January 31Jan 31 Anyone else spot those four Utah ANG KC-97s on the ramp in that clip? That's some quality vintage hardware right there.

Yeah and I think I saw a Lockheed L-188 Electra in the background right at touch down. not as cool as a KC-97 though! Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB

January 31Jan 31 I prefer airliners from the 80's/90's. Obviously, I'd like the -400 better. I'm not interested in the -100 (too short range for flying it down here). But, if somehow they release the -200, I'd be in. I was taxing out at JFK one dark night in a snow storm and the ground controllers were in melt down. An ops vehicle came on the radio and said “ hey ground are you talking to the Learjet on Alpha ?” The ground controller came back quite annoyed and said “ I don’t have time for questions, I’m too busy” The ops guy calmly responded “ well someone had better talk to him because he’s taxing but he’s ain’t on the taxiway no more “ I had that airport music playing in my head along with the words I’m phoning Patroni ! …🙂… Yes, jon, that original (1970) Airport film was excellent too. I got to see it one more time during these holidays on Amazon Prime Video. Such tense and exciting drama…from start to finish… When I saw it the first time, I was not living in Chicago, so, after I moved, I looked for the Lincoln International Airport (the fictional snow-bound Chicago O’Hare)…🙂… Apparently, most of the on-field runway scenes were shot in (not too far) Minneapolis-St. Paul during a snowstorm and blizzard of 1969, with, of course, some Hollywood accentuated (dramatic) snow effects… Indeed, as you said, there were quite a few “real” airplanes used in the filming, including a Boeing 707-300 of the former Flying Tiger Line, to represent the (fictional) Trans Global Airlines. TBH, those kinds of intense snowstorms and blizzards, I do not recall seeing around here in recent years. Edited January 31Jan 31 by P_7878
January 31Jan 31 The only PMDG steam-gauge cockpit that I'm interested in for FS24 is the DC-6. Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting. https://rationalwiki.org

Joshua: The (original) Airport (1970) was filmed with a RW Boeing 707-300. It’s not a 747-100, but another classic airliner that you’ve been (likely) dreaming about…🙂…in MSFS…

There's some great ones out there like the 707 stuck in the taxiway from the original "Airport" movie. And then there the "The Pilot" with Cliff Robertson. Probably the best live action of any airliner action (DC-8) in a movie and lots of it. This is one of my favorite movies of all time. Superb cinematography! I still have a copy of it on VHS tape.
January 31Jan 31 Catch Me If You Can, the 2002 movie, had a scene with...I believe a DC-8 internally/cockpit shots, but a 707 externally if I am remembering correctly. Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB

Yeah I too remember a movie with an emery worldwide DC-8 up close. I think it was blue diamond iirc.
