February 20Feb 20 Author Much more progress tonight with the airfield, and I solved the beacon issue. Needed to delete and remake the taxiways due to issues with fuel station locations and lights. The layout is much better now. Also added fencing and custom items like security shacks, the yellow fire hydrants used in the area, and a road sign. And found good Asobo objects for facilities like VOR array and the ILS transmitter equipment. There are some small terrain issues but I am not having any luck solving them so far. There are a couple of local landmarks I will try to add such as the lighthouse and County Fairgrounds, after that...it might be ready! Edited February 20Feb 20 by Nandengo12
February 21Feb 21 Author Local VFR landmarks added, including the County Fair and Battery Point lighthouse and light coastline enhancement.
February 21Feb 21 Author v1.0 released! Thanks again to everyone for the encouragement. (KCEC) Del Norte County Regional Airport, Crescent City, CA, USA for Microsoft Flight Simulator | MSFS
February 21Feb 21 Wow! Looks amazing! Downloading now. Thank you for sharing. 32GB DDR4 3200Mhz i7-9700K RTX 3060 12GB GDDR6
February 21Feb 21 Congrats on your first airport and thanks for your effort! I absolutely love GA airports like this. Will definitely DL and give a try! Scott
February 22Feb 22 Thanks for this v1 😉 Did you use some sort of photogrammetric import into MSFS (Google Maps?) for "custom buildings"? These are not Blender/Skechtup kind of 3D model. Fences has to decide to be on one side... or the other 😉 It's a MSFS2020 SDK compilation, right? Put in the MSFS2024 community folder, the runway textures has no scratches, weathered and tires marks. If it's the case, it's by design when using msfs2020 build into msfs2024. I do the same for my own sceneries. And I didn't find any better solution than adding an extra MSFS2024 build scenery containing "only" the exact same runway (and extra fine tuning for vegetation of specific stocked objects which don't appeared in MSFS2024 for example) in a different folder. Here's an example of a default texture runway in MSFS2024: Edited February 22Feb 22 by vbazillio Vincent B. Here's an example of a default texture runway in MSFS2024: VB, You have a great eye for detail! Yes, regarding the fence, I had to turn the posts around otherwise it looked strange disappearing into the building. There wasn't enough space to include a side gate...! I don't know if it was a good compromise though. I noticed the same thing with airport textures in MSFS24...but I find working with the 24 SDK a little clunky. Maybe if I can get better with the workflow I can add a separate folder as you suggest. As for the objects, yes they are generated with commercial modeling software. I have to do a little transform and texture modification in Blender to get acceptable results in MSFS. Right now I don't know enough about modeling to clean them up better, but my intention is just to have the general impression of buildings better than the default. Also, if you are testing in 24, that face is only the back of the hangar, it used as the backface with an Asobo hangar object that is the same size from KASE assets. April 16Apr 16 Author Hi friends, I have updated KCEC to v1.5, now released. I improved some FBO and hangar models, and added some more custom signs and airfield layout improvements. Update is available here, if you already installed v1.0: (KCEC) Del Norte County Regional Airport, Crescent City, CA, USA - Airports for MSFS | Flightsim.to
