I'm personally not keen on now - the engine sounds.  The ambient and switch sounds are fantastic but the engine sounds do not match with my experience in the type.   It just doesn't sound enough like a Rotax to me!  There is a very notable prop component to the engine sound, which sounds good in the air, but not on the ground and idle or < 4000rpm.  It just sounds a little dull and flat at high RPMs, rather than the scream of the 5800rpm-spinning engine at full engine speed.    The headset simulation could also be a lot better - all it does is reduce the engine sound volume.   Better headset simulations (like A2A) reduce specific frequences such as the mid-range, leaving a satisfying if muted bass sound, and the crisp edge of the high frequencies.   To be honest, I have 'aliased' the sounds in my own copy of the aircraft with the default sounds from the Asobo DV20, which I still believe is the best rendition of a Rotax engine in the sim.  (The FSReborn Sirius TL-3000 is also a fantastic depiction of the Rotax).

Curious how you copied the DV20 sounds?

Go into the A32's aircraft.cfg file at:-

Community\gotfriends-aeroprakt-a32-2024\SimObjects\Airplanes\GotFriends_Aeroprakt_A32\common\config

Because this is native MS2024 and uses the modular system, there is only one [FLTSIM.0] section in the aircraft.cfg  (the replacement sound will be applied to all liveries)

Within that [FLTSIM.0] section, change;

sound = ""

to

sound = "\..\..\..\asobo_dv20\common\sound"

File and save.  (Make a backup of the aircraft.cfg first).

Having said that, I have now aliased the FSReborn Sirius TL-3000 sounds to the A32, as they sound most realistic for this aircraft, to my ears.

Got Friends really have to improve the Headset simulation in the A32.   It's really poor.  I noticed that it actually reduces engine sound gain from the outside view of the aircraft, as well as the cockpit view!   That confirms that all it is doing is reducing the engine sound gain, and doesn't care whether you're in cockpit or external views.

Hence I've dropped the Got Friends sounds and replaced them with the FSReborn Sirius's amazing sounds.   I've lost the headset mode but given it's limitations as above, that's no real loss.

The best headset simulation I've seen is in the A2A Comanche.   It's just divine. Sounds so much like a real scenario where you have a decent headset on (has standard and ANR modes too).   And it doesn't affect the external view sounds!

Yeah, a good C42 would be nice as well, it's a very popular microlight. If you're interested in trying out the PH-0B4, shoot me a PM 👍

To Clarify,

Those switches are primarily used to provide clear clickspot and tooltip information. At the time the aircraft was developed, we did not have a robust clipboard or tablet system, so we needed a simple way to show users which PMS or TDS avionics package was installed.

That functionality is also deeply integrated into the aircraft’s backend avionics deconfliction. The switch helps ensure that multiple avionics packages do not remain active and interfere with one another. I understand that the implementation may not appeal to everyone, but the switches themselves are not fictional.

On the real Aeroprakt A-32, the factory provides two spare switch and fuse positions for optional equipment when panel space allows. They are intended for owner-installed accessories such as additional lighting, avionics, or other electrical equipment.

Because the remaining switches on the panel already correspond to real aircraft functions, those two spare positions were the logical place for us to add MSFS-specific features. Visually, the switches are realistic and reflect the factory panel. Their assigned functions are less traditional, since our team deliberately used them for convenience features aimed at the average simulator user.

Assigning them to avionics selection and headphone simulation allows the user to flick a physical switch rather than navigating through several additional clickspots or referencing a notepad.

If the main concern was that the switches were invented for the addon, rest assured that they are real spare switch positions found on the aircraft. Their presence should not detract from the visual authenticity of the cockpit. That said, I understand if you disagree with how we chose to use them.

However, those switches will remain in their current roles for the foreseeable future because we do not currently need them for additional equipment, electrical circuits, or system upgrades. If two new systems are added in a future update, their functionality may change to support those systems instead.

That is ultimately what the factory intended them to be: auxiliary switches reserved for owner-selected upgrades and additional equipment.

The Got-Friends A32 is my all time favourite LSA in the sim, but I'm a little confused by this statement, as the product already has a clipboard... used for other options?

There’s a new Burning blue designs rendition of Netherthorpe Airfield just released, I flew out of there a bit in the distant past. I was planning on buying it this morning and taking the mini-max up, but this thread revival has made me think I’ll take the excellent Vixen up instead!

Looking forward to the Taylorcraft release too, not a big fan of tail draggers generally but it looks to have a great vintage character.

+1

I hate taildraggers! but will make an exception for the Taylorcraft 😎 I've been checking the GF website daily, anticipating it's release.

I just bought the Minimax 1500R today and it's a beautiful addon..... but on landing, I just cannot track straight on the runway... ever (even with no wind at all). I land it straight but the moment I apply even a tiny amount of steering on the rollout, it darts off 90 degrees to the left and I end up on the grass!

Any tips?

I’ve never seen that to be honest so don’t know what to suggest, it’s always been well behaved for me.

Normally my take off and landing distance are only 20 meters so it doesn’t have time to go sideways. I hope you find the root cause as it’s a fun little machine.
