Some general observations on PEOPLE, not Flight.
Perhaps the OP could make it a poll.

Yes this is really is an argument of semantics. It depends exactly what you want to simulate. For real life GA pilots flying Flight 'feels' like a closer simulation of their real life experiences whereas complex operations in heavies is what many others consider as a requirement to be called a simulator.

Did I say hardcore simmer girls? I meant hardcore sinner!

According to you real pilots don't know any better. Wow.

Very honorable of you. I'm sure I will get bored of Flight when I run out of content and be back to buying stuff from the FSX 3pd.

I think it worked for us very well but as far as MS is concerned FS was a failed business model that required masses of R&D for a one time $50 sale.Maybe this wasn't true for FS9 or earlier but as it gets more complex it becomes more time consuming for them to release a game that will get crushed on the charts by the latest first person shooter.Personally I think they should have let the 3rd party guys do the content and have a licensing model so MS can share in some of the after market dollars. But it is what it is and I'll take whatever is on offer.

Another RW pilot here that feels Flight actually largely replaces FSX in that if I want to experience the closest thing to real life GA flying than Flight is better than FSX. That, IMHO, makes it more of a sim than Flight Simulator. There, I said it.

Why I like Flight
I'm feeling the same thing (except when you reach the limits of the flight envelope it goes a bit weird), but otherwise the air feels much more real. Its random and and severe near hills and cliffs and tree lines and during every landing I have to stay on my toes in case I get blown to one side, which is what happens when landing a real plane. Its no successor to FSX however for some GA fun and even for landing practice for private pilots, it has a lot going for it....and that fog, is there nothing more awesome than that?

Anyone using SSDs with FSX?
Anyone tried SSD in a raid configuration? Is it possible?

This is very helpful information, thank you.Do you know how to disable track ir panning when in spot view without having to hit the F9 key?

Payware FSX business jet
In the National Archives in Washington DC (you asked :( )BTW The ES Citation X was one of my favorites in FS9 and I'll be getting the new one when I have enough spare cash.

Piaggio Avanti 180 from Wilco
I used to live under the flight path of Westchester Airport KHPN and many times a P180 would come in for landing directly over my house at around 1500-2000'. I always knew instantly it was the P180 from that distinct sound and because it was my most flown plane in FS9 (for RTW) and FSX for FSEconomy (the FSD version which I adapted for FSX) I would rush outside and watch it.

TripleHead2Go

need advice on upgrade for triplehead2go setup
Speed_NYC replied to Speed_NYC's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcI just bit the bullet on a superclocked evga 480 for $490 (minus a $30 rebate). I decided I was spending so much time on card research and tweaking that I'd be better off just shelling out the cash and earning the money back instead. Plus I think the 1.5gig ram will really help with the 3840x1024 resolution and also the extra shaders means I can probably still use the BP=0 tweak without instability. The best deal was here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130551Next month will be a new mobo and i7 chip.Damn this hobby is almost expensive as my real life flying.

FSX vSync FIX
I never had tearing but forcing vsync has done no harm to my system. BP=0 gave me a massive boost (50% to 80% increase in FPS @ KSEA) and the external frame limiter is helping a lot with micro stutters and for sure will be even more helpful when I get a GTX480.******* is our savior (never thought I'd hear myself say that).SpeedQuad Q6600 @ 2.4GhzRadeon HD3870x26gig DDR2 800MhzTripleHead2go @ 3840x1024TrackIR4GoFlightWin7 x64FTX;MTX;UTX;FEX;GEX

Videocard change
Speed_NYC replied to remcoso's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcI have a triplehead2go so I only need one output, it does the splitting. But im thinking of getting 1 x 460 now and then another in a month or two which would be a good solution for the type of power and memory i want.

Videocard change
Speed_NYC replied to remcoso's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcIts 3 years old now. HD3870x2. Ive been with ATI for my last few cards but I'm disappointed with how they handle smoke and clouds, not just in FSX but in any game. Crossfire is also next to useless. So I give up on them I want to go back to nvidia. SLI & physx would be good to have.

Videocard change
Speed_NYC replied to remcoso's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcI have a triplehead2go and an ati card with 1gig ram and it doesnt seem to be enough. The extra ram is so i can keep a high FPS while there are a zillion textures spread across 3 screens while landing at a new york airport.

Videocard change
Speed_NYC replied to remcoso's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcThat is a good price...anyway to add more ram to it to accommodate a triple screen setup?

need advice on upgrade for triplehead2go setup
I have a triplehead2go and its real taxing on the system. I know both my cpu & vid card are bottlenecks but i think the vid card is the bigger bottleneck without enough memory to handle everything going on on 3 screens. Besides its less expense to upgrade the vid card rather than a cpu and mobo. The sliders that make the most difference are scenery complexity from sparse to normal and texture resolution from 1m to 7cm. Water and autogen also have to be kept at very low levels. KSEA is at 10fps with minimum acceptable settings for me (20% mtx traffic, 3840x1024 dx10 with 3.0 shader hack which improves weather speed a huge amount on my ati). It climbs to 20fps as i get out of the city.I would like to stay under 300 for a vid card so im considering something like a 285 gtx with 2gig ram.My system is:windows 7 x64Intel Q6600 quad core @ 2.4ghz6gig ram ocz ddr2 800mhz (2 sticks for 4gig, another 2 for 2gig)asus p5k premium black pearl editionVGA visiontek HD3870x2 with 1gig ramsoundblaster X-Fi FatalityTrack IR 4Triplehead2go digital edition3 x 4:3 19" lcd monitors @ 1280x1024 each750watt power supply

New Microsoft Flight Simulator announced!
Good point, which part are we supposed to like?Having accepted the death of the franchise I am over joyed at any sequel. Whatever Microsoft thinks will keep its interest is fine with me.Speed
