  1. So never really faced this issue in other planes, before this one, but... I'm having great difficulty when kicking out the HJet's rudder just before touchdown so that you are pointing straight down the runway on windy landings. The reason for my trouble in performing this is the view angle out the front window, I just can't seem to perceive what is perfectly straight and what is not. I kick her out and think I've got it pointing straight only to realize after touching down that I wasn't so straight afterall. I've tried moving my view a little left or right but that didn't seem to help me much...I've even tried using an object in the cockpit as a reference point during line-up but I'm stil struggling with this. She can really be a handful for me on 15kt direct crosswind landings. Any tips?
  2. Guys, I know he tweaks certain aspects of the default flight models...but I was just wondering (as it's been maybe a year since I've flown her) how she fliy's lately. Any serious known issues?
  3. Any intensive data accessing game on a usb connected drive is daft. USB is slooooow. I wouldn't run any game on one and not expect to have some performance issues, regardless of Steam. Notice, with even how long this thread is, that nobody ever dreamed he was running the sim on usb drive...and he never mentioned it, as if it were a normal thing to do.
  4. Well, I for one have no issue with waiting 10 seconds to download a free file 🙂 I think the fact that hobbyists who spend lots of their free time working on their creations and sharing them freely with the community, only to be robbed of the legal rights to their own works is a travesty, and that website needs to either go away or switch it's gears by making money the same way other sites like this do...by selling advertising space to commercial developers and other enterprises.
  5. The Baron sounds interesting to me. I may pick it up.
  6. Sounds like you may be either running or asking the sim to start an application during it's boot-up which may be causing your issue. have you gone through your xml file and removed any or all of those startup entries so you're running vanilla?
  7. Good to see you got it working. It's normal for this plane to need a trim adjustment for cruise since the wings are at a lower angle of attack and there is less power used as compared to the takeoff and climb-out phases which will reduce your pfactor and therefore you should need less right-rudder trim dialed in. That said I also noticed that the animated rudder trim gauge cannot really be used as it is in reality since in the sim you simply can't apply a ton of right trim before take-off to move that gauge into the green band. The airplane will not fly correctly if you do that. I tend to takeoff with neutral trim and use my foot for the right rudder until im at cruise, and then depedning on my w&b and the winds I will trim it for cruise for whatever it needs or asks for...which can even be some left trim. This airplane fly's nicely but it doesn't actually fly like the real one...not only trim-wise but also on final approach, where the sim plane has too much flap drag and not enough flap lift to fly her like the real plane. I have since fixed that so it's behavior and numbers are closer to reality for me.
  8. The rudder trim works ok for me. I have left and right rudder trim bound to 2 joystick buttons. I don't use the in-cockpit physical switch.
  9. Nice to see I'm not the only sentimental sap out here 🙂 Back then every release was so fresh & new...and every year we spent so many hours just dreaming about the possibilities, in our imaginations, that simming might soon bring! Cheers to all the wonderful developers mentioned in this thread who lead the way to where we are today. I miss hearing from some of them, for sure... especially Lou B. who was from my neck of the woods 🙂
  10. This is what has kept me from bothering with this airplane. Zero inertia, every time I would roll the plane left or right it would remind me more of an Extra 300 rather than a GA jet. It stood out enough to really bother me so I walked away from it pretty fast. Not too difficult though to add some inertia, if those values are still accessible, but I haven't yet bothered due to other better offerings that didn't require me to fidget like we're all so accustomed to... ...I find as I get older I have less patience for fixing and just prefer to use products that work in a way that's more aligned with my own personal preferences. Regarding the a/p question....have you seen this one yet? How to Program the Citation CJ4 FMS - AAU1 - Microsoft Flight Simulator - YouTube I havent watched it but the title seems like it might be useful?
  11. ...just reduced some of the flap lift and added some more flap drag, seems alot better now.
  12. So I dunno if this is just me, or an issue with either too little flap drag or induced drag. I'm new to flying the 414 so it's probably just me, but... on final approach I want to keep it around 100-110 kias with full flaps...but the airplane takes soooo long to slow down after pulling throttles back to idle that she floats all the way down the runway. When I watch YT videos of the real plane landing they dont need to cut throttles until well over the fence in the flare...if I wait that long to cut throttles the sim plane will float a long way doing this, whereas the real one bleeds airspeed alot quicker. Seems I have to keep the plane well under 100kias on short finals...about 90 and come over fence with throttle at idle before I reach the piano keys. I left weight and fuel at default and this is just doing patterns so she is a bit light i guess. Any thoughts about this?
