All that part of the city, including the trees alongside the river, were decorated with lights. Darn! I was in San Antonio in December 2024 for about a week to attend an ACTE conference, but I didn't know that there was an Air Museum there. I would have loved to see it. Anyway, the San Antonio River Walk was lovely: my hotel was right beside it, and I walked along the river just about every day of the conference and sat outside in the evenings at some of the restaurants along the walk. I even saw the Alamo, though I have to admit that as a Canadian, it's significance was mostly lost on me. Joel Murray @ CYVR (actually, somewhere about halfway between CYNJ and CZBB)

However, a native Texan colleague from Chicago, who, btw, also advised me to pack cowboy hats and boots when I moved there…🙂…, filled me in a bit about places of interest, when I asked him for some tips before driving from Austin to San Antonio. The entire stretch of highway was a parking-lot, as I recall, on a bright and (Texas) sunny Saturday afternoon, with back to back traffic, but the visit was worth it. Ed Swearingen worked with other pioneers and innovators of the time such as Dee Howard and Bill Lear, while developing the initial designs of the pressurized twin turbo-prop Metroliner, later to be Fairchild. I think it was @regis9 here who had once commented (on one of my FSX posts) that just as the Q400, the Metroliner was widely used in Canada, when he saw my pictures of the Bearskin Airlines from around Ontario, at the opposite end of Canada, compared to where you are…🙂… Both the Q400 and the Metroliner would be highly welcome in MSFS2024.

Good ol' Bearskin airlines. I flew on one of their flights out of Ottawa to Toronto/Buttonville back in the day on a PC-12. Such a great airline. Very friendly crew and top notch customer service. I always liked those Red Bear Paw prints in the fuselage of the Bearskin Airlines livery. Actually, you folks up there have lots of bears on your airline liveries…🙂… I’ve been always as much interested in the Canadian airlines, as in the U.S. airlines. Of course, it’s a bit colder up there even compared to Chicago, so, those northern airlines know how to operate in harsh and cold environments. Cheers…!

I'm currently getting my CP fix with the FSS 727 and a great repaint for the MD11, but I eagerly look forward to 737-200s and the eventual early 747s!
