  1. I was looking into the screenshots, and purchased the A320 one so far (still waiting for PMDG to come to Prepar3d). On my 16:9 phone, it has a little gap at the top. I'm thinking a 16:10 tablet would be best, have ordered the Galaxy Tab S 8.4" with one of those universal tablet stands
  2. Hi All, I've added a popup window for the PFD in the Aerosoft airbus, since it didn't come out of the box had to add one by editing the panel. However it's only accessible by using Shift+4. But I'd like to be able to click on the VC and have it popup like it works in the NGX, Q400 or any other aircraft out of the box. I had a clickspot gauge somewhere in the past for captainsim weather radar in the J41 so I know it's possible, but I don't have that anymore. Does anyone know where I can download one that I can use? Many thanks
  3. For the FMS/FMC I suggest you use the Android/iPhone app called Virtual CDU instead of buying a hardware component. Then a 7" tablet can be your FMC for 737,777 or A320 whichever you want to fly on the day.
  4. Store all your installers inside your google drive folder, dropbox folder, or skydrive folder. Even if you lose your hard drive they will still be there next time you sync.
  5. Thanks, sounds good. VOR/NDB is better than GPS, and VFR too it will be interesting to see a professional approach to VFR flight planning in FSX. Does the delay mean Airbus will come first?
  6. Hi, I've heard you will be creating training for the Twin Otter Extended. How will you handle the navigation aspect? As the product only has the basic FSX GPS I understand, I wasn't sure of the best way to navigate IFR. Or will the focus be on VFR? Thanks
  7. Yes that's right I don't need to. On a fresh install I'm able to enjoy flying P3D 2.4 + Q400 and my other addons fine out of the box, although I do use the various settings in the menu. Tweaking is always available as an option for those who want to squeeze 5% more but personally I don't have the time to mess with it and do the testing that's required to make sure any changes is not placebo. Prefer to just fly, although I wish it was in more than one plane... soon PMDG soon
  8. Sunday School? Inside joke? I seem to be out of the loop. Not taking it personally since I don't know what it means No I'm not familiar with those threads, as I said before I have had no problems with a large list of addons and don't need to tweak unlike FSX so I haven't been lurking in the Prepar3d forum hunting for these things. I just check the PMDG forum occasionally to see when the P3D release is coming, and the Q400 forum. I could argue all day about how good Prepar3d is but I won't do that here, or risk derailing this thread into a Prepar3d performance discussion. There's plenty of that in the Prepar3d forum. One thing I will say though is to please respect those of us who do run only Prepar3d, who have been waiting a long time for PMDG releases. Choice of sim is up to the individual, X Plane, FSX, P3D or whatever we are all simmers and we all want our PMDG excitement equally.
  9. Great news! I have been stuck in a turboprop since I made the switch to P3D, and had held off buying the 777. Soon I can finally try her out Although I'm more looking forward to the 747! I think those are just some opinions not truths. Upgrading to P3D is not about eye candy (for me anyway). Also being in an airliner at 40,000 feet, the eye candy on the ground is not visible anyway. I only want the eye candy on my aircraft, and on my clouds. The main reason to fly complex aircraft in P3D is the stability we now get, and the lack of tweaking necessary since it now runs out of the box quite well. We can spend time flying and not messing with cfg files all the time. P3D coupled with 2 or 3 PMDG aircraft is a serious sim for serious simmers, and it's going places.
  10. I thought one radio would be fine. Although I let the FMS tune them for me from the approach data but I never checked if it tunes only one or both.. Also have you updated your magdec file? http://forum.avsim.net/topic/336155-magnetic-variation-updates-for-fs9-and-fsx/
  11. Great to see some progress on the P3D licensing. Can't wait to get the 777 when it's ready. I've been without FSX for a long time now so it will be great to have a Pmdg aircraft again even if it costs a little bit more. I guess I'm lucky in a way having not purchased the FSX version holding out for the P3D version.
  12. Get Lee Marrow's HD repaints, a lot better than the default. http://library.avsim.net/search.php?SearchTerm=Lee+Marrow+%7C+PMDG&CatID=root&Go=Search&Cookie=1
  13. Vpilot works well in prepar3d and is easy to set up. To find atc, install the free program called vatspy
  14. Is it only that one plane that stutters?
  15. See this post I made yesterday about magnetic declination: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/436590-updating-magnetic-variation-in-p3d-2/ Maybe those updates can help the problem, however I note there is a warning in the readme about running the fixer exe against Airports ILS directly, as they are supposed to be set to calibrated values not actual magnetic declination. I did read elsewhere that Prepar3d doesn't call up magdec.bgl, so updating each airport bgl individually may be the only way. The only true way to know for sure is to find a problem airport, backup the files, and do some testing with the tools provided by that website.. I haven't got time at the moment as I'm still going through the long re-installation process for my new computer...
  16. Hi, I used to use FSX but now am trying Prepar3d. Apparently Prepar3d still uses very old data (from FSX) and needs to be updated as bad as FSX. These are the three files I was going to use: 1. MagDec: http://www.aero.sors.fr/navaids.html - updating magdec.bgl, but also planning to use the MagVarCorrector.exe across all the default airports to update airport ILS etc that have become incorrect. I'm also considering updating custom/addon airports since they would have changed a bit too depending on when they were released. 2. Navaids Update: http://www.aero.sors.fr/navaids3.html - to update VORs/NDBs 3. Intersections Update: http://www.aero.sors.fr/navint.html - to update Intersections Does anyone know if the old tricks still work for fixing magnetic variation? Any risks/downsides of running these against Prepar3d? Anyone else done this yet? Cheers
  17. Does anyone know what change the F1 tool does in the registry? Maybe then we can do a manual regedit and fix the problem...
  18. Hi Charlie, I took it down because MCE's adding full support for the QW and I've converted it into flows etc. Still in testing but you'll have a much better version in the end. Cheers
  19. I'm seriously considering something nautical now, and physical at the same time... I always wondered if I had what it takes to do sea kayaking. Rowing always interested me as a "sport" but sea kayaking is more similar to aviation in that you can explore and actually go places. Will be some upfront costs, and alot of fitness to gain, and knowledge too, but at first glance seems to be no limits on how far you can push yourself. Something for me to think about in the long term
  20. Boxed stuff again.. boxing must be on the way out, hence the sales to get rid of all the stock

    The Wrong Stuff

Thanks for the link Will, downloading now I'll watch this for sure
  22. Yep this is it, I love to achieve things for achievements sake in general but what do I do with it at the end of PPL!, and this is a deposit on a house amount of money it will take to complete and stay current. I mean I could think of a few trips I could do (but cost a $fortune to do!) after I get my PPL, but with short amounts of time at the same time it's a whole load easier and cheaper to fly Qantas. I think maybe when I'm "financially secure" or retired or whatever I may come back to it.. although at the same time the cost could go up exponentially too. I'm taking a month or two off flying and will think about it. I don't regret it so far as it has been an amazing experience, and given that I love simming it also enhances that knowing what's real and what's not. I'd like to come and finish what I started but I need to think about it.
