After all, if a chef has let the food burn, it does no good to voice your criticism to a garbage collector; how else is the chef supposed to improve their skills?

Third party creators may or may not visit online forums, if they don't that's a determent to their company. But you can bet their bottom dollar they care about word spreading through social media that complains about issues/short comings.

You have a better shot at getting something done/fixed/upgraded by creating a large backing for the issue at hand than writing a person email to any creator!

As far as food and garbage, one has a better shot at getting something cooked right if instead of complaining to the garbage man, you complain to a food critic that has the ability to spread the word!

The only thing the video author could have done better was to use the exact same camera angles and time of day throughout the flight for a true 1:1 comparison. Other than that, the video shows exactly what you get from X-World: Buildings, roads, railways, ground objects, landmarks and some ground polygons. Orthos are not part of the package.

If you're shopping for shirts online at a third party retailer for shirt brand xyz and care about anything on the model but the shirt, you're doing something terribly wrong. I mean yes, some shops have non-optimum product presentations, but if one is really that repulsed by the model's trousers or face, then one simply closes the tab. Lots of other shops out there.

I never said that he did care. I reiterate, I said the textures in the video are awful and look like they come from 2002. If you are happy with that then fine, I have no issue with that. For me, it is a slight issue, for you or others it's not. Great.

As in... your eyes are generally unable to de-focus from the blurry ortho that almost nobody actually ever sees (unless they run on 10 yr old hardware or laptops) and re-focus on the autogen buildings and their textures (the actual product in question)? You sat there staring, screaming a little bit inside your own mind?

I too noticed the blurry textures. I thought, "at that altitude the XP default textures probably look better", but I can't say that it triggered any "issue"-like response. Certainly not to the level of balking at the actual product.

I run X-World with XMap enhancement and XPlane looks as beautiful as anything I have seen on another sim on my desk or in video. When X-World pro comes out I plan on doing the same. Very anxious. I appreciate the man for his work.

Hi everyone.

I think the org has alienated a lot of Real World pilots. I am in a group of 12+ and everyone got some sort of admonishment just for giving their opinion on the "dark cockpit" issue.

I've been with XP since their inception and used to post .lua script solutions on the org, but I no longer contribute to that site.

As to the addons I use hires ZL 17+ for local scenery, and Objects Low, No 3D trees.. and I find it much closer to RW than any of the addons. Yes, it's storage intensive, but I have a 14TB HD and I can store all the areas that I fly in real life and it's much more recognizable in the areas that I fly.

I wish all the developers would post their code on github and other sites, the org is getting difficult to be around.

Ortho can be a created rather quickly for small areas and if you are a Real World pilot and it is the best if you try to recognize / use some of the ground references, which is one of the worst things about XP in my opinion if you fly low. I created many ground references / objects / towers ... around the airports I fly in, for myself and the pilots I work with but it's very time consuming.

In the reference I quoted you were very clear that it caused a slight issue for YOU. There was no reference to other potential buyers. So yes, that is exactly what you said.

You need not fear for other customers' reactions, though I'm sure he's grateful for your good intentions and concerns. He's not offering this as a product with the intent to earn revenue. He's merely covering server costs with the fees. He very literally does not care if people buy it or not.

I get it myself, nothing difficult to understand. But I wonder... Is it best to show off the product as you would see through most of the addon or do we want them to select the best they could find which may be in specific small areas that don't necessarily represent the entire package, then when purchased most that don't know any better would be disappointed.
