The import STAR/SID option isn't realistic as those are RNP Arrivals which are RNAV1 whereas the INS is an RNAV5 meaning it's too inaccurate to fly the charted path via guidance, we added this functio

This is a niche aircraft compared to the usual A32X/737 but it seems very nicely modeled. And the price is a nice surprise.

Will definitely buy it before the end of the year.

Is it possible to switch the autopilot inputs from INS to GPS with both installed?  I know there is a switch for NAV/INS but I’m not clear how one would tell the aircraft “ok stop listening to the INS now and start taking horizontal guidance from the GPS instead”.  I looked through the manual and couldn’t find an answer to this.

“INS (GPS): INS (or GPS) capture and tracking

- This switch will display either INS or GPS depending on the navigation instrument option selected in the PFB”

Not clear on what happens if both are selected in the PFB.

Bought it - love it so far.

Easy to hand fly, no stutters, modeling seems very similar to Just Flight's vintage planes (which I love).

Am hoping that soon a livery painter will create the ATA "Runway" blue and gold scheme that my wife and I traveled to and from our honeymoon on back in 1997. 🙂

More flying later - but a great purchase!

Maybe this will clear up your questions.  From the ini FAQ Page:

https://forum.inibuilds.com/topic/35983-how-to-gps-navigation-ins-gps/

To engage GPS mode

Verify GPS CDI source Ensure the GPS unit displays "GPS" in the CDI area (not "VLOC" or another source). If necessary, press the CDI button on the GPS unit repeatedly until "GPS" appears.

Engage AFCS mode Press the VOR button on the AFCS panel. Confirm the VOR button light illuminates (indicating mode armed/engaged).

Confirm guidance Verify that the captain's HSI and Flight Director (FD) display the desired GPS-derived course, deviation, and steering commands.

Important notes

GPS mode is available if the NAVIGATION OPTIONS on the EFB are set to GPS only or INS+GPS

VOR Mode is not dynamic Once engaged, the AFCS locks onto the navigation source present at the moment the VOR button is pressed. If you later change the GPS CDI source (e.g., from "GPS" to "VLOC"), the autopilot will not automatically switch. To update the mode:

Press the VOR button again to disengage the current mode.

Re-press the VOR button to re-engage using the new source. This maintains the consistent AFCS philosophy of cycling buttons to change or refresh modes (as seen in pitch hold, vertical speed, etc.).

Flight plan import You may import flight plans from the simulator's Flight Planner directly into the GPS unit. In the EFB (Electronic Flight Bag), select your route and press SEND TO AVIONICS.

Display limitations All GPS-derived data (course, crosstrack deviation, TO/FROM indication, etc.) appear exclusively on the captain's HSI. The first officer's instruments are not driven by GPS mode in this configuration.

This hybrid capability allows seamless use of satellite-based navigation while retaining full INS backup and the original AFCS operational feel. Always cross-check the active navigation source on the GPS unit before engaging or changing modes. Monitor the HSI closely during transitions.

Ahh perfect thank you, so VOR on the AFCS utilizes the GPS, that’s what I was missing.

Thanks!

Anyone know if there's a hardware binding for the auto throttle speed setting? That little skinny knob there below the two buttons?

And while you all are stewing on the above question, has anyone run into a situation where the speed setting was locked in place and could not be changed?  Had this happen to me last night, but it could have been some erroneous keystroke that activated some mode, since I was setting up ChasePlane views and shortcuts etc. at the same time.

i have had that on one flight yes.  I’ve come across a few little things (nothing game breaking) but TBH I haven’t flown this enough to be confident they are bugs or something I’ve done wrong.

The other one I’ve seen twice now (but not on my first flight) was in the PMS takeoff page, when I enter the GW, fuel and SAT, the number do o appear on the PMS, however the entries seem to be working as it still calculates the correct EPR.  Other entries (cruise altitude, BOD figures) work as expected.

You have to manually enter the time at the top, even though it’s already there. It got me too

Ahh ok, that makes sense!  Will give that a shot this afternoon.  A rainy long weekend here is perfect for flight simming and getting in some reps in a new aircraft!

Got my third full flight in today and starting to feel more comfortable with it, a few things I’m still not sure about:

- I had a few cases where I was descending and the altitude capture did not work, it just kept descending.  Not sure if that’s a bug or a feature of an older autopilot.  Other times it worked fine.

- On final approach, I had a pretty big discrepancy between the PFB calculated Vapp (140) and the speed commanded by the auto throttle in AOA mode / VTH (155).  Not sure if this is normal or how close they should be?  I disabled the auto throttle and landed at 140 without issues.
