  1. I controlled CZQM & CZQX north for this event and it was probably the best CTP from a controller stand point thus far.Pilots were great fun and everything went smoothly.
  2. The Sun has risen in the north, and the warm weather is melting the ice and snow in Northern Canada. This warm weather has also melted the ice roads leading to the mines of Northern Canada. This means no more trucks and until next November, so until then, everything has to come and go by air. This month we are packing up the Canadian Xpress® Boeing 737-200F which is available to all pilots regardless of rank, but only for this challenge and heading north out of Edmonton (CYEG) for the gold mine at Lupin (CYWO). Once fully unloaded, you’ll jump over to Yellowknife (CYZF).There are no fuel facilities at Lupin, so you will need to plan your fuel wisely. You need to fly with as much cargo as you can carry from Edmonton to Lupin landing in Lupin with a 45 minute fuel reserve but also have enough fuel to fly empty to Yellowknife and land there with 45 minutes of fuel reserve.Join Canadian Xpress® today in order to participate as there are some great prizes to be won.First Place:25 bonus flight hours (enables you to climb the ranks faster in order to fly larger, more challenging aircraft) and the Monthly Challenge Award added to his/her name in the Pilot Roster:In addition, any Download product from: http://www.aerosoft.com/ Second Place:15 bonus flight hours (enables you to climb the ranks faster in order to fly larger, more challenging aircraft);Third Place: 10 bonus flight hours (enables you to climb the ranks faster in order to fly larger, more challenging aircraft); The April 2012 Challenge is open to all Canadian Xpress® pilots from April 2nd until April 29th, 2012 so join Canadian Xpress® today by visiting http://CanadianXpress.ca .*Canadian Xpress® accepts 50% of your VATSIM, IVAO or other virtual airline hours with no limits.
  3. People tend to have different views on what you should set your FPS too and I guess results will vary depending on your rig, add-ons, etc. Some pilots have it at unlimited and others have it locked at a certain frame rate saying that by locking it down, it frees up resources to provide more autogen, etc.I have mine locked at 38 FPS. My FSX is very smooth and I have lots of eye candy.Try loading up a flight at the same airport and play with your FPS settings. You will eventually find that "sweet spot" for your PC and settings.
  4. Question and answered here: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/367900-first-and-second-flight/Hope this helps,
  5. When there is no ATC, you should switch your com1 frequency to 122.80 (Unicom) where you can announce your intentions (via text) to other aircraft in the area and you will also receive advisories from other pilots in the area.
  6. Pilots who want to join VATSIM, but don't know where to start should consider joining a VATSIM ATO (Authorized Training Organization). http://linksmanager.com/vatsimvas/authorised-training-organisation.htmlThese organizations have the resources to help you get started on flying on VATSIM, whether it be setting up the necessary software, learning how to communicate with ATC, file flight plans, etc.It takes a lot of the guess work out of how to fly on VATSIM.
  7. Opening Day is the day on which professional baseball leagues begin their regular season. For Major League Baseball and most of the minor leagues, this day falls during the first week of April. For baseball fans, Opening Day serves as a symbol of rebirth; writer Thomas Boswell once penned a book titled, Why Time Begins on Opening Day. Many feel that the occasion represents newness or a chance to forget last season in that the 30 major league clubs and their millions of fans begin with 0-0 records.Canadian Xpress® would like to invite all pilots to join us on Saturday, April 14th, 2012 at 20h00edt (24h00z) for our April 2012 Fly-In where we will visit some famous cities related to Baseball history.Departing from Chicago Midway (KMDW), home of the Cubs and White Socks, we will fly south to Louisville (KSDF), home of the famous Hillerich & Bradsby Company which produces the famous Louisville Slugger baseball bat. Then we head east to Washington (KDCA), home of the Nationals, which is the franchise moved from the defunct Montreal Expos. Let’s hope for the River Visual Runway 19 Approach to add to the challenge! This is an open invitation to all pilots no matter what your flying experience to attend this Canadian Xpress® sponsored event that will be flown on the VATSIM network.More information regarding this event including operational details, charts, optional add-on scenery and the Canadian Xpress® SB Model Set can be viewed by visiting www.CanadianXpress.ca or by directly downloading our Fly-In document here.See you all on Saturday the 14th!
