I think their current priorities are fine, I don’t see the point in hardware integration for an aircraft that was relatively broken.

There are 2 specific things that the sim var issue relates to though;

  • using hardware, and
  • using standard MSFS keyboard commands.

Whilst I would never assume hardware compatibility from an addon, I'd always expect basic key commands to work, because every other aircraft addon has this functionality.

While I imagine this isn't what the developer was going for, coincidentally it is in fact common on Classics for pilots to do this.  The screens in (most) Classics are CRTs, which generate a lot of he

  • The "ready to   " panel states make this more appealing. I like this model of the 737, but I really won't buy something that insists I operate all the controls as if for real. Happy for all those soul

I remain greatly interested in the 737 Classic series for MSFS. I distinctly recall flying fairly regularly on the -500s of Southwest Airlines, out of Midway airport, in the late 1990s. I think that was the only a/c type that SWA was operating at that time. SWA was also the launch customer of this Boeing 737 variant.

So, as I’m looking into this thread (always like to create an average impression of a new a/c from here; never has failed me…🙂…); I see maybe 2 (or 3?) people at most having actually flown it.

On a rating scale of (-5, +5), one user…🙂…is -5 (probably justifiably so), and one or two others maybe at 2 or 3…

I just now spent a bit of time looking into the Review video of A330 Driver (a RW 737 pilot out of EU, we know well). He summarizes the (current) -500 in such terms as “OK” and “WIP” etc.

Of course, he would not comment on the pricing structure, because it does not concern him…🙂

It appears to me there are genuine concerns about the pricing and renting model itself, which, I read above, are being addressed by the developer.

Let’s see.

Best wishes for the New Year…!

If only there were quality airliners available in the sim, we wouldn't have to get by with half-baked middle school science projects like this.

With a major update such as the one that came out I wouldn't mind blowing 5 bucks to "rent" it for a month.  Maybe do a screenshot review etc

Yes, that's how I feel about renting the aircraft for $5 to give it a honest try before I start making unfounded accusations. If I don't like it then I won't rent it again. Vut I also feel the amount of money I spend renting the plane should go towards the full purchase price if I decide that's the direction I want to go.

That's the problem.  That's what these subscription companies will never offer.  They want a permanently residual income so that, even when a new release is long past, they are still getting paid.

Some services make sense as subscriptions - where the company is perpetually providing you with something, month after month.

But aircraft addons don't come into that category.  Yes, they may be developed further but there comes a point where you're just paying monthly - forever - for something that then becomes static.

I had that once. Usually means the background process didn’t initialize correctly. Try opening the task manager and closing down the Gate.exe process. Then re-open the CSS launcher. That did it for me. Didn’t have to restart the sim or anything.

Thanks guys. That did the trick of bringing my cockpit alive.

Happy Flying

Have anyone figured out how to import simbreif and flight plan into FMC?

  1. Well, it doesn’t do direct-to. Editing the flight plan is a pain, can’t clear a discon to connect to my approach waypoint. Legs are untouchable after takeoff. UI is pretty bad. Sounds suck. My mouse wheel has trouble zooming in or out.
  2. The plane just circled O’Hare airport because I couldn't direct it to the first waypoint
ORD VOR isn’t even in the box.
Reminds me of trying to fly the Captain Sim 777 before PMDG's came out.

To be fair, the Chicago VOR was decommissioned about 5 years ago, so you wouldn't expect to see it in even any halfway updated navdata

The rest certainly doesn't sound promising though, thanks for posting!

never got to work, woudn't load, nothing... finally gave up on it ... latest update, still can't get the jet to work, plus it's got some visual inaccuracies too

Was pilot error on my part. Disregard my last message

I tried it again flying from KBOI to KSLC in SWA colors. Maybe it's me but the plane looks cartoonish in the sim. AS far as handling, it would not handle ALT correctly, the FMS entries are slow and sluggish. VNAV was also sluggish. I set 2000ft as my final decent ALT. It blew right pass the ALT setting and eventually hit the ground. I'm glad to just spend $5just to try out. It is definitely not ready for prime time.

I flew it again tonight and had a much better experience. Shouldn't have gone into it thinking it would be like the NG. It could use a good sound pack, but other than that, it does have potential. Looking forward to the 300.

If this and the rest of the systems are slow or near unresponsive then it means you essentially crashed the systems. This is due you selecting a particular STAR/SID.

CSS apparently has a major update to fix this but as it stands there’s certain flags in the navigraph navdata that they aren’t parsing correctly leading to these system crashes.

I’d send a ticket of your flight plan so they can consider that flag too.

it’s extremely annoying and forcing me to shelve the product as I don’t want to gamble on which SID/STAR won’t crash the plane, so just waiting for that update.

I’ve seen this one too many times haha.

**Hello Captains!  We're happy to announce @everyone  that as of today, the CSS 737-500 version 1.7.8 is now available in your CSS Launchers!**

This version features several fixes for the issues the community has discovered after our latest update. Namely, we've retuned the flight model so that the airplane takes off, flies and lands properly at any and all weights. A lot of tuning has been made to the FCC - VNAV and V/S modes should now work properly. We've also fixed an issue where pitot icing occurs even with pitot heat on, retuned flap extension and retraction speeds, fixed TCAS, N1 mode, KMOR being populated in POS INIT and reduced the intensity of the glareshield shake and wing flex.
Hopefully now your CSS 737 flights will go as smoothly as possible!

For our next update, we'll be focusing on adding more sim keybind/lvar compatibility and fixing Navigraph Navdata interpretation issues that lead to certain procedures being drawn incorrectly. Testing of the 737-300 and -400 is also underway, so expect more previews soon!

We've also added some new 737-500 liveries to the CSS Launcher:
UTAir (RA-73046) (20K) (WL),
Air North (C-FANF) (20K) (WL),
Sierra Pacific (N709S) (20K) (WL),
Sky Mali (TZ-SMA) (20K),
Shirak Avia (EK-SHC) (20K),

All of these are notable for still being in active service today, in 2026!

**Hope you enjoy the new update! Wishing you smooth landings with the CSS 737!**