  13. These offerings seem to be themed around commercial flying, anyone know of a more GA focused flight generator that would create flights into all the smaller GA fields complete with either visual approach waypoints or LPV's?
  14. Ancient alien theorists believe that it may have been the remnants of a long lost civilization of the extra-terrestrial Zod culture which has since gone invisible here on earth?
  15. I don't have as much time so I'll just say this in one final attempt to maybe help get you thinking more clearly here... There are only 3 possibilities here...It either has to be a hardware issue, a software issue, or an incompatibility between the two. There are no other possibilities. ... and there are quicker ways to figure out which of these it actually is, other than your current path. This is all I'm saying. But, obviously, saving time is not your priority right now. I spent many years doing just what you're doing now so that I could learn as much as possible, so I understand the mindset. So...enjoy solving the puzzle then!
  16. Right, sounds to me like you just really enjoy tinkering and figuring instead of just solving... I get it. You want to understand what went wrong instead of simply getting rid of it. That's fine... I just thought you wanted to be up and running and rid of the issue as quickly as possible after all this time and energy you've already spent on it without any luck. But as I said, it's a matter of how much your time is worth to you and how you prefer to spend that time. Have fun hunting it down 🙂
  17. I know you THINK Steam overlay was your issue at the time but the fact that you're here today only proves that it was not in fact the true cause. Besides, I could have told you that before today because I and others have steam overlay active within the sim without any issue. The overlay itself should not be an issue. IMO, you're worrying too much about "what happens if it doesn't work". The way you solve things is actually by trying as many things as you can until it DOES work. If it was me, and I was satisfied that I had no hardware issue or driver issue then I'd get rid of all my addons and reinstall the game...if that didn't work id be sure to test other games to make certain that this issue was only affecting MSFS. Then at that point id reinstall windows after wiping my drive. One thing is for sure, if it still doesnt work after wiping the drive and starting from scratch with a vanilla install of Windows AND a vanilla sim with no addons then it has to be a hardware issue. If it DOES work then you know it was some software issue or setting you made which caused it.
  18. It's entirely up to you as to how much more time you'd like to spend hunting down the cause, so I suppose it becomes an issue of how much is your potentially wasted time worth, in the end. If you've already exhausted every option of testing that you know of... and you've already tried reinstalling new video drivers, removing everything in the community folder, reinstalling the game, etc...and still nothing is working... and you're satisfied it's not a hardware issue like bad memory, or heat buildup in your case, or an old graphics card going bad, etc...then there's not too many options left for you at that point.
  19. Stop beating your head against a wall and simply bite the bullet and completely wipe your hard drive, reformat it and reinstall a fresh copy of Windows OS and start from scratch.
  20. Lovely, just what the doctor ordered 🙂 Is that a lighting-only mod?
  21. I mostly fly in the eves and so that's when I see the issue, personally speaking, so it's not a daytime only problem...and this past week around the Long Island, NY area I've encountered winds 15-20kts every night that were unflyable into KFRG with every GA aircraft I tried including the DA-62, Kodiak 100, TBM930, Kingair (analog mod), Cessna 414. While I can understand a C152 struggling with these winds (depening upon the xwind factor)...the others should certainly have not been as unstable and unsafe as they were. Especially the King and the 414 wich are both rather large, heavy and powerful.
  22. I have no clue, but if I had to guess I'd think that maybe you have a key binding conflict, where the same key is bound to more than just the drone 🙂 OR, you use an addon which uses the same keybind to change time of day as your drone cam.
  23. By the way, if you're already using the da-62x mod then it sounds like you might have some engine damage causing your apparent power loss, as this mod is expected to simulate this (make sure to read about it in the mod's pdf file included in the download).
  24. Lets not forget the Black Square Analog mod for the default Kingair...fliy's nicely and is a really nice systems/panel upgrade from default. Although not sure how "light" you'd consider it... but it is GA. As far as the DA62...I never had a flight issue with it either, as a few others have already indicated. Must be something on your end affecting it somehow.
