  1. Look. I deleted that part of my post you quoted. I (tho relaxed) am a bit irritated with those kinds of statements. But since you decided to re-post it (after I deleted it)... yeah... it does single me out -- and anyone else that feels there is a legitimate problem that should be expressed. I get so put off being treated like a heretic when raising an issue. We should instead just what? Suck it up? You are missing my point. A dozen seconds isn't so bad... unless it can be made better. So it isn't (in this case) so much about about whether such and such seconds are "bad"... I don't want to make excuses or sweep something under the rug when there could be an issue that points to a problem. This much I can say... I greatly appreciate a snappy forum. And I've been at AVSIM long enough to know it was not always "this way" (the slowdown prior to the drive problem). And many others here noticed too. We shouldn't be lumped in this "ingrate" category because of an observation. It certainly can be. I do not care to explain myself here as it is completely irrelevant to you, Alan. But it certainly was an issue. Hopefully that is past and of no real concern now, so as I said, I do not see any point to elaborate. Like I said... do what Tom says and wait a week or so for the drive-swap and see how things have cleared up by then.
  2. Yes... agreed. Thanks for the work and dedication to keep AVSIM running. Yeah roughly that for me now too. My observation is that it is better (quicker to load pages) now than it was prior to the drive failure a week ago. Tom said (iirc) it will be a week or so before all the new drives are swapped in... so let's give it a week or so and see then where things are.
  3. Some of us are bleary-eyed (uneducated) sods... :LMAO:
  4. This has happened to me in the PMDG 747 @ KSFO RWY 28R... also @ KLGA RWY 13. In my case, I can be "On Glidepath" -- handflying or Autoland, doesn't matter -- I get a crash into something invisible. That is the only thing I find consistent; happens where the water and threshold are in very close proximity. I have heard too it was a Mesh problem (I mainly have the Orbx areas e.g. PNW etc.). I've had it happen on at least two different systems (one XP x64, the other Win7 x64). I've tried also with the default 747 and the PMDG 737. No problems at both locations with either airplane. In fact, I can fly well below glidepath with the PMDG 737 w/ no problem (no invisible crash barrier). The only way I know to avoid is to remember where it happens (e.g. @ KSFO & KLGA) and to come in "well high" i.e. well Above Glidepath when flying the PMDG 747. Yes... similar to you, Paul. Thanks regarding the Mesh = 19 setting... but for some strange reason, the sim absolutely refuses to allow me to set it below 10. Even if I edit the fsx.cfg to MESH_RESOLUTION=21 upon opening FSX the slider is at 10.

    MH370

Or maybe Adam Air Flight 574...
  6. Great pics Roman! Sorry I had to miss out...
  7. And thank you for hosting the AVSIM RTWR Team and the support you provide. You know the whole team appreciates it. -Rob
  8. Am I too late? ( Callsign ) Rob ( Flightsim version ) FSX ( Experience in Flightsim ) Enough to create chaos ( Timezone +/- UTC) UTC -5
  9. Thanks Gents! Mike... missed having you around during the race.
  10. It's the Section F8 F-86 btw... We were doing "Race Practice" for this weekend's MS Round The World Race. Next time... something a little slower with fixed gear...
  11. Yeah Roman... When using Win7 x64, there is a known limitation with D2D.dll that interferes with FS9 while using an off-brand makingcoffee.dll. I'd recommend switching to a genuine .dll like the Juan Valdez. Look for the "Café de Colombia" symbol.
  12. Wing Down Safe @ ENRS Just 437.7 secs of Overspeed (phew! just under 438 second limit!)
  13. Hi TJ, Sounds good. I would suggest then being at the practice session today (Feb 8th) to make sure you are up to speed (as it were) with the allowed race planes, correct Duenna and such, and practicing "passing the baton". This would be the opportune time to ensure you are good to go for the race next Saturday. Roman posted something about starting at 1400z - I think some are planning a couple hours later... hope to see you there. -Rob
  14. Flying the Wing NIUE - NCRG Section F8 F-86 (also disguised as a FJ-3M)
  15. I would if I could ever get around to ordering some adapters for the jacks. At least 3 sets floating around my office closet. They would certainly dampen out that racket from a pair of Zalman 9700s
  16. Wing down safely ---------------------------------------------------------------- Marine Book-ends
  17. Ok... sounds like a plan! (roughly 4pm - 6pm EST btw)
