  1. Hi Gary.... I purchased Shockwave's 3D Redux Lights some time ago before I moved from FSX to P3D but never got around to installing the product in either sim. I did not so long ago out of curiosity check out the A2A forum to see if the product was compatible with P3D and it appears that there is certainly no official support and mixed posts about it working/not working in P3Dv3.x, so I'm interested to know what your experiences have been? I'm running P3D v3.1 and about to upgrade to v3.2. Thanks.
  2. thanks for your reply Chris... maybe I'll give the berlin demo a try then
  3. Switched to Win10 several months ago - love it! Haven't experienced any problems with P3D or addons or hardware and I have several - saitek stuff, CH, GoFlight, track-ir, TFS3, leap motion, multiple displays. Would highly recommend upgrading.
  4. Hi Chris... I'd like to give NE a try but if the demo is not truly representative of the current evolution of NE then it is not going to be worthwhile for me to install it. Would it be possible to provide a new demo? thanks
  5. Yes Chas, FO working fine. I have FO assigned to a joystick button. When pressed, the red FO box in the voxatc panel turns green and from hereonin will handle all tuning/transmissions.
  6. Hi Mike, as mentioned in my previous post I was able to test removing the AI model this weekend. It successfully stopped the rendering of the AI aircraft but there is still the performance impact on the sim - frame rate will intermittently drop by 5-6 fps causing some stuttering. I will investigate further. Having so much radio traffic was great - as you had said previously Mike - I really had to keep on my toes not to miss a transmission!
  7. funny as I have been thinking along the same lines and are halfway to a solution. What I dislike when I purchase a large payware airport is that it is unrealistically void of all aircraft, but like you, I don't want my sim to suffer in terms of performance by enabling AI. So I've been working on a tool to populate any given airport with static models. The performance of static models versus AI is vast. For example I can go from an empty EGLL Heathrow to full capacity of static models, so every gate/ramp with an aircraft, and there is no impact to fps - not that I am visually aware of anyway. It looks fantastic to see so many aircraft. Here's a top-down view of EGLL (SimWings) almost full, I think I set it to around 80% capacity: http://www.fsfiles.org/flightsimshotsv2/images/2016/03/02/egll_80.jpg So then the other half of the story is that the airport now lacks realistic audio i.e. ATC - my intention is to remove all the models from the AI aircraft, theoretically this should prevent them rendering, just haven't got round to trying it yet as I've been focusing on the airport population tool. Hopefully get around to giving it a go this weekend.
  8. no probs.... i feel the same when things don't work. The fact that it works for some points to something else interfering.. windows UAC, antivirus software? tried running VOX and p3D as admin?
  9. was only trying to help with some practical advice
  10. Migration tool (latest version) worked fine for me - no problems with VOX whatsoever... just need to make sure you have it enabled when changing any VOX settings, running the VOX tools etc, as well as for the initial installation.
  11. I agree, this is most helpful - thank you
  12. You may indeed correct me. I have never observed this and always receive vectors - unless I have a STAR (or waypoints of) in my FP. From the manual... "To be assigned a SID or STAR, your flight plan must have some waypoints that correspond with waypoints in the SIDs at your departure airport and/or STARs at your destination. The assigned procedure may vary depending upon the runway in use."
  13. I don't tend to use AI but when I have I also observed no separation. I've seen about 6 or 7 aircraft on final approach to EGLL and only 1 or 2 will land as the others are forced into executing missed approaches. Holding patterns only occur, to my knowledge, if you have set this in VOX's extras settings - you can define any waypoint as the point to hold at and ATC will instruct you to do so.
  14. My understanding is that vox does not assign STARs dynamically - the STAR (or waypoints included in the STAR) need to be in the current flight plan. Vox does seem to observe the current weather as ATIS appears to be accurate as does runway in use.
  15. Chose the LFML -> LEPA route with VOXATC. Successful flight gate to gate. Cleared as filed, requested start-up and pushback. Given taxi instructions to runway 13L holding point. Cleared to FL60 and assigned the MAME3C SID. Hand-offs and new flight levels provided throughout the flight. Told to expect vectors to 24R - which were indeed provided. Safe landing. Instructed to exit runway, then given taxiway instructions to gate 20. All nicely done
  16. Very interested in this topic as an owner of ES scenery... a great idea Kevin to suggest this, hope it hasn't gone the same was as ES :\
  17. Regardless of all the speculation of what they might or might not do going on here, I'm just pleased to see that DTG are proactively reaching out to independent forums such as this and asking informed simmers / potential customers what they would like to see in a new flight sim.
