  2. Oleg Maddox??? Just a thought. Rhydian
  3. Blimey! That is looking really nice. Rhydian
  4. Superb screenshots! That scenery especially is really crisp and clear. I assume its the new truscenery stuff? Rhydian
  5. Yes mine too. Wish Fred would do an update to his Robinson R22 as well. That looks like another superb add-on but i'm not sure if it works correctly in the current XP version.
  6. New teaser video released....WOW! Feature list here: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showtopic=66502#entry724647 Rhydian
  7. Hi Jason, yes i've seen your setup before (think i've chatted to you about it as well) Looks very good, i'm very jealous. Just bought a leo bodnar card to interface with HELIOS, going to test some rotary encoders and toggles to see how well it works. I still cant get over the fact that the software is free! Been grappling with the LUA file all of yesterday trying to get Helios to work after the DCS 1.2.3 update. Have started to look into building a cockpit with CAD software. But...I have a little one on the way, wife's due Saturday....aaah! doubt i'll be getting very far after that! Downloaded an app the other day (A-10 VC free), haven't had a chance to play around with it yet though. Cheers Rhydian
  8. I recently bought the DCS A-10 module and Thrustmaster HOTAS. Have been going through the 600 page (approx) manual, I find that its incredibly well written. The A-10 expansion is superb software, complex and fairly steep to learn but also very rewarding, I think it's a stripped down version (for obvious reasons) of military training software that was granted an entertainment license. I'm only just starting to go through the combat training missions, an awful lot to learn after coming from civilian simulation for many years - not that handling the PMDG 737NG in FSX is any easier of course but the combat element adds an extra challenge with this software. Can I also suggest looking at the HELIOS touch screen interface to go alongside the A-10. DCS (especially the A-10 module) has a very welcoming, knowledgable cockpit builders community. As a cockpit builder myself I was overwhelmed by some of the cockpits on show at the Eagle Dynamics forums. To be honest this 'game' is not for the faint hearted but once you get your head around it, its an incredible high fidelity simulator that has a superb community and DCS is very well supported by the developer. I'm waiting for VEAO's Eurofighter Typhoon module. That is going to be off the scale! I think they are waiting for the all clear from the Eurofighter consortium to produce it under a commercial software license. Rhydian
  9. Wow that's brilliant. Are you doing that for all the static aircraft? Thats going to be one busy airport.
  10. Brilliant shots! I've always loved LR's sense of humour too (Benzoil petrol station, 'Austin' sign posts). Wonderful Captain420. Rhydian (Oh and I do believe the 777 has gone past the 30 mph speed restriction! )
  11. Wow! That is looking excellent. {Searches for his Russian - English phrasebook...} Rhydian
  12. Gosh, that's a good point, I never really thought of that. Good points here Derek. Rhydian. There is some more info being discussed on the Eagle Dynamics forums if anybody is interested. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=93477&highlight=Dimensions&page=12
  13. Looks like the dev units have started shipping. When you getting yours Omni? Would be interested to hear what you think of it first hand. As someone said on that forum, this is like Alpha stage and just the tip of the iceberg. It has huge potential in my opinion. I remember when TrackIR first came out, naturally people were skeptical about it. But quite frankly I couldn't use any flight sim without it.
  14. If you ever wanted a more frank opinion (and more related to our hobby) about the Oculus Rift then this is it. http://riseofflight.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=36461 Jason Williams is on the 777 development team (Rise of Flight) and also the former product manager at Natural Point (TrackIR). Incidentally he says that 777 MAY adapt it for Rise of Flight. But he concedes that TrackIR is most likely a better solution. He also says that there may be a problem coding 2d screens, so a 737 hud for instance could be an issue or at least a hurdle to get accross. Rhydian
  15. Stunning work by Truscenery. I do hope these guys use Marginals plug-in. I would love to see all those vehicles moving around the airport, it would really bring it to life. Good to see what is possible with X-plane scenery, I hope other developers take a second look at the franchise. Rhydian
  16. That is looking really really good uwespeed. marginals plug-in suits the project well too. Rhydian
  17. This has to be close to release, surely? Rhydin
  18. Blimey! Now that is really, really good. Loving that 'blade slap' too!
  19. The one thing that bothers me with the developer version (and I assume it will get updated for the retail unit) is that there is currently no positional tracking in the rift, although they say its at the top of the list of things to do. So if you wanted to move your head, in and out of the cockpit to get a closer look at the radio stack in a cessna for interest (I do it all the time with my trackIR) then it would remain a fixed view inside the cockpit. But i suppose you could look down and zoom in to see a panel, as long as you could find the correct keyboard command of course But the even greater worry is the high frames requirement that Oculus VR have stipilated from day one. 60fps or higher, constantly, might be a real struggle for many games trying to crowbar themselves into VR. Many games that havent been developed with VR in mind might just look plain odd. Developers have already realised that geometry looks too big or too short in some games. Palmer Luckey said that most FPS games have you running around at around 35mph, that is a sure fire way to make you feel sick very quickly. You can play convential games in the rift but I feel you wont get the most convincing experience that Oculus has touted.
  20. Some good videos of it here on Engadget, especially the behind the scenes at Oculus VR in California. http://www.engadget.com/2013/03/19/Oculus-Rift-Luckey-Mitchell-Interview/ http://www.engadget.com/2013/03/19/oculus-rift-development-kit-hands-on/
  21. Yes I agree. I initially thought it was a graphic just for the video, but then listening to Jan I realised its a feature of the software. I thought the way PMDG implemented their throttle indicator on the display inside the VC was a neat idea too, but I think this is a superb visual reference for syncing ingame throttles. This is looking great IXEG, hope it all goes well for the 64bit version. Rhydian
  22. Well deserved Alan. It's a fantastic piece of work and quite frankly a payware project in my opinion.
  23. You want to see it running on a 26" monitor it blows your socks off!
