MS Servers Yet Again

The code they write was always full of security vulnerabilities, the UI's were terrible (see teams today, Skype before), and generally they employ way too many junior developers. In my opinion of course!

Any code is exposed to security vulnerabilities. Your answer to my question and although I do respect your 30 years experience, is still way off from you labeling MS as "poor programmers".

I'm a programmer/developer myself with more than 30 years of experience in the medical industry. All I have for Asobo/MS is respect for the work they do. Coding (as you well know with your 30 years of experience) is not easy, it takes large amounts of time for testing/debugging, what they both have done with MSFS 2020 and 2024 is brilliant to say the least.

You and I with all the 60+ years of experience, wouldn't be able to achieve what Asobo and MS have done with MSFS franchise. So I belive they do deserve ours and this community's respect. Lets us instead steer our criticism to be more objective.

Fair enough. I respect your opinion.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

I sell wireless and run a 30' Cat6 cable to my sim machine still 🙂

Not saying wireless isn't adequate but I have 70 other devices competing for wifi including all of the TV's streaming so I prefer a direct connect without competing for a shared medium (airspace)

What BW do you have that they are saying inadequate?

My D/L speed is 465.32. U/L speed is 410.57 with a latency of 18ms. But what happens is 2024 literally disconnects from the internet and my system will only reconnect once I shut down the sim. Plug in the cable and it's smooth sailing.

Yeah, your speeds are fine, wow, that's a strange one, going to have a think as to what could cause it.

What's your wireless setup out of curiosity?   Mesh?  Single Router?  Yours or Service Providers?  Any A/V or firewalls in use?

It almost sounds like something is actively terminating that connection for some reason, now the question is why...

Single router, service provider. Defender firewalls were on but turning them off didn't change anything. But I take your meaning that it's an external matter and maybe not the sim itself.

I wish you were closer I'd be over there with my wireless analyzer LOL.

In the interest of KISS have you tried after rebooting the router?  Like powering it down, let it sit for a minute or two and then power it back up and try again?

The other option is the wireless on the PC end, is it integrated wireless on the M/B?   You could always try a USB wireless dongle if you have access.  Rule that out as well.

If it's not worth it to you and too much frustration I totally understand, I won't be insulted at all but the ex-engineer in me before they cut off my technicals when I moved into sales still likes to fix things LOL

Cheers

I appreciate the suggestions...no it's not a huge deal (except when my wife trips over the ethernet cable.)

Thanks, Paul!

The behaviour you're describing sounds like your wifi card is crashing / disconnecting under load. The person I linked fixed it with updated drivers, which may or may not be the fix for you.

https://superuser.com/questions/1699167/wifi-disconnects-when-system-process-takes-lot-of-cpu

Some wifi cards/adapters are just flakey.

Here's another - https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/749900

Most likely your standard internet usage is not enough to kill the card, but when you load up MSFS the combination of high CPU + high network traffic crashes the driver.

I would try looking for updated drivers, and if that didn't work, just buy a good quality USB wifi adapter. I'm using this on another work PC and it works fine, but any good quality adapter should do

MSI AXE5400 WiFi 6E USB Adapter.

Good luck.