  18. I agree, I've always turned away from anything photo scenery based mainly due to the generally poor quality below certain altitudes. Tony's work doesn't "require" photo scenery, although it is recommended, but I think carefully selected/crafted generic ground textures would still work well as it's really about the placement of houses along the roads that make it look more true to real life.
  19. in addition, the ability to achieve what developers are able to in X-Plane in regards to autogen and open source data - http://forum.avsim.net/topic/463253-new-autogen-tech/ - it's incredibly realistic which is exactly what we need. A realistic, believable world is required for immersion.
  20. For me the immersion level is key so I would like to see all the things that detract from the experience resolved. So.... everything Prepar3d has today (with the exception of bathymetry) but with... smooth transitions when texture LOD changes - same for autogen rendering to completely eliminate scenery popping into view improved AI aircraft that use less resources more realistic road traffic that doesn't simply vanish at the end of a road (alpha fade for example) dynamic autogen management that reduces scenery LOD in real-time to ensure a minimum 30fps is achieved during flight cockpit and cloud shadows that are not jagged and wobble around
  21. I get this too Keith - but as mentioned by others a switch of browser with an ad-blocker freed me up from those disgusting scams. Thank you FreeMesh team for your efforts to provide this great upgrade... most generous and greatly appreciated.
  22. couldn't agree more - I can't see how anyone can put up without some form of SGSS in NI, unless using DSR which is a reasonable compromise IMO. Matt - have you tried EzDok? It has a smoothing setting that works really well with Track-IR, I found it helped to smooth things out for me. However the best solution I found for smoothness was running unlimited fps and reducing the monitor refresh rate to 30hz (through NVidia Control Panel) - I get a really good solid consistent frame rate that way. Unfortunately not all monitors will allow you to set the refresh rate, although the NV control panel might allow you to override (with some caution). Presently I am only running a single monitor having reverted back from a triple monitor setup a few months ago, but I wasn't having any stuttering problems with Track-IR. Even with the monitor at 60hz and a locked frame rate of 30 I find Track-IR to be smooth - as long as the sim is maintaining 30fps of course. Sure, it' not ultra-fluid like you get at 40,50,60 fps, but it's not stuttering. I have Vsync off as no matter what the frame rate is (with unlimited or locked at any value) I never see any tearing and it doesn't seem to make any difference on or off in terms of smoothness for me. I think your best bet is to lock at 30fps to get the consistency of frames, unlimited jumps around too much - I only use unlimited when I switch my monitor to 30Hz. In Track-IR have you set smoothness to the max? I think that's 50 off the top of my head. I use max smoothness and a speed of 1.5 - I expect you might use less speed with a triple monitor setup. Hope you find a solution.
  23. Yes, it was worth it. The two major plus points for me... Autogen popping - drove me crazy in FSX as it ruined the immersion, hardly see it in P3D I use the HDR lighting which is more realistic (to my eyes) Shadows are cool - especially cloud shadows. Sitting on a runway waiting to take-off and seeing a cloud shadow approaching you whilst stationary looks incredibly realistic. On the downside the anti-aliasing is not as good as in FSX - I see more shimmering - and the lack of full screen exclusive mode which means that adaptive and 1/2 refresh rate vsync is not available, causing minor stutters as frame rates rise and fall below 30fps (I run unlimited frames as the performance is better on my system). I lower the refresh rate of my display to 30Hz to prevent this and the experience is amazingly smooth, much improved over my FSX experience. If DTG implemented smooth fading or transitions for autogen to prevent the popping I would certainly have another look though.
  24. great job with the guide David, very useful. A possible addition... in P3D changing COCKPIT_HIGH_LOD=1 to COCKPIT_HIGH_LOD=0 gains a few more FPS with a marginal decrease in the VC quality.
  25. Ah, many thanks Steve - no I hadn't. I didn't realise the Indexer was also for aircraft, I had mistakenly assumed it was only for processing facility data. Sorted.
