  1. When I first bought Radar Contact 4 I thought I had to have a flight planner (?), and I bought FS Build to "import" my flight plan into RD4. I bought an updated version of RD4 a few months ago and have learned to use it without using FS Build at all. Now I dont use FS Build for anything and I'm thinking of uninstalling it from my computer. Am I missing something? jerrycwo4PS Later down on this link a lot of uses were given. I probably still will not use it but it's there if I ever want to.
  2. Retired U.S. Navy (4 years) / U.S. Coast Guard (26 years) Chief Warrant Officer. I was a part time photographer for awhile but now I only do the "digital" work for a large photographer.
  3. From the posts, you and I might be the only ones that really love Zinertek's rendition. jerrycwo4
  4. Just a little "plug" for a product that I really like. After REX came out I could not get my WATERS just like I wanted and then I gave Zinnertek's Ultimate water effects a try. It was just what I was looking for. I also love their Airport Effects that places little oil stains all around on the payment. I love both of their programs. They work for me. I might add I have not tried REX's newest update for thier waters and since I have everything just like I like it, I'm not going to try the new update and take a chance to screw up my setup. jerrycwo4
  5. I can not figgure this out from the info on the Active Sky site. Is this correct...... You can get a free "update" going from ASA to ASE but you can not get a free update going from AS6.5 to ASE? Is this right? jerrycwo4
  6. The Emma Field guide says that this guy will be cutting the grass at a certain of the day on certain days but I have never seen him. Have you? jerrycwo4
  7. Thanks so much to all of you for you timely replies. I know that it took a long time for such detail replies. I dont ever plan to fly a real aircraft so I really enjoy the eyecandy scenery that I get from FS2004. My "custom" Fs2004 rig has a 2nd harddrive installed with nothing on it. I think I'll invest for the price of FSX just to check it out for myself. It will not be a complete test because the "default" install of FS2004 looks NOTHING like my "custom" install of FS2004 with all of my addons but that's about as close as I can get. Thanks again for your great replies. jerrycwo4
  8. Thanks for a lot of great info. That gives me a lot to try out. In your opinion, what's the main differance between AS6.5 and Active Sky Evolution ? jerrycwo4
  9. No guys, it's real U.S. dollars, greenbacks, bucks etc. I still have NOT figgured out just what is SO special about FSX over FS2004. What is the big deal????? Why would I even want a new rig for FSX. No one has been able to tell me ?? jerrycwo4
  10. Have to ever seen the man that cuts the grass at Emma Field ? I've been looking for his for years and I have not seen him yet. jerrycwo4
  11. You are probably correct. I've flown Flight Sims for 12 years and never had an "out of memory" CTD until after I installed UT. I LOVE what UT does for my scenery so I live with it. I have that save program where it saves aflight every few minutes and there is also a "save" in RC4. When I CTD I can be flying again in about 2 minutes time and that includes resetting my views on my 3: 26" monitors. I'm trying differant things to try and work around this, like "pause" and "minerterize" for awhile to see if it makes any differant. I view the window, I think its call "processes" and it has a lot of memory numbers but I can never see them go anywhere near zero before a CTD. Is there anyway to monitor this "memory" that seems to run out? Any work around this problem or any way to fix it once and for all? Thanks jerrycwo4
  12. 747fan said, " The worst part for me was getting my head around the FSX views system being slightly different......"What was he talking about. I use 3 monitors for a full 180 degree view? I dont want any "view" problems that I dont know about. Thanks jerrycwo4
  13. I could NOT find the above file at FSCOM. Could anyone else find it and if so, how? jerrycwo4
  14. I hate haze !! I've spent a lot of time and a ton of money to get my Fs2004 looking the best that it can be and that does NOT include having the land/ground degraded with HAZE. Lets face it, it's hard enought to get the land clear for any given distance in FS2004 and I dont need to "shoot myself in the foot" by inducing haze and to a certain extent, fog. (95 %) of the time even thought I have all of the great weather programs for Fs2004 I use the default weather of CLEAR, NICE DAY, and Approaching Cold front as these do not include degrading my views with haze/fog.So the question is, is there a way to use AS 6.5 and CANCEL / DELETE the haze part of it ? If so, how do I do it? Thanks jerrycwo4
