C337 Avionics missing functions or not working
Well, No Carenado plane ever featured any system depth.They are more the eyecandy side of life.If you want system depth and realism, you have to look elsewhere.(As this is the Carenado forum, i will not mention any other names.)

Takeoff problems
Ok, thank you. No, at Takeoff the AP is OFFI turn on the FD and programm the GPS to a course with some waypoints. I do however point the Heading bug towards the runway and point the HSI needle towards the next waypoint.But AP is OFF till some hight is gained. Then i turn on AP and the plane immediately turns towards the course but also sticks the nose down rather steep putting the plane into the ground if i do not switch OFF the AP and pull to near stall. This happens 9 out of ten times.NO, ALT HOLD isn't selected yet. What i do once i managed to get into the air and the AP won't kill us anymore isFD ONAP ONNAV ON And then i change the Pitch on the lower FD panel to gain some hight. That's where i can select any pitch to rather stall the plane but gaining no hight at all or climbing at 50ft/sec.It simply won't climb but pitch till it stalls. It almost does the Cobra manuever Su 37 could do but still flies level without ALT HOLD selected.In other planes i flew, i could select a hight, ARM it and when reaching it, the AP beeps, levels the plane out and holds that hight.In the Skymaster i couldn't find such a mechanism. so i do not really know, how to selcet a hight or how to climb to a descent hight without stalling or hitting the mountains.

So, let's just suggest, i am way too stupid, then.I would like you to take some of your minutes and please explain to me, what i would be doing if i were to fight the Autopilot. Maybe that's it, i would thank you very very much if i could fly the plane without fighting it (seems, i am loosing 9 out of ten times, anyway).

Now we have the NGX....
As i just recently purchased the MD11 and am still reading the manuals ( ) i will learn the MD11 and fly it. and be good while the NGX get's fixed so i can learn to fly it, when it's done.Maybe till then, PMDG will have released two or three SPs.Once in a while i hop in the NGX and switch on the Power and programm the FMS to get her into the air, but didn't manage a complete flight till now. So NGX is still far away for me, i think.....!

Best GTX 460/560 ti for the money ?
I use the http://www.gainward....apro.php?id=458 Gainward 560Ti Phantom For me it's the best gtx 560Ti because it is absolutely silent and is real fast.With my I7 2400@stock i get 25 to 32 fps in the VC of the NGX on a FSX standard airfield.And i get 18 to 28 fps with Aerosoft Airport Addons like German Airfields 3X running inside the VC of the NGX.Outside does not count but my GTX 560Ti goes up to 78 on stock airfields and 56 fps on Aerosoft airfields in outside view , looking at the NGX from all sides. If you like to play games and not exclusivly fly FSX you also get a nice GTX.Most normal games will run at 60fps with Vsync ON.Except Crysis 2 with HD patch DX11 (32fps) and the oncoming Wargames MW3 and Battlefield 3 which will be to see, really! One note to the GTX560Ti compared to GTX570/580:Of course the bigger cards are way faster!But they cost a lot more, consume WAY more current and thus get hotter. And not a bit, but REAL hot. So, they even are louder inside your PC. I'd say, right now, the GTX560Ti is the best buy for the money.You might consider a HD6950 OC too, but that's only for taste. Both cards are equally matched in fps counts.

Takeoff problems
Well, i have the same problem right now.Purchased the Skymaster yesterday and it simply won't fly into the air.If you set flaps 33% (which is position 1 for them) and trim it to 6° you will eat up near to all the runway before reaching 95 kts GS before it lifts off.And then you can't keep it in the air. It will always drop the nose and ram into the ground until you fly it near stall (or better said not stall it 1 out of 10 times) to keep it flying level or climbing with 50ft/min. Same goes for climb once you get it flying...it won't climb.Forget about 500ft/min like other Cessna do..... i think this is a bug. I really can not imagine, why a plane that isn'T capable of climbing with 100% fuel without load.Even in the late 1960th such a plane wouldn't be used anyway. I hope for Carenado to put out a patch real soon.

Well, the external model is just been released. No VC or systems yet, though. But, do we need the 100/200/300/400/500 types?What for?I hardly doubt, many will buy the BBJ types to come, so i see no need for the former B737 types, really.

I just checked in the Manual coming with the download-version from the PMDG site (which is the one i have) and it is in there 30.16 to 30.19 I actually think, you are not reading it correct in terms of not you making the mistake or being whatsoever, but regarding stupid acrobat reader.See, when i first checked i clicked on the flight controls section, which endes at 30.16 and jumps to 40.1 as you explained. BUT: If you click on the upper "Aircraft Systems" link, you will be able to read it page by page. NOW you can easily scroll to 30.16 and there you will find your infos in question. I really hope i could help.It is there, but Acrobat reader is conceiling it from you. Greetings from germany, Mario.

