Hi everyone Has anyone else had airports disappear after installing WU16. Some of mine that have disappeared are YARM, YSHL, YINV, WSSS. Other people have reported same issue after previous world updates but I cannot see a definite fix. I've tried reinstalling WU16, and unfortunately cannot raise a bug with Zendesk at the moment, keep getting a server error there. Any help is much appreciated. Cheers Niall

Thanks for the quick reply. Just wondering what others are doing to lessen the effects of this. The only thing I can think of is to always fly with the visibility set below 20 miles. It would do for now but it is a bit unrealistic for high level work. Niall

Hi there Just downloaded the demo and then purchased X-Plane 10 global and updated it to 10.30. First impressions are that I love this sim. The only issue I seem to be having is that if I fly around 20000 feet and above then there is no ground displayed at all beyond about 20 miles. My visuals certain look nothing like the screenshots I see on the net with high flying aircraft. If I am over mountains I get partial mountains displayed which then pop in and out of view depending how far I am from them. Just wondering if this is normal or should I be doing some tweaking. I've got the LOD set to max but it makes no difference. Hoping for any advice as I don't want to go back to FSX. Thanks Niall

FS9 is far from dead. FSX is dead on my system at least, as even with a high quality set up it is still far from smooth. FS9 with all the addons allows a smoother more emersive experience, my setup allows graphics just as good as FSX. Now we have even better FREE textures such as this and the whole world is a delight to fly in. Well done to Aime and his brilliant work!

Ended up buying the Airsimmer and very happy with it too. I'm not having any of the problems, follow the guidelines and all is well. I have the MD11 and love it, and also Radar Contact, and ifly, and Fokker, and pretty much everything else. I think maybe next month will try the Maddog. Thanks all Niall

Hi I see both are about the same price at the moment. I would really like a modern Airbus for FS9 but have a few reservations about the Airsimmer from what I have read. Is the latest vesion a robust reliable product, or would I be better spending my money on the Maddog, which is another aircraft I love. I would be very interested in hearing from people who have experience of either. A the end of the day I want an in depth reliable simulation. What say you all? Thanks Niall

I noticed with RC4 running I was still getting some default FS2004 ATC playing, is this normal? Niall

Bought RC4 and so far very impressed with it straight out of the box, delighted to hear a few different accents in there, eg British, American, Swiss. Can anyone tell me if I update using the meatwater vocpac will I still have all the different accents or just American accent? Thanks Niall

Hi I would go into expert mode and delete all the airlines, then do a bulk install, it only takes a few minutes. Niall

Hi all I'm looking at buying either Radar Contact or Pro Flight Emulator, just wondering if one is better than the other? I like the idea of the different voice sets in PFE but have heard that Radar Contact is easier to use. Would really appreciate your advice. Niall PS I've stopped using FSX on my core i5 @4.2 ghz, still too many stutters. FS9 runs like a dream and I love it :-)

Hi I'm very interested in the upcoming Milviz 737-200 as I enjoy the classic airliners, more actual flying to be done rather than the modern set and forget jets. I have never purchased any Milviz products before so was just wondering what other peoples experiences of them are. I like to fly by the book and enjoy having an in depth simulation of aircraft systems. So would you recommend Milviz products to me? Appreciate any replies to this. Niall

Hi Jeff Unfortunately there is no reflective glass in the FS9 version. It's that one little extra touch that would have really made the VC outstanding. Still the best aircraft out there though. Niall

