Looks Like I'll Return to 2020

Reducing TLOD = more blurries.  A lower TLOD makes ground textures not load as far away, or from a higher viewpoint.  There's other factors for blurry imagery like texture resolution, but TLOD is the main reason why people see blurries.  Sadly the TLOD in 2024 is very different from 20.  I've found you really need to get to at least 300 in 24 to see similar results of 200 in 2020.  Honestly maybe more like 400 in 2024.

I don't see blurries- ever with 200 LOD.  Also,  I have no addons and nothing in community folder.

My rig can handle 200 but after that the trouble like blurries, sttuers and texture pop start.

Folks need to tune the sim to their rig.

Thanks everyone for your input and advice, as always, it is very much appreciated. It does seem that I may be experiencing that initial panic that often sets in immediately after an installation.  It

Because it isn’t a problem. It’s one of the things that makes 2024 run better than 2020. They unload the stuff you’re not currently looking at to make the sim run better.

You run a vanilla sim?  I'd say most have addons...

Anyway my point is that dynamic settings do change the TLOD and I recommend people avoid using it if they want sharper imagery.

My point (and for my rig) is the opposite so go figure.  🫥

And finally, If you set the min fps trigger say to 30,  Dynamic only kicks in when you really need it say on final to a large airport.

Agree, but wouldn't we need to be physically standing behind his TV/Monitor to do that?  And then there is time of day, weather, world location (impacts the haze level), etc.

Yes and no.

The thing is, if he posts screenshots that looks absolutely fine to us, then we can be sure the problem lies in his screen color/contrast/light settings.

If however his screenshots look terrible also to us, then we know the problem is not linked to his screen settings but more his sim graphic settings, or NVidia settings, or any postprocessing tools (reShade) etc... if any.

Screens can be objective, subjective, intuitive ecetera.

May look great for one and garbage for another.  Also I don't think screenies capture everything.

The insim Dynamic Setting does nothing to the image quality other than reducing LOD per Seb.

I've never experienced blurries when using it but have when not using it.  Read Seedl's explanation how folks are not using it correctly.

Also, I don't do external apps so the insim Dynamic Setting, when used correctly is the perfect solution.

Hmm. Going to disagree here as dynamic settings reduce terrain level of detail. Reduce that and detail deteriorates instantly. Often causing blurry ground textures. Dynamic is coded into the sim so its a lot faster than autofps. Autofps is less drastic as I find dynamic settings to over correct the TLOD.

And yes, when I use it, I use it correctly.

Still, I think the OPs issue is probably dynamic settings or something related to TLOD or OLOD in someway. Also.... asobo servers sometimes bork on me look terrible when I have excellent internet and a fairly hefty pc

Dynamic should never or rarely activate.  If your rig can't maintain 30fps it needs to be set to 20 or 10 and it will only act when you hit those fps.  In my case with a 5060ti and AMD 5900x I can cruise along at 45fps.  So if I set dynamic trigger to the default 60 it will be blurries and poor IQ all day long.  That is why dynamic gets a bad rap.

IOW baseline your system first and then find the worst-case scenario like landing at KSFO with loads of traffic.  Set Dynamic to those FPS.  Could be 30 or less.

My rig cruises at 45fps or better so I set Dynamic to 45.  95+% of the time Dynamic never activates.  Most useful to eliminate stutters and landings at large airports but the value needs to be set to the worst-case scenario fps like 30 or below is best.

Also when Dynamic kicks in at SFO I notice no image degradation.  In fact I'm surprised how good everything looks.

I still keep 2020 installed, but I haven’t gone back full time. For me 2024 became usable once I stopped trying to throw everything at it at once and kept the setup a bit simpler. Most of my flying is IFR in the PMDG 737, and lately some Fenix too, and in that use case it’s been solid enough that I’d rather keep moving forward with it than rebuild my whole routine around 2020 again. Not saying the frustrations aren’t real, just that for me the balance has shifted over the last couple of months.

I suspect, like many of us - we are all waiting for the next version.
