FSReborn Returns With a Stunning Preview of its Phenom 300E

Not a lot of fuel, but not empty either ... I think 1 passenger 180 and about 40 cargo as I recall ... no arrestor hook either.  Specs for Aerostar 600 landing distance is 1040-1230 ft ... as you can see I stopped in about half that distance.  Takeoff is 1,550 ft to 1,950 ft, ... the carrier is about 1100 ft I believe.

I'll be surprised if I can't do the same with the Phenom 300E.  Gotta take the MSFS 2024 flight physics with a grain of salt, especially ground friction.

Maybe with a Pilatus PC-24!

  • Really don't like the style of cInEmAtIc video as they are just done to death now.... Everything is 'cinematic'!  Would rather have heard the aircraft sounds to date, than royalty-free library music.

  • I am so excited about this addon.  I'm betting the systems depth will exceed the C700 which I'm a huge fan of.  I think the E55P is a bit slower but the climb rate is pretty awesome.  And I'm certain

The PC-24 doesn't have much of an edge over the Phenom in takeoff distance -- only just over 100 feet:

Phenom 300E: 3,209 feet

PC-24: 3,090 feet

It's rather close in landing distance too.  Great airplane.

Those are under standard conditions though

Oh, sure. (Also, those distances are over a 50-foot obstacle, not ground roll.) I was just going for a relative comparison between the Phenom 300E and the PC-24.

Yes, as I thought.

So, this is what I was talking about when I said, we’d have to dip into very light GA or very special STOL airframes (either of which come with severe limits)”

the parameters turn this into an impractical stunt.

And anyone could trump it with any number of minimally loaded, light, small airframes, plus helicopters and blimps, etc

where’s the challenge…?

which then begs the question, why use a carrier at all? Why not grease into some tiny jungle strip or dirt road, as this airframe is somewhat infamous for…?

Or at least use an IRL carrier aircraft, where the parameters make it ever so much more challenging?

or if we’re trying to impress, then something that did actually happen, such as the C-130 trials, etc?

I mean, do what you like, but don’t brag about silliness…

Not sure what you mean? The Aerostar is neither?

Sure, but where's the fun in that?

Because it's... an aircraft carrier! 🤪

Why not indeed? You do you!

Because that can evidently be done reasonably safely, whereas you'd have to be pretty bananas to try and get an Aerostar onto and off an aircraft carrier in real life.

The sim allows us to have some pointless, silly fun. Not everyone's cup of tea -- that's fine!

The Aerostar is a very light GA vs an FA-18 Super Hornet: 5000lbs vs 45000 lbs.

Where’s the fun in a completely gamified scenario…? Why not choose the HALO dropship or Dune ornithopter for style points?
Or do we think that because we’re in a Hi Fi A2A or FSR addon that it somehow legitimizes the fun?

like I said, the game is a sandbox, do whatever you want.

But when there are so many opportunities for realistic challenges, bragging about utterly contrived, cherry picked scenarios is rather silly

Fun doesn't need to be legitimized. Otherwise, it wouldn't be... you know... fun.

Weird supposition ... where did I brag about this?  Cherry picked?  Sorry you lost me ... but that's ok, you seem to have some angst and/or preconception so go run with it if that helps you.

EDIT: and I'm under no obligation to justify what I do on my simulator to you or anyone.  But for the record I wouldn’t consider anything I do in game/sim to even qualify for bragging.  Maybe when I beat Scott Speeds lap times in 125cc shifter Karts at (Sears Point/Infineon/Sonoma) back in the day in the physical world, I might have felt proud of the achievement. 😉

Because it's fun. That's the only reason required.

Like I said - the game is a sandbox, play however you want.

Landing GA aircraft on a CV is at the same level as doing donut burnouts in a parking lot.

I’ve done that, after a race win, wasn’t a parking lot it was a race track … oh the horror!

It sure is! Looking forward to another med jet like this. FS Reborn has good stuff.
