Gentlemen; How do I disable the "increase" & "decrease" (F12 & F11) with the external FPS limiter?

As you can see I have a low end system. I've used both gentlemen's fixes/guides with great results. The only crash I get when using FSX is a system lock (graphics freeze & sound goes distorted like an old radio out to tune), and I believe that's my video card overheating (not O/C'd).

I've used FreeTrack for years and am very happy with it. Yes the ball cap with LED's looks silly, buy hey.

Nick's Win7 setup guide breather new life into my aging system. The difference between using and not using is night and day. *******'s tweaks (I do hesitate to use that word; Investigation into the inner workings of FSX) are amusing, at least on my end. I remember when he first posted the "bufferpools=0" findings. Took a lot of heat for it, but won us over in time. I do miss his "Micky mouse hat" aviator.

This in all likelihood is a dumb @ss question... I noticed that you didn't mention that you clicked "browse" after you open the Jar file to locate FSX.EXE. This Jar file assumes FSX is in your programs directory and you must point it in the right direction. Also might sure you open the Jar file as an "administrator".

Gentlemen; I am thinking for purchasing Orbitz PNW, but I have only 3GB of drive space left on my FSX drive (f:/). My operating system drive (c:/) has nearly 500GB left. Can I install this product, or any other (like aircraft) for that matter, on my "C:" drive easily? If so how?

I have a not so hot system, and get low FPS. However it's smooth, very smooth, and with the rare stutter. This made a hugh difference and I can't explain why.. I run a classic windows theme (NO AERO). FSX and every app. that FSX uses is excuded from virus checks & scans. All my external apps for FSX run on Core 1 and 2 (cores being 0,1,2,3). And lastly, and fresh reboot before I fly.... err sim. I get 9 FPS at KJFK (Traffic addon at 75%) in complex aircraft. However is very smooth believe it or not. Most other airports I get mid teens and at altitude and away from major airports I get mid twenties. I was getting very fustrated chasing frames per second and have since turned them off.. As long as the sim is smooth who cares.

That I must try.. I've been using windowed mode all along so that I can get to my charts, etc.

Gentlemen; I my BIOS setting there's HPET (High precision event timer). I've read this is for 64 bit systems... I'm currently running Win7 64bit. Should I enable this bios feature or leave it disabled?

I've used it (freetrack) for a long time now and am very happy with it.

How far off were they? I fly (sim) out of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and CYHZ has runways 24/06 and 34/14 in FSX. All my addon aircraft data bases show as 23/05 and 33/15. I asked my boss who is a pilot which was correct, and he informed me that the runway designations were changed a few years ago to reflex the magnetic variations. If I recall correctly FSX was published before the new designations took affect.

In Windows XP (32bit) I got higher frames in windowed mode, and now in Windows 7 (64bit) it's the reverse. Go figure!

I've always loved the fact that all the flight sims, from subLogic to the present, have had the ability to take my mind off of everyday life, and transport me to another place. Heck I even liked (knock on wood) all the tweaking and solving CTD, ect.... (I even flew Warbirds online for 14 years, but can't see the boggies any more). What a great hobby we have here. I'm very content with FSX now.

Gentlemen;I have three hd's C, D, and F (for some reason my DVD is E... FSX is the only thing on F:, and I've run out of disk space. Can I start moving file (like scenery or aircraft) off the drive to another? If so how?

I too am using freetrack with Bojote's tweaks with no trouble. Freetrack runs on core 1 (numbering the cores as such 0,1,2,3). I use "RunWithAffinity.exe" to make desktop icons for tracktrack, realWXlite, etc.Oh, btw I also took a idea from the board here, and used classic desktop. It really helped my frame rates.

Gentlemen;I have FSX on my F dirve and am running out of space! Is there a way to combine or merge another drive to F to make it larger??

Wish I'd read this before yesterday.. I've applied FSWC and my water textures are gone (Bojote´s shaders). I adjusted the setting back to default with FSWC, and replaced the "waterconstrant.xml" with a backup, and flushed the shader cache. Still on luck.On a side note I've noticed that FSX isn't reporting rebuilding the cache on startup.Got it!!! Just un-installed & re-installed Bojote's Shaders.

I think I've read that ASE is also having some sort of problem with todays date.

Gentlemen;I went from an "AffinityMask" of 14 to an "AffinityMask" of 12. The results were great, and my system is by no means great. Just remember that core "0" is still used by FSX sp2 for a thread regardless of the Affinity Mask.