  15. Thanks for all of the great info. I have already been saving. The very "top of the line" FSX rig from Jetline ( where I bought my FS2004 rig) is going to cost close to $7000 ( a so so used car). I know thats a lot to a lot of people but Flight Sims are my MAIN hobby and thats just what it'll take. I'm going to keep my "dedicated" Fs2004 rig and have a completely new computer built for FSX but I am going to wait until this fall until I do. Thanks jerrycwo4
  16. I had the "automatically" changing views awhile ago. I fixed it by deleting the "forward view" command in assignments ( the "s" key and assigned this function to a button on my Seitek yoke. I use the "Shift/S" to go backward. jerrycwo4
  17. Instead of moving your head thru 180 degrees to view your "flight sim world" with TrackIR buy three monitors and have the Full 180 degrees in front of you all of the time. It is well worth the extra money it cost to do this. You would never be sorry and you would never go back to just one monitor !! PS I now use 4 monitors. I added a 4th, 17" monitor, which I keep my Garmin 500 GPS on. Yea, its really BIG (Its not in the below photo which is the old 3 monitor photo) Jerrycwo4
  18. No, it wasn't ActiveCamera. I tried that on my latset Fs2004 computer and for some reason it didn't work with the other addons that I had so I've never used ActiveCamera. I'll try that flyby file. Thanks jerrycwo4
  19. "Sorry fellows, I have both on my computer and yes I do fly FS9 quite a bit due to certain sceneries and various addons, however, I made the big upgrade to a high end gaming machine 6 months ago and have my FSX sliders maxed and with a few tweaks of the cfg my FSX rocks and the dynamic scenery, moving vehicles, boats and high end addons, its a thing of beauty, even in 3D with my GeForce 3D Vision. "I'm thinking of "adding" FSX, not deleating FS2004, this fall when hardware has a little more time to improve, I'd like to know what you went thru when you switched over to FSX. Probably like you, I have hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars invested into FS2004.WHAT DO YOU LOOSE WHEN YOU MAKE THE SWITCH ?Aircraft, scenery, upscale airports, mesh, special programs ect..... Can any of these FS2004 be saved and used in FSX or do you have to start all over from scracth ? Thanks jerrycwo4
  20. I see that the Auto Tower v2 is ready for downloading, BUT I'm not really sure just what this program does. I hardly, if ever put my Fs2004 into the "tower view" so I don't think that I would have a purpose for this program. Isn't it only for viewing FS2004 in the "tower view"? Does this program have any other purpose?I once had a "tower" program that lets you "sit" at the end of a runway and watch the aircraft land and takeoff. Anyone remember the name of this program and its link? jerrycwo4
  21. "running a resolution other than the native " means that flat LCD monitors are made with a certain resolution that works "best" for that particular monitor. Most of the time ( if not always) it will be the top (highest) resolution that it is capable of displaying. The monitor I'm using for this reply is a 22" Viewsonic" LCD monitor. It has the following possible resolutions that can be set and will be used for the display:640 x 480 all the way to 1680 x 1050. I think the resolution of 1680 x 1050 was the "native" resolution for this monitor, but since the higher the resolution the "smaller" given objects will seem to appear. I do NOT use this computer for Flight Sims so I have the resolution set to a NON-native resolution of 1024 x 768 so that TEXT will be large enough for me to read easy. On my Flight Sim computer which has (3) 26" Viewsonic monitors (a wide 16 x 9 ratio monitor) I do have it set to its native resolution of 1920 x 1200 and the round gauges are still ROUND, not oblong. On a wide monitor ( not a 4:3 ratio square monitor), to keep the round gauges round, the monitor must be set to its native resolution. I am NO expert on this subject, but I do believe the above information to be true and correct. I did a lot of research before I bought my present 26" monitors for my flight sim. jerrycwo4
  22. Thanks for the reply . I did hear from the "maker" and I'm going to try the install again. Thanks jerrycwo4
  23. wow, that was surprising. I guess that I'm the only one around that bought this program, OR, I'm the only one around that can not seem to make it work ?? jerrycwo4
  24. Opa comes to the rescue again, and again, and again...... jerrycwo4
  25. I have my 5 castor chair on top of a thick "doorway" mat/rug which is on top of my flat carpt and when I set on the chair it kind of "sinks down " into the rug and my chair does NOT push back when I'm using my rudder pedals. jerrycwo4
