I received an email from Mike Ray today. He said he will be contacting his web site developer to resolve the un-secure url in the checkout process.

[RESOLVED] Bad change to forum list
Flyingnut13 replied to henri5's topic in Help Using the AVSIM Forums
I access the site mostly via an IPad. I noticed that the Forum and File Library menu items do not expand. The other menu items work fine. Also, the main menu items are spanning two row, where before they were all on one row. Update: Just saw Tom's post regarding the menus in the other sub forum -
Did anyone, who has already purchased the new book/download, notice that during the checkout process the website did not show it was secure? I got to the credit card entry page and the browser's url area didn't indicate a Lock icon or an https:// url. I stopped there and didn't make the purchase. I tried with Chrome, Safari and Firefox and had the same indication for each.

2013-01-13 AVSIM Maintenance Updates

Aerosoft uses the same forum software as Avsim. I wonder what Aerosoft is doing or not doing to have a stable platform? -
Singapore Airlines also does a WSSS-UUDD-KIAH (SIA62) and KIAH-UUDD-WSSS (SIA61) using a B777-3000ER. I see it flying overhead the Chicago area sometimes.

Excellent! Thanks for sharing. Even get to hear a liitle bit of "Boston John."

In my "base"-ment, because that is where my computer is located.

777 makes a good Search and Rescue Plane? LOL!
Flyingnut13 replied to Paul Deemer's topic in PMDG 777
Here is the AvHerald report, which includes a nice comment from the 777 captain. http://t.co/05n9xNHH -
Maybe this can be added in an upcoming service pack to pass the time on longer flights.

Ok, thanks for the feedback. I tried slowing spinning in slew and still had a hard time seeing any difference. I might try Steve's new AA livery, with the blue upper surface and see if that make the bumps more visible. Thanks!
-
TML is set correclty: TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=4096 As for placement of the files, I have tried two things. First, I put the bump files into the particular aircraft's texture folder. When that didn't produce any change. I removed them. Second, I backed up the bump files in the texture.common folder of the PMDG 737-800NGX folder. I then put the new bump files in there with no change either. After each replacement, I always restart FSX just to make sure the files are read in since I am not sure when these files are read during loading.
-
Chris, I tried you latest bump map files, but do not see a difference. In the attached screenshots, the red aircraft has the bump map files copied into it's texture folder. The other aircraft is the default PMDG livery for comparison. Any ideas? Thanks!

Lajes Field, Azores has some pretty wicked crosswinds too. Living there back in the early '80s, it was fun watching the arrivals fight the heavy winds. Go looks at some of the photos from there on A.net. Cannot post an example due to forum restriction.

Even though this is a B737NG/Q400 video by Just Planes, the B777 slo-mo at the beginning is cool.

Check out "dnhug" on youTube for Swiss cockpit videos. He is part of their cabin crew but has Swiss' permission to setup cameras in the cockpit. Yes, Swiss' fleet is Airbus and Avro, but his videos are worth watching. He is also an FSX simmer and does post some FSX videos too. http://www.youtube.com/user/dnhug

I just finished the Turkish 777 Blu-ray last night. It is very good. The only thing that I didn't like was the missing go-around footage. The crew had to execute a go-around due to wind shear. The footage jumps from the first approach to the go-around climbout, but the actual go-around footage is not included.
