  1. :Drooling: Beautiful! :shok: 2012? I found a Ram 1500 Ltd. today... Needless to say, I'm in love. I just refuse to buy on impulse. Going to wait and see what March (Texas Truck Month for Ram) brings. To say the least, rebates suck right now...
  2. I know the feeling... The Hemi is intoxicating. My last one was a 2012 1500 Crew Cab Sport... Traded it 4 months and 16000 miles later (drove it off of the lot with 110 since they had to pull it from another dealer here in the Houston area). Picked up a 13 Passat with the TDI and I get 45+ on the highway all day long. I love the car for what it is, I just miss my truck that I didn't even want to get rid of in the first place. I just needed to be smart and get into something (MUCH) more economical. I actually went and walked around a dealer this evening since my driving has slowed down and I found one that I'm interested in. I'm trying to convince myself to wait for the Eco Diesel, but it's also another 3k over the Hemi and the dang thing is already expensive enough as it is. The truck I found tonight has a list of 44. It's pretty nauseating to even think about spending that. Anyways... Like you said, back on topic... B)
  3. +1 This is what I always do. I also use sky vector and my ipad for the charts. For me, it's the perfect combination. In the states, it's almost a good idea to plan your departure and arrival first and then plan your route.
  4. Can't wait to see what ESDG pumps out with this one... It's nice to see them going public with development announcements again. Seems like they have been pretty mute for the last few year (you never know what it going on behind closed doors!) Needless to say, I'm pretty stoked. I have a soft spot for bizjets... Looking forward to this one.
  5. So I dug the LDS out of my files a little big ago to give it another chance at survival... So far, it's passed. Sure the VC is dated but systems wise? It's still an awesome and IMHO, it can compete with anything out there. What looks great on my screen may not look that great in the screen shots since I'm not much of an artist in any sense, but I was pleasantly surprised with the visuals of my FSX as the old bird thundered out of Los Angeles. One World HD Textures by McPhat. REX4 using Novation's texture set that he provided for me. Weather injected via ASN. All this combined? See for yourself..
  6. I threw up at the sight of that picture.. Camaro, Yuck.
  7. This has me wondering... Was development for the 767 started in 1995? At the rate that we're going here... geesh.
  8. No problem! I'm flying tonight for the first time in a few days. I'll have to create this set once I land in an hour or so and give it a shot. Thanks for listing these!
  9. Wow! Those are incredible! What textures are you using in REX4? If you get bored, feel free to list all of them. I've yet to have created my own texture set that looks the way I'd like (like yours).
  10. I'm interested to know what they do next. 737? Got it. 747? Have that too. 757? They've already said that they won't develop one out of respect for LDS. 767? Same story. 777? Perfection... I know that they're working on the 744v2, but I'd be interested to know what comes next in the Boeing line-up. But yes, I'd be all over a BBJ. There was a BBJ package for the original 737 when it was released for FS9. It was here in the library somewhere. I spent many many hours flying as N315TS.
  11. You'll be fine then with a 660/760. Just be sure to tweak your fresh install of FSX and enjoy. Good luck! And welcome to Avsim! There's plenty of guys around here with all the information you could ever need.
  12. To my knowledge, Aerosoft scenery products are pretty taxing on any system. I might be wrong though. I do run Active Sky Next and REX4 with 2048 res clouds. Look at the weather map and you'll see the storms in the North East. I'm flying into JFK and I'm starting to get over the thick of things and my frames are bouncing around in the low 20's to high teens. Unfortunately, GPU's can only do so much. FSX is mainly CPU dependent since it can only utilize one core.
  13. It's not the card as this point in the game. It's FSX's old code and utilizing only one core. If it would run across all 4 cores, we'd be happier than we've ever been.
  14. The GTX 6xx series are the last generation cards, so if you want the "latest and greatest" then you need to look at the 7 series. I run a GTX660 with 1.5 gigs of ram and I'm happy. It works well with my system and I am also Overclocked at 4.7. In regards to my system, I see high teens to the low 20's in graphic intensive areas (with my settings. This will vary from system to system depending on your build and sim settings). If at a detailed airport, with lots of weather and other traffic on vatsim, it will bring your system down. Remember, that's a lot of texture processing going on. Performance like that is to be expected in certain cases. Right now, I'm getting around 26 in the PMDG 777 on vatsim over the Midwest (Headed to JFK from Sydney). After I took off and I was out over the water, I was seeing 50+. The GTX660 is a good card and it works for me in regards to FSX. I recently installed Battlefield 4 and I run everything on High instead of Ultra, so it works for that very well also. You would see marginally better performance if you picked the GTX760. On newegg, they're running about an extra $40 over the 660.
  15. Enroute Sydney - JFK. AAL128 of vatsim. Still have about 4 or 5 hours left.
  16. Whats your price range? The GTX770 can be had for around 300. I currently run the GTX660 and I've been very satisfied.
  17. Browsing around on newegg just for giggles. Has anyone taken the gamble on one of the new ATI cards? If so, thoughts?
  18. I learned this the hard way when I ordered my computer. It's a 500GB Hybrid and I can't tell a difference in load times. I have a 1TB Conventional drive and I can see a difference with normal usage. I should have just thrown 100$ to newegg and picked up a SSD for a third drive. Oh well, you know what they say... "Hind sight is 20/20"
  19. Once I saw an upper level wall cloud, I knew it was money well spent on ASN. ASN is the best weather injector I've ever used or seen.
  20. Hi Brian! First things first... Merry Christmas, welcome to Avsim and the very addicting hobby of flight simulation. A wise man one said something along the lines of "whenever you taste flight, you'll forever walk the earth with your eyes turned upwards." Or something like that. To answer your question, it depends on exactly what you're looking for and what you want to do. If you want to just dress up the visuals of your sim, Orbx FTX Global and Real Environment Xtreme are good places to start in regards to better looking ground textures (Orbx) and water/cloud textures (Rex). There are excellent seceneries available that are about as real as it gets. Fly Tampa, Orbx, FSDream Team are a few that come to mind that produce beautiful airport seceneries. When it comes to aircraft, your options vary widely. There's so many aircraft available to fit just about anyone's taste and skill level. Carenado makes some beautiful aircraft that air great for vfr. I really never have had any complaints with their stuff. There's a whole world out there when it comes to Flight Sim. Your options are dang near endless. What exactly is it that you would like to do? General Aviation, jetliners, online flying with ATC? You'll find a lot of advice here with a lot of different opinions. You'll soon find your niche and what it is that you'll enjoy the most. Whatever you're looking for, you'll always find someone around here to point you in the right direction. Sent from my shiny new Verizon iPad mini from my ranch in The-middle-of-no-where-central-Texas, Tx.
  21. I agree with the first post that I read under your's, Ryan. The immersion. Aside from that, the T7 is easily the best aircraft that I have ever purchased. The detail, the systems, the handling is all that I'd expect an actual 777 to have. I was on the fence for about the first 10 minutes after it was released... "90 bucks? Wow... Really?" Then I clicked "submit order" and I've never looked back.
  22. Just purchased... This will give me something new to play with for a while. ^_^
