Yep, it sucks because they are great cards in everything else, especially for the money. I sent you a long PM in response to yours, so won't go deep here, but... Anybody running an AMD GPU, beware of X-Plane, terrible support on AMD hardware from Laminar Research currently. Support is fully aware, but unable at this point to correct it unfortunately. For actual comparisons I have a thread on this very topic that has all the details form a few weeks ago in this forum. This applies to both XP10 or XP11. And, regarding the current XP11 build to stay on topic, no obvious issues, will be a great sim, but still waiting for them to get framerates up to at least close (ish) to XP10 levels or at least better than PB3-6, then I'll switch over fully. Till then, sticking with and still loving XP10.51, where I get 50+% better performance all the time in the same planes, scenery, settings, weather etc. And yes, this is on a Nvidia 1070 GPU w/ i7 6700K desktop. We all have not gotten the magic bump in performance Rich is enjoying with PB6.

Unfortunately Laminar does not have a solution. I went back and forth with support for a couple weeks before we both gave up. AMD support is terrible in both XP 10 and XP 11. For more info, see my thread in this forum about it a few weeks ago. I was running a 390x. It's disappointing because these are great cards in everything else.

What video card are you using? I have this problem with an AMD card, but not Nvidia.

Happy to report this plane is as good as you've read. I was afraid it might be feeling old, but it is still in fact great. Have a couple short flights compete and totally enjoying the experience. Awesome bird! Can only imagine what the next version might hold, but if on the fence, buy it now and enjoy. I have a good friend that flew these in real world for US Airways Express, look forward to showing it to her.

Regarding your initial list, I would add and can say that the Flight Factor 757 v2 is fantastic and fully updated, even more so than the 767 or 777, and will fully support XP11 both now and later with an additional XP11 graphics update for free. It's a beautiful bird, by far my current favorite, and flies/performs beautifully. You will be amazed at the added features a FF757 has over freeware planes. REP is awesome too, and I own the B58 REP and C210 REP, but they are staying with small GA planes at this point.

Hi, thanks for the great information. I have to ask though based on there being a v2.0 in development, would a buyer today be in the "upgrade pricing" window? I'd love to buy the Saab as I'm back to investing into XP, and would happily pay an upgrade fee at this point after buying v1 today, but would be disappointed if I bought it now so long after initial release and then had to buy v2 at full price. Sure, the default OSM in 11 is a little newer than 10, but running HD Mesh v3 (which is quite better than stock 10 or 11) makes them both the same. Clouds? Both suck stock even with 11 updates. Run Xenviro or SMP. Then, guess what, both the same again. The fact you have the exact same frame rate between both XP10 and XP11 is actually astonishing. You are definitely the exception, and glad to hear! Unfortunately, most of us get much worse performance in XP11, and Laminar Research even says the same at this point. So, my point was for those that don't have successful results with XP11, simply try the same thing in XP10. Most have already picked a weather addon, plane, scenery, etc, and at that point there really isn't that much difference between the two. They will simply get better framerates in 10 over 11. I run an i7-6700K/16GB RAM/SSD/Nvidia 1070 8GB GPU. XP10.51 runs consistently almost twice the framerate as the XP11 betas using the same addons. Just a thought for those that like X-Plane, but are struggling with the XP11 Betas.

Dude, this is what I'm so baffled by lately around here. XP10.51 is basically XP11 beta without the beta problems posted all day every day. I simply am dumbfounded by the new users of XP11 that don't understand this. I guess I applaud Laminar Research for their marketing and reaching a new market of you all, and there are a few small differences when actually flying if you directly compare the two side by side with a microscope, but XP11 is all about a new UI. The main sim is hardly different. Load Xenviro, HD Mesh v3, any 3rd part scenery/airport, your choice of 3rd party plane, and it's the same dang sim, just way better performance and less bugs if any at all in XP10. Your XP11 key also got you a XP10 key, which they intended you to use for your main sim. I don't understand why nobody did on avsim.... XP10 at initial release was very rough, I admit and yes, I bought it then on DVD, played it a bit and then ignored it. XP10.51 is fantastic, has 90%+ of what you all love with XP11 (and is damn near the same with the same addons at this point), and is stable and runs about 200% better. Open your minds ha, you already have the key if you bought 10..... XP11 will be awesome, but XP10.51 already is if you actually try it.

Nothing special, just snapped a couple fun pics while tinkering with XP10.51. Below pics are my current favorite add-ons I've been enjoying the last few weeks... Nothing fancy or edits, simple shift-space screenshot and upload straight from the sim. I hope you enjoy! Flight Factor 757 v2 at the absolutely incredible BETI-X Bella Coola. Had a VIP that paid extra to land here, so who was I to complain? Yes, that's a tight spot to land this beauty but the scenery was too pretty to object ha.... made it, but the trees at end of runway come up quick! And watch the tires on the taxi-way. Take off was no problem, love the 757 in this regard! Same FF 757v2 (love this plane!) at TNCM, err, well, just past it ha. Ran a little long. Seems when you are warned you are low on hydraulic fluid, it should not be ignored... FF's great modelling of systems made this landing not quite possible to stop by the end of runway. Can't win them all. All were rescued by the nice gal on the sail boat and her friends. :wink: Love this pic of the Carenado B58 with the SimCoders REP add-on (must have if you have any supported planes!). I thought it really popped and showed off both Xenviro and the fabulous free HD Mesh v3. Well, back to some more flying, but felt like sharing a few adventures. Take care all!

This is the truth ha! We definitely aren't there most of the time, but every so often I see a screenshot that I would assume was one of my own real life pictures while flying. The most exciting part, despite all the fussing we as a general sim community always does, it is still constantly getting even better. It might just be by the time I am too old to fly my actual plane I won't even know the difference.... :wink: And, because pics are fun in this thread to compare, here's a couple of what real life looks like both down low and up high on random days in North Carolina for example :smile:

Great video! Very tempted by this scenery. Did have a couple questions if you don't mind. How far does the "winter wonderland" extend? It's a great effect they achieved! And when turned on, does winter hurt performance (other than the falling snow you mentioned compared to non winter mode? Thanks again for the video and awesome piloting as well.

Inherent problem with Xenviro in XP? I'm running XP10.51. With Xenviro off, everything looks normal with my propellers when viewing plane inside or outside. With Xenviro enabled with all settings enabled, the props disappear when outside. Inside from cockpit view looking through window, the props show up just fine even against the sky. With Xenviro enabled but "lower atmosphere" disabled, props show up fine. I also noticed when testing this just now, the window glass disappears as well when "lower atmosphere" is enabled. Additionally, with lower atmosphere off I gain about 4 fps opposed to it being on. Are these all know issues with "lower atmosphere". Thanks for any thoughts, really just passing along what I just saw in direct comparisons. Really nice program otherwise (other than occasional server weather delays/dropouts). Might start flying with lower atmosphere off and see how I like it.

I actually get them too occasionally, even with the upper and lower atmo settings enabled and everything set to the maximum. It's usually like you said, when the sky is gray and not the bright blue it often is. This is in XP10.51, so doubt it's 11 beta related. Also, does any one lose certain "effects" like prop discs or the like when the view is showing just the plane against the sky? Like, say for instance I'm flying level and I have the view outside. On the lower part of horizon over the ground I get the full propeller effects, but above the horizon against the sky, I get no effects at all from the propeller. Not sure if that makes sense.