  8. Don't open until you get a response! They will contact your hosting company and shut you down before you get a chance to change anything.Don't let your hard work go to waste...
  9. Good luck guys. Nice to see another Canadian VA!I hope you have gotten permission from the real-world airline to use their name, logos, etc. There have been more than a few WestJet VAs that have opened, only to be closed a few months later by the WestJet legal team.
  10. Yikes! With a response like that, you wonder why people don't like VATSIM. Fortunately, most people are more diplomatic in their responses. ;-)
  11. Here are my shockwave settings for the Duke. 12. Looks very good, Will certainly give it a try. Thanks for all the hard work.
  13. Spring is upon the eastern seaboard and it is time to start thinking about opening up those summer homes & cottages. Now of course, we are not talking about our own. We are referring to those of the rich and famous. The contractors, property managers along with real estate agents and their clients have charted Canadian Xpress® to Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket Island. This month your job is to fly our clients round trip from Teterboro Airport to Martha’s Vineyard and then a round trip from Teterboro to Nantucket for a total of 4 flights to complete this challenge.Join Canadian Xpress® today in order to participate as there are some great prizes to be won.First Place:25 bonus flight hours (enables you to climb the ranks faster in order to fly larger, more challenging aircraft) and the Monthly Challenge Award added to his/her name in the Pilot Roster:In addition, any Download product from: http://www.aerosoft.com/ Second Place:15 bonus flight hours (enables you to climb the ranks faster in order to fly larger, more challenging aircraft);Third Place: 10 bonus flight hours (enables you to climb the ranks faster in order to fly larger, more challenging aircraft); The March 2012 Challenge is open to all Canadian Xpress® pilots from March 2nd until March 28th, 2012 so join Canadian Xpress® today by visiting http://CanadianXpress.ca .*Canadian Xpress® accepts 50% of your VATSIM, IVAO or other virtual airline hours with no limits.
  14. Well done! Nice fast recovery. It would seem that Buffalo Virtual & VA Central also were hacked this week. :(
  15. I think you may have misinterpreted the paragraph. Of course you can connect mid-flight as long as when you connect you are not paused. Once connected notify ATC that you are now online and continue as instructed.

  17. Because of the new technologies used in Flight no previous FS9 or FSX addons will work in Flight. Only addons made by Microsoft will work.
  18. Fix for that here: http://www.leveldsim.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=23089&KW=Engine+start+fmc&title=test-acceleration-engine-start-fix
  19. That really sucks and I feel for you guys.Good luck in getting things back up and running and hope to see you operational again real soon.
  20. One our pilots posted this in our Pilots forum and checked out the video and had to buy it.Can't wait to get home tonight to give this a try!
  21. Once you know about it, you will see that VATSIM is a large community of both virtual pilots and controllers.I guess the part that is missing is finding it in the first place, which I suppose there is a bit of a lack of exposure.
  22. A Snowbird is a term used to describe Canadian citizens who enjoy spending the winter months of the year in warmer climates. It is well known fact that a great contingency of Canadian citizens migrate to Florida in the winter months and when they first arrive are usually pale, this why they are called Snowbirds.Canadian Xpress® would like to invite all pilots to join us on Saturday, March 17th, 2012 at 09h00est (14h00z) for our March 2012 Fly-In where we will transport the Snowbirds back up home.Departing from the Sarasota Bradenton International (KSRQ), we will bring back our passengers to Toronto Pearson International (CYYZ).This is an open invitation to all pilots no matter what your flying experience to attend this Canadian Xpress® sponsored event that will be flown on the VATSIM network.More information regarding this event including operational details, charts, optional add-on scenery and the Canadian Xpress® SB Model Set can be viewed by visiting www.CanadianXpress.ca or by directly downloading our Fly-In document here.See you all on Saturday the 17th!
