Channel Shoutout During IniBuilds L-1011 TriStar Livestream

Featured Replies

So I tuned into the official iniBuilds TriStar showcase livestream on Microsoft's Twitch channel two days ago (with Chewwy hosting alongside the iniBuilds and msfs team), and it was awesome to see the new TriStar in action for MSFS 2024.

Big news: They confirmed it's releasing this month (March 2026), so they said now's the time to brush up on your TriStar knowledge!

But the real highlight for me was when Chewwy gave a surprise shoutout to my YouTube channel Joshua757 for the L-1011 prep/tutorial videos I've been putting out!

What an absolute honor – huge thanks to Chewwy, the iniBuilds team, and the MSFS crew if you're reading this! 🙌

And thank you everyone here for creating such an amazing, encouraging atmosphere here for all things flightsim.

Super excited for the release – who's planning to grab it day one? Any favorite TriStar liveries or routes you're looking forward to flying?

Cheers,

Oh, and I plan to go live this weekend for one final L-1011 prep where I will be testing the TriStar to the limits: Stalls, Alternate Gear, DLC and more!

OK.  From ChatGPT:

The TriStar had a built-in oven downstairs in the galley that could bake hundreds of meals at once, which sounds impressive until you realize most passengers just wanted a decent reheated chicken.

Eastern Air Lines once flew TriStars with a reputation for being “haunted” after parts from a crashed aircraft were reused, so a ghost story involving a wide-body jet is a real thing.

The TriStar had a hidden lower-deck lounge on some aircraft, accessible by a spiral staircase. Because apparently what every flight needs is a secret 1970s basement hangout.  That same staircase became a favorite spot for flight attendants to jokingly call the “stairway to nowhere” when the lounge wasn’t installed.

Cool L1011 trivia. Thanks for sharing.

There was an old movie made about it. I cannot remember the name

Recognition deserved @Joshua757!!!

Your channel is now one of my daily mandatory aviation & flight simulatio polls 🙂

The L-1011 means a LOT to me...

I will never forget a full flight from LPPS to LPPT in the captain observer seat (right behind the captain, next to that huge side window in the L-1011-500 cockpit). A night flight which was supposed to be flown in an A310 which got a technical problem.

What a great airliner !!!!

Keep the great work !

Wow, thank you so much for your kind words and support. It really means a lot to me. Hope to chat with you live today in today's L1011 stream if you're available. ;)

@jcomm That's a fantastic L1011 experience. I'm sure the cockpit must have been very spacious!!!

Yes it was, there was also the  The Ghost of Flight 401 and a few others, see below.  There was a TV movie and a book on 401 which I read and watched.

The L-1011 is a day one purchase for me even though I hate using the Marketplace. I will transfer it later. My last flight on a L-1011 was from Atlanta to Frankfurt.

Looks like the stream was pushed back an hour. It was 20 min to start when it reset to another hour.

There is also some excellent (and silly) footage of a TWA L-1011 in “The Naked Gun” where Lt. Frank Drebben and Weird Al both deplane 😂.

I will be buying this, having ridden on ATA examples on our honeymoon.

Langoliers from Stephen King in the short story was a 76. I kept wanting to hear more about the plane as I was a geek for flying even back then. (Also Nightflyer (also King) is aviation themed but not jets... or L1011s)

Are you saying it was a 767 in the book?  It was definitely a repainted TWA Tristar in the film and TV mini series.  It was a terrible film to be honest!

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.
