I have tried to download from Google and US2, with no joy. Is there a way to specify to download just that one file? I have 64 GB of ram so never use more than 15% of my system ram. Have 8 GB of GPU RAM and never load more than 6+GB of that according to GPU-Z

I have a file missing when downloading tile N35W98 from Bing. I have recut this tile more than a dozen times and still missing dds file 51644_29920 BI17.dds. This causes CTD when flying around the Oklahoma City area, the crash happens at different time and in different areas not always in the same area. Can anyone give me a pointer about how to get this file, I have rerun Ortho4XP dozens of times, have tried to download from GO2 X-Plane 11 won't even start with that tile also have tried from US2, with he same result, X-Plane 11 won't start. With the Bing tile X-Plane 11 starts but may or may not CTD at anytime. So currently my flying is stuck at KSAN.

I had a substantial increase for FPS too. I went from high 40's low 50's to high 60's to low 70's in the area I usually fly in (KPWA), Oklahoma City. In San Diego with MisterX6 scenery I used to get in the 30's now getting high 40's to low 50's, about the same at KLAX and KSNA. My machine is an I7 6850K@4.49Mhz, water cooled, a GTX 1080 running stock, and 64GB of DDR4 RAM. Got this machine for X-Plane 11. As someone in another thread commented, we only use flight sims for an excuse to upgrade.

Thanks a lot Ses, That did the trick, another case of me trying to make things more complicated than they really are. After watching some of the tutorials on YouTube, I thought you had to use the symbolic links rather than a regular shortcut. Glad to see the simpler way is the way to go. Thanks again. Donald E. Good evening everyone, I am having trouble with the making a shortcut for my orthos to X-Plane. I have made the shortcuts using the MKLINk /J command in a command window, the shortcuts appear in my Custom Scenery folder and they are indeed linked to the ortho folder on my secondary drive, but when I load and run X-Plane 11, the orthophotos do not load, I am still using default scenery. I cannot for the life of me figure why I can not link to that drive. I know it is something I am doing, or probably more precisely not doing, but I am at my wits end. I know the orthophoto itself is good, as if I copy it over to my Custom Scenery folder along with the overlay folder it loads up and does well, looks pretty decent in fact. Its just if I leave it on my other drive it will not load although the shortcut looks good. I have only been able to make one ZL 17 that works at all, (by copying it over to my Custom Scenery folder), actually I really only want to make an ortho for where I generally fly, so would like to make a ZL 19, so far the ZL 19 that I have tried crashes X-Plane on loading. Glad to hear that Ses. Really helped my machine. I am having trouble with doing the Ortho4XP thing. I am going to post in a new post about it and ask for some help, if you read it maybe you can give me some pointers.

Since this is a beta, I hope you submitted your log.text to LR so they could see why it killed off your fps. On my machine it made a very dramatic shift upwards to fps and the load on my CPU and GPU dropped off quite a lot.

LOL, we all twiddle and tweak. Actually that is what a flightsim is for, to see how to tune our computers to be the fastest gun. :-)) No matter how fast it is, there is always more.

I wonder if you have VSync set, and perhaps your monitor refresh is set lower than 60. I would check all of the monitor settings. Just a thought.

I think you will have to set both windows to full screen.

Hate to say it, but this was as Jimm said, pointed out as far back as at least FSX9, I have always done it this way. And it has been posted more than once on various forums. Again it is well that you have discovered it. I don't remember when I started X-Plane, it was before XP9, and I have done Microsoft Flight Simulator on a TRS 80 back in the 80's, we loaded it from tape recorders then. LOL

When all else fails, read the manual.

You need the X-Plane library installer by Tom Knudson. a link is given where the NZM file is located. Download the library installer, that will give you nearly every library that is out there. if not nearly all a whole bunch of them. LOL

Thanks Jim I will try that again. I have tried that in the past but it seems to lose a lot of info. Yes PDX, I am referring to Plan-G, pardon me for inverting the name. I heard that several people were able to connect, using X-Plane 10 data base, but I could never point Plan-G to where X-Plane 11 was in order for it to connect. Appreciate any input.

I have never been able to get G Plan to connect to X-Plane 11, I had G Plan download data from X-Plane 10 and that works OK. How do you direct G Plan to where X-Plane 11 is? I've tried everything I can think of but still cannot get it to connect.

The 381.65 drivers crashed X-Plane for me also, both 11 and 10, I went back to the 378.92 drivers which works well for me. Had to download these from EVGA web site.

Its the newest update to Windows 10. Been in the works for sometime now. Most everyone is excited about the new game mode that is in it. It seems in game mode Windows will shut down all the things that are not pertinent to the game you ae playing. Not sure if that statement is 100% correct but I have heard it explained as such in other places. For me, it made a significant difference on the order of 25 to 33% difference. Other people have not seen that gain. It may be the people that don't see the gain already have there OS peaked out, don't know just a thought. On my system the new NVidia drivers for my GTX 1080 killed X-Plane, would not load or run at all. Others have seen the drivers work, but most people report a significant drop in fps with the new optimized for game mode drivers. Go figure. LOL With my I7-6850k chip and GTX 1080 I was getting mostly mid 20 to low 30fps at LAX with Mr6X scenery, with the new game mode I get a solid 40 fps on runway 24, no matter wich way I look. in the air it varies from high 30 to low to mid 40s. Ins the areas I usually fly, (KPWA), I get mid 50 to low 60 fps with the same settings. I use maximum AA because I cannot stand the shimmering I get with low AA.

By now you may have poked around enough to find it but in case you didn't, here is the way to get to windowed mode. Bring up the setting page by clicking near the top of the screen, click the icon on the far right. the Settings page will come up click Graphics third from the left at the top of the page. two thirds of the way down the page is the Monitor Configuration, click in the drop down box to the right of Main Monitor, this gives you several options, one of which is Windowed Simulator. Try not to be frustrated, be patient there is a learning curve involved with each simulator. I have been gong through these since 1983 LOL Dozens of different sims over he ensuing years. Its been fun though. DOS was the good old days.

Anyone else using the Creators Edition? I downloaded it last night it seems to have given me an 8 to 10 fps increase. One caution, I downloaded the new NVidia driver that is optimized for Creators and X-Plane would not run, had to roll back in order to run X-Plane. I have seen several other people that used the new driver without incident. Some people haven't seen any gain with Creators some have. They seem to be system specific.