Hi there, Simon. Well, you moght get bored by now, but i too want to thank you for the insight and an excelent read.I never had the opportunity to speak to a RL Airliner Pilot before and reading your wonderful, well, unconventional PIREP i felt like i was talking to one now and he just took the time to tell me little admirer and poor little PC simmer how the real guys do the flying. Thank you so much. This is great! BTW. Thank you for the pics from page three.I think they do one thing in particular very well: They show extremley well, HOW ABSOLUTELY STUNNING REALISTIC THE NGX REALLY IS!Oops, sorry for the caps...but i actually leav it that way, because it is really that big...sorry, hit the CABS key, though.But i take this to thank PMDG for their absolutelly pristine work of art with the NGX.This Airliner is finally worth reading and learning all the stuff by heart. Well...ähm.....no!Still no luck, sorry. Anyway. I changed my mind. I really really would like the B737-7MAX, B737-8MAX and B737-9MAX And i really really would like to have the Electronic Flight Bag like described in the FCOMv2 Ch10.65.3 in the NGX and oncoming B737-600/700 as an update!THAT would be nice!

When to switch the position light ON
Yes, The Book isn't old itself, but it referes to the "old" PMDG 737NG for FS9Since the NGX is the most sophisticated simulation yet, it surely is deeper than the book will go into simulation. But this particular book is 95% refereing to real life procedures adopting them to the simulation.There is the procedure explained and more often a sentence like "This is not simulated in the 737NG for MSFS however, but we...." and then he explains how to do it in the simulator.It really helps understanding how things are planned before the actual flight. How things operate and why.The book is more like a real life flight experience adopted to the simulator instead of a knob by knob explanation of the (outdated) FS9 737NG.I am not allowed to give you an example page via screenshot due to copyright issue.But i can tell you, it contains many tutorial flights and checklists, as well as charts for N1 reduction via selcted temperature and how to calculate this.It gives a step by step assistenace into the depth of systems continuing through the chapters (called missions in the book) to go deaper into material with each mission as you pass it.I really can recommend this particular book as it is written with the complexity needed but the simplicity given so it is to rather understand instead of "study"You will not need a type rating before understanding any one word.So, go ahead and buy your copy as long they are accessable. As i understand it, the old PMDG 737NG is discontinued, so i do not know what will happen to this book...!I got mine two weeks ago ;-)

When to switch the position light ON
I read the Aerosoft's "PMDG737NG 'You Have Control'" recently and in this big tutorial the pilot always made the first few steps in a flow like: 1. Battery - ON (guard switch closing)2. Standby Power - AUTO (guard switch closing)3. Emergancy Lights - ARMED (guard switch closing)4. APU - ON -> START5. APU GEN - ON6. Position Light - ON (Steady)7. ...rest of flow to setup the aircraft.... I do this myself all the time. Though, i assume he as a real life pilot should know, i of course do not know myself.Maybe the next tutorial will give the procedures from COLD & DARK to a fully functional aircraft. At least then you have your procedure to follow. BTW: I do it this way (not exactly, of course) in any aircraft, whether Royal Turbine Duke by RealAir or Carenado Caravan or Aerosoft CBY Catalina.1 power2. Position lights NAV lights however i set after finishing the FMC programming or the GPS setup, as for my logic the NAV lights state that the aircraft is setup to navigate. I maybe wrong on that, But as FSX is a simulator...;) EDIT: Richard, what is this "Virtual Pilots Association" all about?Sounds interesting, though.You may drop some lines regarding this?

...which you don'T know.He never stated how many monitors he is actually using.If however he uses two 23" at 3840x1080 on ONE single ATI card he may see some improvement with a Crossfire setup. However as he states, his card "laying around is an old ATI with 512MB Vram, i hardly doubt he will see any performance improvement whatsoever. And NGX:You really do not get it, do you?!I am sorry for you, though.But there is no point in trying to make it clear to you, anyway.So i sadly give up on you.And don't be happy about that...rather than drolling about your victoryyou should get into thinking.As i am purely optimistic, i am sure not all hope is lost on you.

This is NOT about staying or leaving.It's about manners and the way you bolster your own statements with the reference of your "Big guys" once you ran out of arguments.This is silly and pointless.I really would like to get to know these guys. Let's see if they know how to use their knowledge to adopt given facts by OPs and then making the best out of the given situation REALLY applying some support and advice.

And unless there is a decent AVSIM review of it, i will not buy the cessna one.My guess is, there is no single change or improvement in technic like the sticky yoke on the jumping axis on the throttle or the silly centring.All the extra money will go into the fancy CESSNA logo on each unit. Well, i hope i am wrong, however. but i really really doubt it.

I too would suggest, you bring a ticket up and call for service. Flaming never ever helped any! I too have some issues with the NGX but hey, it is the deepest simulation ever, yet. And if you haven't noticed by now: We live in the 21st century.PC-Software is so complex by now, it is hardly ever possible it runs on every configuration out there withoutthe slightest issue. I think, maybe you go and buy three books: Aerosofts PMDG 737 NG "You have control", Boeing 737NG FMC User's Guide and 737NG Copckpit Companion.Buy the time you are through those three, you will find the PMDG site contain not only the SP1 but also the 600/700 versions and maybe one or two tweaks to the "old" 700/800 version, too. Take a breath.Calm down.Wait.Relax! Time will bring reliefe to any of us! You'll see! Mario.- My new Weather config works perfect with the NGX
