Hard to believe this is on an iPad
I do not recommend products too often, but this is worth a mention. The screenshots below are taken directly from my iPad 3, the only edit was to reduce the size of the images and compress them for uploading. Aerofly might not have ATC, extra weather, etc, and those are limitations in comparison with FSX on a desktop, but for total fun on an iPad, it is incredible. Great for those moments when waiting in a dentist or doctor's office, or while on a train, aircraft, etc. Even just messing with it while on couch watching TV, in otherwords, it is a VFR and visual treat, with complete portability. I have X-plane for iPad, and also Infinite Flight, both of which have their strengths and weaknesses, but this thing blows them out of the water IMHO. The working gauges in the VCs just adds the icing on the cake. Well done! I give it 10 out of 10.

Can we see a daytime preview of the same view by any chance?

KLM 747-206M SUD arrival St.Maarten....
Well done on the screenshots. Just wish the beach had been that empty of people when I was there for real 11 months ago. But, I would go back to that island in a heartbeat. Fell in love with it.

Addon you wish existed but doesn't, not planes
ATC voices with accents that automatically kick in according to your location. English in England, Scottish in Scotland, etc.

Offline use help needed
As I have stated in another post, I am new to tileproxy. I want some clarification regarding offline use of tileproxy. If I wanted to fly from say Phoenix to Los Angeles, and I wanted to keep the textures available for another flight on another day, but without going online to get those textures the second time, what do I have to do step by step the first flight, and then the second. What settings must I put in the ini file on each occasion? Do I have to make sure the cache in FSX does not empty after shutting the sim down the first time? Look forward to advice, and I appreciate the help. Kenneth

Yahoo Tileproxy resolution
I am new to tileproxy, as of one day ago, but not new to FS (25 years now), and I cannot believe it has taken me so long to find this. Anyway, I already prefer the server 3 option (Yahoo) as it seems to have an edge on the Bing server. however, the are certain areas where the resolution from Yahoo is so bad that even at airliner altitude it is only just useable. Trouble is, I fly GA low and slow. Specifically, can someone please try the following two areas, using the number 3 server. 1. Yorkton, Saskatchewan. 2. Inverness, Scotland. If you get perfect results, then I obviously need some coaching. FYI, the Yahoo server is great in other areas. Florida, around Miami is excellent, and so is the Kalispel area of Montana. It might just be available files, but the above areas where I have issues do apprear to be excellent when viewing those areas in a regular browser. Looking forward to your your feedback, and all the best for 2013. Kenneth Kerr.

FAB 1 Gerry Anderson
I indeed grew up watching and loving Fireball XL5, Stingray, Thunderbirds, Joe 90, Captain Scarlet and UFO. I loved every episode, and these shows were an integral part of my childhood. Like so many young boys of the mid 60s, I fell in love with women watching Marina swim silently in Stingray, and shared Troy Tempest's sentiments in the closing song of that series. Then a few years later, I fell in love with aviation because of Thunderbirds. Finally, I became intrigued by the UFO phenomena because of the show of the same name. These three loves have lasted a lifetime, I just turned 55 a few weeks ago, and reflect on how Gerry Anderson's programs on British television impacted my interests. Only thing to rival it was Star Trek. So happy to see Next Generation just arrive on Netflix in Canada, and even today I quoted Picard and applied it to myself, saying to my brother in law, "Recently I have become aware that there are more days behind me than there are ahead of me." What shows impact the kids of today to this degree? God help us when they fill their minds with vampires, murder, violence and promiscuity. I am so thankful for the childhood shows which helped to create character and lifelong interests in me. May television find the same solidity for future generations Kenneth J Kerr

C160 Near miss
Surely a spotter's worst nightmare, at least for the people right by the props. While the article suggests that it is unlikely an investigation will take place, because it was the last flight of the type, I find that questionable. Regardless of the type of aircraft, there is the possibility that pilot error is a factor. If the pilot reported he could not see the end of the runway, then he was already too low and in a nose high attitude. Why then did he not power up and go around for another try? Granted, it ended without fatality, but that was luck more than piloting judgement I would conjecture. This incident cries out for at least an investigation as to whether mechanical problems caused it, or piloting judgement. If. I was mechanical, the incident is closed with the retirement of the aircraft. If it was an error on the part of the pilot, he should be given the opportunity to review what happened and to seek some remedial training at the very least. Kenneth

YouTube users hate me - what to do?
The first thing I would do is ignore the bad comments. Without seeing your videos, I do not know if you were sharing them to educate or entertain, but whatever the motive, the sharing likely came from your love of the hobby. Concentrate on that, not the people who love to complain because that is their way in life. Next thing to think about is this. If you are happy with your sim experience, who are they to deflate you in that happiness? Forget sending out videos that make people complain, enjoy your sim and experience your own happiness. - regards, Kenneth

Thanks guys. Yes it looks like a video issue. I did a system restore, but it never helped. Not sure what to try now. Kenneth

Fsx and p3d fatal errors
I am screwed, well, that is how it feels. Yesterday I bought one of those devices to add and drive an extra monitor by USB. I figured it was cheaper than a new video card and also cheaper than the triple head 2go. Installed it fine, worked like a charm in normal computing. Then I tried to load up FSX and all hell broke loose. FSX would not load. I kept getting a message to the effect that the video card I was using was bascally not suitable for the application. So, I temporarily disabled monitor 3 in the display settings, and was then able to loadup FS. then I reactivated the third monitor, and it was working, and after a few seconds I had a fatal error in FSX. I decided the new kit was not up to snuff for the program, so I shut off, disconnected it all, and took it back to the store for a refund. All was well... I thought. Now FSX gives fatal errors no matter what I do. It took forever just to get to get it to load up. I fly in windowed mode, and often change between a monitor and a projector on video card output 2. Now that I have once had a third monitor, it seems that any attempt to resize the window in FSX leads to a crash. Eventually, I was so frustrated that I replaced fsx.cfg with an older backup version. However, the fatal errors are continuing. Try to change an aircraft and it hangs. Try to exit FSX normally and it gives a fatal error and reloads FSX. I cannot even exit the program without the fatal error, and then telling it to cancel the reloading of FSX. And it is the same in P3d, even though I never tried that program while trying out that blasted device. In short, I have both FSX and P3d as near useless as I have ever seen. Suggestions people? Is this a video card issue now? Have I corrupted something at a core level? I think if I have to reinstall fs again, I will quit the hobby for a year and get a normal life back. Help appreciated Kenneth

A Few more for EE Lightning Fans
So true... You never forget a Lightning take off. My teenage was in the 70s and in the Air Cadets. The RAF really was a force then. To me, that was a heyday of the RAF, and any airshow was a treat when it included a Lightning going straight up, and a Vulcan performing like a fighter. Now, if the UK could only get the CAA to relax the rules and let them fly the Lightning again. Kenneth
