kiwikat is improving this but here's a few general comparisons to what this is actually doing.  And yes it works perfectly in 2020 (one of those rare things I'll admit lol) - my shots are in 2024 thou

It still can be used if you're flying low level GA.  And if it varies by TLOD.  I run around 400 and it's pretty nice.

At simMarket there is a product called "USA ROADS LIGHTS CLEAR MS24/20" by Taburet, which appears to do the same thing. Is this the same product?

Kiwi's thing is free but kinda maybe?  I didn't buy it.  It's funny it just suddenly showed up at simmarket though.  It also looks like he just quickly put a package together (taburet), because it shows the Carenado T34 in a video, and that plane was only very recently released.

Not at all. He probably saw this here though and wants to make a quick buck before the market is gone. This could have been accomplished for literal years so it is almost certainly not a coincidence. I plan to release the freeware package within a week, so it’s up to you if you want to spend money or not. Plus I will have Mexico and Canada.

So will he, tomorrow.

😝 😁

This looks really neat and interesting.  In the sim I flew over Georgia (the state in the USA) at night, and the old phrase "it looked jumbled like a roadmap of Georgia!" was appropriate.  Far too many lights on the rural roads.   Some places it looks like TRON or maybe the inside of V'ger in the first Star Trek movie.

Hey, if he can put Mexico together in a day, all the power to him. I had been banging my head against it for almost a week until I came up with a decent result.

Files should be up tonight or tomorrow at the latest, will post a link or something when it is ready.

kiwikat is improving this but here's a few general comparisons to what this is actually doing.  And yes it works perfectly in 2020 (one of those rare things I'll admit lol) - my shots are in 2024 though - but Asobo had this lod related bug working in SU3, but it was broken in su4 again.  Hopefully they fix it so we can enjoy it in 24 again...

So in real life flying across a country - you don't typically find street lights even on large roads, across a rural expanse... it's just dark... the only ground lights you see are small towns, antennas/cell towers etc.  MSFS has it so screwed up that even the most rural of roads are all lit up like a christmas tree - so stupid.  Flying at night is typically very dark...  unless you have a full moon, but otherwise it's difficult to tell what's up and down if flying without instruments.  kiwi and I had also discussed that with a proper OLED monitor the darks really become quite dark...  (now I need to spend more money lol)  But anyway, this mod aims to bring a bit more realistic night flying to MSFS 2020 and eventually 24.

Great work on adding EU !

It is so annoying on 2024 at high altitude all the lights are back on.

@kiwikat do you mind adding a link to the MSFS2024 bug on the official forum ?

Will be trying this out!  I only have 2024 installed now though.  It's ridiculous how they placed these generic lights in every corner of the planet it seems.  Hope they can address this in SU5.  Are you using polygons with exclusions or an exclusion rectangle?  I am wondering if both have the same bug....??
