The PMDG 737NG High Detail Update: MSFS 2020 vs MSFS 2024
You had me at the coffee maker 🙄

"Your Bandwidth is too low" - MSFS 2024
For me the fix was to get into my router using it's settings to change it from 2.4 GHz to 5GHz. I can't tell you why that worked but it has freed me from the cursed blue cable...

PMDG 737-800 Set To Release 2025/12/18
Whether or not the 2024 version is worth whatever PMDG will be charging is in the mind (and the wallet) of the beholder. It will undoubtedly be a huge success but also a huge disappointment for those who've already decided such. If I had a dime for every thread complaining about PMDG as a new product draws near to release...I'd have a lot of dimes. The confirmation bias is strong on both sides of the PMDG aisle.

MS Servers Yet Again
I appreciate the suggestions...no it's not a huge deal (except when my wife trips over the ethernet cable.) Thanks, Paul!

MS Servers Yet Again
Single router, service provider. Defender firewalls were on but turning them off didn't change anything. But I take your meaning that it's an external matter and maybe not the sim itself.

MS Servers Yet Again
My D/L speed is 465.32. U/L speed is 410.57 with a latency of 18ms. But what happens is 2024 literally disconnects from the internet and my system will only reconnect once I shut down the sim. Plug in the cable and it's smooth sailing.

MS Servers Yet Again
And here I sit in my virtual cockpit, knowing that I'll never be able to start ms2024 without a 25' ethernet plugged into my router/modem in my living room. Stranger still is that until I installed 2024, I never had connection issues with 2020. But alas both sims now require the blue leash. Asobo tells me I lack the bandwidth yet my specs have never prevented me from running other similarly complex apps. So, it's my fault...yes I'm sure that's the answer

Carenado Premier IA
Me: "I'm never going to buy another Carenado aircraft. This time I really mean it" Carenado: "I've got a new airplane" Me: "Yes, master. New airplane. Must buy now"

Yes Virginia, the 2024 GUI Screens are Appalling
I wish the UI was the worst problem in my life. Alas, real life beckons and I must pay the mortgage, etc...

CESSNA CITATION CJ3+ (2020/2024) "coming soon"
I hope you can turn off the cheeseburgers in the back...I don't want slobs on my airplane!

LivtoAir Citation CJ3+
Yeah, I'd really like to see an old school analog Citation. The glass is cool but I already have a few of those... Maybe Black Square could be sweet-talked into it!

CPU Heat vs Fan Speed
Starlifter60 replied to Starlifter60's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcI have a CLX Quench 360 cooler. The BIOS is original v1 so it's definitely due for an upgrade. The mystery is now the number of cores. Everything on my system says 12 cores but since reading your reply I learn that cores are routinely "hidden". I've not done anything in the BIOS or4 other settings. Time to hit the Googleverse... Thaks for pointing that out to me.

CPU Heat vs Fan Speed
Good day! I have a question about CPU temps and fan speed. My 14900KF seems to be running a bit hot to my uneducated eye while flying MS2020 using the Core Temp app. Fresh install of the sim, empty community folder and flying the default 172 with no traffic, etc... Fans and case are spotless. All 12 cores will generally run around 50-65C but all will spike at 100C at one point or another. My concern is that the sim has lately been not just been crashing but causing a system shutdown/restart. I do run the sim at very high settings but my system should be able to handle that. My 4080 Super runs cool as a cucumber. So my question is this: Are these 100C spikes worrisome in your opinion and would it be a good idea to set my fans to run full speed to help keep those temp spikes in check? Thanks for any and all advice! Brian

Review of 2024 2 months after launch.
Having resolved my bandwidth issues, (really their bandwidth issues), I can at least make a complete flight as long as I sit at a certain angle, keep my right foot elevated and don't yawn or blink. I can live with the CTDs, annoying as they are, understanding that this cake isn't fully baked yet. But when it reboots my system mid-flight, that's when I fear satan has entered the building. Or maybe I'm not elevating my right foot high enough. My research continues...

Should we all put 2020 back on hard drive?
I never removed MSFS2020 from my system. I really want MSFS2024 to be my "fly or die" but the low bandwidth issue is a buzz kill. Even with an ethernet cable, my ability to get past this is negligible. But...I'm patient

Dead End
If you fall out of a boat, you're going to get wet. If you buy a new flightsim, you're going to get frustrated. Both have nearly identical odds of being true. MSFS2020 was the death knell of the franchise, remember? Years later, many of those doomsayers are clutching their pearls over 2024 and declaring that they're "leaving the building" as it were. I have 2020 running like greased lightning yet I still jumped into the 2024 fray (because I can quit anytime I want to, ha ha... 🤔). I'll spend a little time on `24 until I get frustrated or impatient, then go back to the safe confines of `20 which will do whatever I want and be predictably reliable. I'll then spend a little more time on `24, and figure out a few more things there and be just a little less frustrated. I'm getting more comfortable and less frustrated as the days go by. I'll keep `20 up and running until 3rd party content (especially AI traffic) is as dominant on the new sim as it is on the old one. Learning the new key mapping is a bit of a curve and I now own a 25ft ethernet cable (which I haven't needed lately) but I have confidence `24 will get the kinks worked out. A year from now, I predict many of those who have "left the building" will be back on the ramp. Still complaining...but back on the ramp. Happy Holidays to you all! Brian

Shared Servers?
Silly question time...do MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024 utilize the same servers? I ask this question because my previously lightning fast 2020 installation now won't stay online at all ever since 2024 was released. I know the internet disconnect issue has been around forever and I'm a veteran of the frequent disconnected/reconnected messages. With no changes to my rig or setup, the connection dies as soon as my aircraft loads and stays down until I shut down the sim. The good news is that an ethernet cable solves the problem. I'm just curious if other 2020 simmers have experienced this. Is Asobo trying to push both sims through the same servers? Is this even an legit question? Just wanting to learn... Brian

MSFT server issues statement - blue skies ahead!
Agreed. When was the last FS roll out that went smoothly? It'll be fine.

Glad to still have a perfectly working MSFS2020... oh no...
Southeast U.S. here as well. My "new" bandwidth issues on 2020 actually popped up a couple of days prior to the 2024 release after three years of flawless performance. No new addons or mods...Now my 2020 is about as useless as doorknobs on a brick. Aggravating but I'll remain hopeful this will all get ironed out. If not, there's always DCS and Black Mesa 😆

MSFS 2024 has been released!
I'm waiting to see if the "no internet connection" situation will be present in 2024 as it surely hasn't been resolved for 2020. I'm ready to go but there's little point in upgrading if the new sim is similarly strangled. We'll see.....

iFly 737 Max cabin and cockpit walkthrough video
Not a realistic wish but I'd love to see an in-depth DC-8 or 707 with the JT3s. No push button flying there!

Your bandwidth is too low... this is getting ridiculous
For what it's worth, when I use map enhancement (Bing latest option) I get zero low bandwidth issues. With default, I get 100% fail every time.
