July 9Jul 9 Hello, I'm still considering on whether or not to get FSS B-727-100. If I do decide to get it, do I have to purchase anything extra like a base package?? thanx you for your help.
July 10Jul 10 You have a number of options:You can buy the Passenger 100 version which is standaloneYou can buy the Freighter 100 version which is standaloneIf you buy either of these above, then you get a discount if you want to subsequently buy the other.AND for the above, you can subsequently buy the Super addon which gives you the 200 series upgrades of engines and avionics - but the Super addon is NOT standaloneORYou can buy the Series - which includes Passenger version, Freighter version and the Super addon altogether Ryzen 7 9800x3D @5.2GHz; ASUS X670-P Motherboard; nVidia 4080 (factory o/c); 32G 5600MHz DDR5 SDRAM; Pimax Crystal Light VR Headset; Quest 3 VR Headset

I'd like to be wrong, though: I have no interest in freight ops. July 13Jul 13 I'm also considering the FSS 727 ( because, of course, I don't have enough airliners already, do I ? 🙄 ). It is my favourite retro jet airliner, and I've been watching a few reviews on Youtube, which are favourable. What's the consensus among users here, please ? Good, bad, okay ? Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting. https://rationalwiki.org

Good, bad, okay ?Personally, I think it is absolutely splendid. Very clever stuff to effectively have an invisible but 'working' engineer if you want for the cold and start but, with some adjustments to the ability to move round the cockpit into each of the flight positions, managing to actually start it from cold and dark was one of the most satisflying thing I've done in years of enjoying the 2020/2024 sims. Took a few goes at it, mind... Ryzen 7 9800x3D @5.2GHz; ASUS X670-P Motherboard; nVidia 4080 (factory o/c); 32G 5600MHz DDR5 SDRAM; Pimax Crystal Light VR Headset; Quest 3 VR Headset

July 13Jul 13 I absolutely love it too, Paul (I have the passenger 727-200).It brings back happy memories of riding on these as a kid and young adult.I have no ability to navigate using the vintage instruments and the GPS is small for me to see (because I’m old enough to have ridden on these!), so I cheat and use the tablet map from the EFB.Autopilot and other functions work great and I’ve never noticed this being “heavy” on FPS on my modest rig - it’s just as smooth as my F28 which is another similar aged jet.I wish there was a Northwest Orient livery for the -200 but there are many other nice liveries for download.I have an easier time with the systems on this than I do with the Maddog which I also have.No thrust reverser clamshells visible (as per the prototype) which are fun to watch.Very bright and nice lighting - if overdone, I like it!A very good purchase, I may need to get the -100 too but struggle to find time to fly the fleet as is in this sim and that one that starts with X.

I've always loved the 727's looks, and was lucky enough to travel in one from Kuching, Sarawak to Singapore. I'm definitely going to get this model - thanks again. Thanks again to @AJZip2 also. July 13Jul 13 It’s a lot of fun, and I’d say a much more complete project than their E-jets. Dave Current System (Running at 4k): ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-F, Ryzen 7800X3D, RTX 5090, 55" Samsung Q80T, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, EVGA CLC 280mm AIO Cooler, Brunner CLS-E NG Yoke, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS & Stick, Thrustmaster TCA Quadrant & Add-on, VirtualFly Ruddo+, TQ6+ and Yoko+, GoFlight MCP-PRO and EFIS, Skalarki FCU and MCDU
July 14Jul 14 I used to crew on B727-100's (non pilot though) and I can say that the FSS rendition is very good. It's just like being back in the old bird. The visuals and the sounds are all there. Just the old avionics smell is missing but I guess we can't hold FSS to that!! Importantly from my perspective the old nav systems are available which means replication of old departure and arrival procedures is a lot of fun. Of course if you want the GPS systems, they are modelled too. And, as others have said, the cold and dark start is realistic and immersive again with switch sounds, power crossover sounds and air con pack sounds as expected on the actual aircraft. While FSS had some problems with pitching when they first released the model, that has all been sorted now and the flight model is quite stable and realistic for the aircraft size and weight. So long as you have a stable approach, adhere to ref speeds and keep the engines spooled you should make a good landing or at least be able to go missed approach comfortably. I'm not sure about 2024 but I didn't think the 2020 paint texturing was anything to write home about, but they are good enough. One of the best low-level go arounds I have seen with gear extended all the way round. The bank angle from the cockpit view is amazing to see. Thx for sharing! July 14Jul 14 One of the best photos I ever took at Duxford - two classics together. G-OSRA was formerly owned by FedEx, and the last 727 ever built. 😍 Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting. https://rationalwiki.org
