I CAN'T WAIT for PMDG 747-100 Classic - Anyone Else?

Seeing the real Air France 747-100 (F-BPVJ) cockpit at Le Bourget's Musée de l'Air et de l'Espace IRL totally reignited that fire for me which I drowned out for so long.

Those steam gauges, flight engineer station, fuel management, classic AFCS... pure analog magic that'll make PMDG's classics in MSFS 2024 hit different.

Who’s with me on this?? Who else is ABSOLUTELY LOSING IT waiting for PMDG to unleash those 747 Classics in MSFS 🙂

What are your favourite memories with the Queen of the Skies ?

Oh, and for the record, the first 747 I ever went in is now a 747-100 !!!

I've been dabbling with the Felis 742 for a couple years now, and I used to fly the FJS 721 & 732 before XP 12 came out. All are well crafted Hi Fidelity addons, but...

the truth is I just don't care for the FE station because I feel obligated to learn/use it.

So for me, the 732 has been the steam gauge sweet spot (and it helps that my dad was a Captain on that as well as the 721). FWIW, he didn't like the FE job, either 😉

The reason I'm happy for the PMDG iteration coming up is simply because it'll move us that much closer to the 744, and (someday, again...), the -8F.

All that said - All Hail The Queen!

  • As far as 747's go, I'm excited for the 400 and -8. I'll pass on the 747-100. When it comes to classic airlines, I'm an L-1011 fan all the way.

Can't wait!

I must get a copy of that film, so nice to see a real aircraft rather than the rubbish CGI they’d use today.

I can’t be bothered growing the mandatory moustache required to fly the 747 classic I’ll wait for the -400

Only the -8

I sure, like the -8. I’ve been flying the Asobo -8 a lot, but it’s no PMDG in spite of our (proverbial) love-hate relationship with this developer.

When LH (747-8I launch operator) unexpectedly switched their 744 to their new 748, on (Chicago->Frankfurt) route, I didn’t even notice, until I was seated and looked into the seatback pamphlet…🙂

A good -8 is most welcome too…In our SIM…!

No interest in the classic 100 and 200 at all but I may go for the 400.

MSFS 2024. Primary Planes: Black Square TBM850, Duke, Baron, Caravan; A2A Comanche; FSReborn Phenom; Fexix A321; PMDG 737-7, 777: Utilities: Active Sky (Passive Mode); BATC, FSLTL.

You guys enjoy the 100 classic but I will probably wait until the 400 or 800.

same..........no  interest whatsoever in any further PMDG aircraft and certainly not in any 747

Glad you liked it, all of us that grew up in the 70's learned to fly the 747 Classic from this film! 😼

"The brake pressure is dropping - I dunno if we got enough left to stop this thing!!!" 🤣

And thank god for that random high speed taxiway right at the end of the friggin' runway 🙂

I'll let the rest of the faux pas pass (like that shack!) - for a live action scene with a real jet, it's still pretty dang good! 👍

That was how my six year old brain learned you can steer an aircraft with the rudder 😎

(yeah, yeah, i know it was the rudder trim, but still... 😉 )

Yeah I’m pretty much the same, that and the original airport film.

The original film is why I like winter ops !

I was taxing out at JFK one dark  night in a snow storm and the ground controllers were in melt down.

An ops vehicle came on the radio and said “ hey ground are you talking to the Learjet on Alpha ?”

The ground controller came back quite annoyed and said “ I don’t have time for questions, I’m too busy”

The ops guy calmly responded “  well someone had better talk to him because he’s taxing but he’s ain’t on the taxiway no more “

I had that airport music playing in my head along with the words I’m phoning Patroni !