Hi all Massive PMDG fan hereHave just completed a full flight from cold & dark with the J4100 from Canberra to Port Macquarie in Australia, using ORBX scenery.Never before have I experienced such realism, both from an aircraft procedural point of view, and also great "looking out the window" scenery. Mostly though I want to say a great big thanks to PMDG for the whole product line, and all that they bring to us simmers. EG, because of past experience of the Boeing way of doing things I can start up the NGX within 10 minutes for a complete flight, but the flight above using the JS4100 took me over an hour before I even left the ground.I love the fact that I have to learn the correct procedures for each aircraft before a full flight from cold and dark to shut down. Well, a few more attempts at flying the JS4100 correctly and then I'm off to learn the MD11. That's what I love about this hobby, there is years and years of fun, and also a massive amount of learning in it. Without everyone behind companies like PMDG, and ORBX, Level D, etc etc (you know who you are) there would be a lot of people all across the globe who could only dream of what it would be like to sit behind the controls of an aircraft. Hi all Very sorry if this has been discussed before. I have the FS9 MD11 and love it, but the VC is lacking a few features such as side window reflections. From what I can see on You Tube the FSX MD11 does have side window reflections and also more 3D cockpit window pillars. Can someone please verify that the FSX MD11 has an improved VC over the FS9 version, and what those visual improvements are. Thanks Niall

Just wonder which is better, the Flight1 Super 80 Pro or the Leonardo Maddog ?I'm looking for high end systems simulation and also a good VC with 3D switches, I don't really like having flat panels. ThanksNiall

Hi guys Firstly I would just like to say what an excellent aircraft this is, an absolute joy to fly. Well done.One question for you, I don't seem to have any engine noise in the VC, none of that classic buzzsaw noise on a full throttle take off. Even outside there seems to be no engine sounds. Does anyone else have this problem, or is the cockpit of the 737 really that quiet on take off? RegardsNiall

Well Ronan All I can say after reading your story is that I'm very gald I will never have to fly with you. Part of a senior captains role is also to mentor those with less experience, how else do you expect them to learn and become experienced like yourself. So what if he was nervous, sounds to me like your attitude that morning did nothing to help that. You asked him to "Do the checklist", but you don't state which checklist. It's the same thing as saying "Pick that up", pick what up?Yes from reading the story and not having all the distractions of a busy flightdeck it's pretty clear which checklist you mean, but I'm sure at the time in the environment you created that morning it wasn't clear at all. In fact it sounds like you wanted the poor guy to do something wrong so you could have a go at him. In any job effective communication leads to a better result. I'm sorry but just because you were having an off morning it's no reason to let everyone else know it and they must know what you are thinking and act appropriately so as not to upset your delicate ego. I would say that any tension over the course of the week was more your fault than the poor kid you got "stuck" with, could you be any more arrogant? Did you go through your flying career never making a mistake?Don't forget that this kid could well turn out to be a better pilot than you, give him a break next time you see him, coach him so that he can improve, and hopefully he will be able to enjoy his time in the cockpit.Would you rather fly with him again in silence, or be able to have a chat and relax a little? Thanks JimI'll do a defrag. Looks like the problem was a faulty video card. I replaced the Nvidia card with the original AMD one and all seems to be ok. PC isn't crashing anymore either.Niall

Hi allI've just upgraded from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Ultimate. FSX performance has gone through the floor, on Vista I got really good FPS with a little stuttering every now and again. Now using Windows 7 the FPS jumps from 3 to 191 to 89 to 9 to 120, it's totally unflyable, and much much worse than it was using Vista.This is using the default ultralight at Friday Harbour with low settings for the graphics.When installing W7 I did a clean install, then installed the latest drivers, then FSX with SP1 and SP2.Totally confused as to why this is happening. I had read W7 performance should be slightly better. If anyone has any ideas of things I can check it would be much appreciated.I've got a Dell SPX Studio, core i7 @ 2.8 GHz with 8GB RAM, GT240 video card. I know these are not good specs for FSX but as I say what was OK using Vista is now terrible using W7.If all else fails I'll have to drag my old P4 out of the cupboard and fly FS9 in the 2D pit with no scenery. Hi JohnInstall them both, Ultimate terrain will give you more accurate coastlines, and land class etc. Ground Environment Pro will add the textures.When installed together the earth looks great.Niall
