How to get an RC exe again for reinstalation
As per your advice re backing up RC4 on page 1, are there files asides from those in rcv4 & rcv4x that need backing up e.g. in the registry or windows system files? Sorry to drag up a done and dusted thread. btw I just reinstalled and got re-licensed in the space of about 15 minutes tonight by e-mail. Very pleased there is still continued support as regards the licensing though I suspect one day it may not be there hence the question. TIA.

FsLaunchPad
Hello, I am interested in this addon as I have 8 years worth of scenery and FSX is huge. However many S/w companies have placed their scenery in various locations and not just the Addon Scenery folder. Yet in the setup there seems to be only one option for where the scenery is installed. Can you address this issue please.

Is RC4 still active
I reinstalled RC4 2 days ago at 1am Pacific. They responded with a new key 20 minutes later. I was impressed.

Why Is Avsim Very Slow To Load/503 Error?
Think this is slooow, try Lockheed Martins P3D forum for a slugfest. I gave up going there. Surely it is to their detriment.

Good bye and thank you for the fish
Yes Level D still holds up very well. I would welcome however a 2014 version with full systems like some competitors offer.

Joshua Howard Interview with AVSIM
Good point! I don't remember which of the elder sims it was but I seem to recall at least two of them had standard and deluxe issues in the past. Personally without support for my Saitek panels and TrackIR and my G940 system, there is nothing ot attract me.

Joshua Howard Interview with AVSIM
Interesting indeed, I have to wonder how much customer research they actually put into Flight. On reading the interview I would have to say not much judging by the amount of times the word "understand" was used. They really don't know their customer do they. I am not encouraged and I think they fib when they say how surprised they are at the initial take up, unless they thought the initial take up would be nil.Oh and before I am berated for being a negative Nelly, I am having a good time yet with FS2004, and an absolute ball with FSX since I got My I7 1200K CPU.

What improvements does Flight have over FSX?
You get what you pay for from MS. Zero outlay = Zero product. I tried it, full realism etc, I'm no novice btw, been simming since the PSION sim of the early 80's, the flight model is dire, the graphics are comical. And as for getting online? I have a MSLive account, but would it recognise the fact, I will leave y'all to guess the answer to that question. I have removed it from my HD. Thanks but no thanks.

r4dFSXu1.zip problem
Bill I have no doubt that there is no spyware within your fine MAAM product, I was just bringing the matter to your attention in the event someone else gets a similar report. My virus checker is F-Secure Anti-virus which is supplied by my ISP, Shaw Internet up here in the great white north (CYVR). I know that it is a reputable checker. I think the problems stem primarily from Vista64, but I would take issue that it is a fringe OS, that comment had me baffled. I am enjoying the DC3 and its variants immensely btw and am contemplating joining the VA of DC3 airways yo expand that enjoyment. All the best.

r4dFSXu1.zip problem
Sir,Today I purchased the download version of the MAAM DC3, it installed fine into FS2004. I then downloaded your r4dFSXu1.zip file to convert it to FSX compatability. I followed the readme instructions to the letter (I'm not a newbie btw). When I tried to run te r4dFSXu1.exe file, nothing happened. In fact when I scanned the file my virus checker reports spyware, notably W32/Eshoper.BI am running FSX on Vista 64 with admin rights, the sim is e:\FSX as opposed to the usual. Could this be why the patch does not work? I have tried running the exe from within its zip, expanded outside its zip both from ddesktop and within FSX and it doesn't want to run. I hhave also downloaded the file 3 times to ensure that it was a complete file.Suggestions please.EDIT :- I found a solution which works for me, I created a bare bones FSX directory on a networked PC which runs XP32 bit and a different virus checker. I dragged the FS2004 files across to the fake FSX directory on the nw PC also the fsx update zip file, ran the exe file and it updated the fake FSX directory. I then dragged the new files across to the main PC overwriting as it pleases. Works for me but does not address the spyware issue nor the possibile incompatability with Vista 64.
