  1. It's been awhile since I used NGX, but I seem to recall that if you turn on the battery, without an external source, alarm will sound after awhile to warn you of your impending doom.
  2. It may be performance related, but that is something they'll have to answer.
  3. You can take FOs panels there... With the recommended zoom level, you can't see them anyways :-)
  4. 137.37 == 137.375, so you are fine :-)
  5. I believe all PMDG 2D panels work like this. At least from my little experience with them.
  6. From what you describe, it does indeed sound like something PMDG should take a look. I suggest you file a ticket.
  7. I am not quite sure it's a choice. Looking through the SDK documentation, it appears the fuel capacity is in gallons. Reference: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc526949.aspx#mozTocId38401
  8. I noticed the same thing, however, it's to be expected to some extent. :-) FSX/P3D represent the fuel quantity in gallons, while FMC uses pounds of kilograms, whatever you configure. So, some calculation there has to happen, and it's potentially an easy one - 6.7 lbs/gallon of JET-A... on a standard day. If you take into account temperature, air pressure, etc. those numbers suddenly look different, as fuel density changes. Using a general rule of 6.7 lbs/gal can help you approximate the rounding up you will need to have enough fuel you will need for your flight. Also, I could have just rationalized the heck out of behavior I noticed myself.
  9. Can you also post the PERF INIT page? It's also hard to tell, but that EXEC light may be illuminated. What happens if you press EXEC at this point?
  10. If you know how, try setting the MTU on your machine to 1400, and try again.
  11. Ah, I'm glad I'm not the only scholar of asking forgiveness, instead of permission :-) Or as a coworker of mine put it: proceed until apprehended.
  12. Happy to beta test, if you love getting dozens of tickets ;-)

Rule #1 of aviation: Don't hit anything Everything else is just a corolary.
  14. To add a little to what Kyle said… Remember that both v4, and by extension, add-ons for it are about a month old. The fact *any* of that actually works is amazing. My sincere expectatuon is that we'll see realistic improvements in performance, after several rounds of updates, and not before this time next year. It will take both LM, and various developers significant effort to improve what we have. That said, I am really hoping that v5 will be braver, bolder, more radical departure from the original platform. There is only so much that can be done to improve 15 year old architecture.
  15. Oh. You don't take cash? Sad panda. I'll wait, then. ;-)
  16. I think it's available right now. For 82 million Euros... :-)
  17. I did not see any updates released in the meantime.
  18. Ahhh! If you are close to the pole, you may need to change the magnetic reference you're using! What aircraft was it that you were flying? Then again, this looks south enough to not matter...
  19. Have you tried FS2Crew? I started using it recently for 777, and it's a lovely addition :-)
  20. Yeah, that's pretty much what I had in mind when I said there were many ways to attempt to fix this in the simulated world :-).
  21. I for one find the autobrake issue with 777 a much more noticable, yet I am fine waiting for the fix. It's software. It will be riddled with bugs. And that's OK. Whoever claims software has no bugs, clearly has no idea what they're talking about :-). That, too, is OK.
  22. They also acknowledged the issue in the latest forum update. I suspect we'll get an update soon~ish. In the interim, "my" workaround seems to do the trick, and I can live with it. I keep blaming less-than-competent FO, and it works for me.
  23. James, as a peanut-gallery observer, I gather Darren is an actual 747 pilot, and bases his answers on his experience with an actual aircraft. May I politely inquire whether you are arguing from the same position, i.e. you fly 747, and notice discrepancies; or are you just detail-oriented flightsim enthusiast as many of us are? Darren, also, please correct me if I am wrong in my assumption.
  24. As Don mentioned, this is not too surprising for various reasons, including the facts that data in the simulators is rather old, and as you know magnetic variation changes in the world, but stays fixed in the sim. There are many ways this can be attempted to be resolved, but there is one wasy place you can try. In the PMDG section of the FMC, I believe in Simulation section, there is an option to align approach course with P3D. The way I understand that option, it's there to adjust what plane will fly vs. what the dataset (Navigraphs) is telling it it should fly.
