  1. Thanks Dazzlercee23, I will give this a look.
  2. I have recently upgraded to the latest patch. I am only able to fly in real weather and real time. I can't select any preset in the sim and I can't adjust the time. Is this me or are others having this problem? Thanks in advance, Joe
  3. Yes they did, all seven times. And I really don't know why I check the logbook, maybe it's my OCD.😁 That's funny because that wasn't always the case for me. Computers are witchcraft. It amazes me how this program acts differently on different computers for different persons. Thanks for guys for answering.
  4. Hello all! I have just spent the last hour and a half doing touch 'n goes at Miramar MCAS, California and a neighboring airport KMYF. I must have done at least 7 or so but the logbook only counts two landings. I kept getting Go Arounds at KMYF because someone wouldn't clear the runway so I landed and parked at Miramar. I took off again and did the touch and goes at KMYF and then full stopped. So the logbook only recorded my two full stop landings. I don't recall it being this way before. Is this new? How has it been for anyone else? I generally don't experience quirks like this.
  5. I agree with Dominique_K's original statement. As a retired earth sciences teacher, I see that studying the landscape to understand the processes that have formed it is a worthwhile activity within the sim. And yes, as someone else said that YT videos could be made as instructional videos in geography, i think is also a worthwhile use of the sim. I had even thought of doing that myself, but my skills in the recording/video making realm are severely lacking. I am also have a deep interest in WW II, particularly the PTO. What I have been doing lately is flying in the vicinity of USAAF airfields in the Pacific and looking at the landscape to see how it was changed during WW II and see how it has or has not recovered in 80 + years. Scars remain and current land use certainly is reflected by the changes made 80 years ago. I think some nerdiness is OK. We are limited in the use of this sim only by our imaginations.
  6. A very measured, sane and accurate response Bob. The only one here worth responding too. Thanks Bob. Joe
  7. Thanks Dean, Have been putting the hours on the Tomcat. I am enjoying it very much doing traps off of Key West. Now I will switch my attention to the west coast. Cheers! Joe
  8. The point was to share a a pleasant experience that I enjoyed, albeit short lived. Emphasis on pleasant. I have read so much negativity I thought I would buck the trend. Thank you. Joe
  9. Really looking forward to this. I like Aeroplane Heaven. In the meantime, plenty of others to fly.
  10. No Bert It had a persons name on the little icon. It wasn't AI. name =tag
  11. Had an interesting thing happen in the sim today. Wanting to fly the DC Designs F-14, I chose Oceana NAS in Virginia as my departure. Zooming in to find a ramp parking space, I saw a little plane icon on a space and decided to chose a parking spot close by. When I hit fly and the aircraft loaded, I turned my head to see another F-14 several parking spots over. As I was going through the before start checklist, the plane disappeared for about a minute then reappeared. I have never had this happen before. Someone else wanted an appropriate setting to try out the F-14. I was hoping that I would have someone to fly with but it was not to be. He/she disappeared a couple of minutes later. I had a nice flight around the Chesapeake Bay area anyway. I love this game. Joe
  12. I have found too that the weather matches up pretty well with where I fly. I have only about 20 hours in the sim and I fly mainly around where I live but i have been to New England many times and enjoy flying there. But that wind and sea change was out of this world.
  13. The 67 knots came from the mod that puts the FSX shift+ z stats in MSFS. I will try to check the crosswind landing link. Thanks.
  14. Dominique, It was shot during!😮😁 But the minute the plane settled on the runway, the wind dropped to a reasonable 4 knots. Wouldn't that be metar also? Joe
  15. That's what I figured. It was interesting nonetheless! I used active sky in FS2004 and FSX and I really liked it. But what I would really like to see is Asobo getting it right. The few times I used Live weather in MSFS I only saw the lightning anomaly. I truly want to see this sim mature to the point where all that is needed are planes and specialty sceneries. Joe
  16. I had the weirdest thing happen to me yesterday: On a flight yesterday afternoon (8/16) I was doing a flight from Nantucket MA to Quonset RI in the Bonanza with real weather and real AI. It was a pleasant flight with light winds (5-7 knots) and light clouds. The flight progressed smoothly at about 3000 ft. I was given pattern entry downwind left traffic RWY 16. I entered the pattern and when I was at an altitude of about 1000-500 ft. all of a sudden the sea graphic change abruptly from glass smooth to dark gray with whitecaps. It just popped in. I flew base leg and on final I noticed that winds where at 67 knots! I don't remember the exact compass heading they where coming from but I had a hard time making headway to the runway and I was crabbing so badly that I was almost perpendicular to the runway. If it weren't for having crash detection turned off I would have seen the "black screen of death". As soon as i got the wheels on the runway, the wind reverted to about 4 knots. Weird! So I ask: Real weather or Bug? I think bug but I am not sure. I have very few problems with MSFS and am enjoying veru much when I get a chance to fly. Joe
  17. Five minutes before the "I'm downloading now" thread starts.
  18. I have a tendency to fly short flights around the state I grew up in. I have no addons. After the SU5, i was able to fly one flight. i noticed the change in lighting. But coming back later i noticed that the map didn't look the same, that is the underlying imagery. I decided to wait for the hotfix and tried three times to fly in an area that I have flown after the update and three separate times 3 CTDs. Today I went back and tried again ( in same area) and although no CTD the imagery under the plane look as though it had been painted green with a bad paintbrush. It should have been trees. BUT the next ridge top over I could see that it was covered with trees. I also lost the assignments on my joystick except for flight controls. Throttle worked fine but not the assigned buttons. Go figure. I am glad that some can use it, I empathize with those that can't. It is as though everyone is playing with something different, even every time they try.
  19. I"ll put my two cents in here. I didn't try to update yesterday. I knew better. I didn't have to be the first to get it. I updated today: from start of update to fly now (includes content manager update also) 3 hours on a max 100 mbit/sec. Got nearly that speed. No glitch with update (never have been). Did a quick 32 minute VFR from KIPT Williamsport PA to KAVP Wilkes-Barre Scranton in Beech Bonanza no traffic live weather. I have done this many times. No CTD, no stutters , no pause no popping in. I did notice the following three things overall brightness increase, some slight shimmering in a few buildings and decreased sharpness of clouds. I have an Intel cpu ay 3.7G, 32 G memory at 2900 Mh and a 1080Ti. My settings are almost all ultra. I don't watch mu FPS, as long as it is smooth I don't care what the frames are. I also don't heavily mod anything. The takeaway: I see no difference in my machine's performance between last update and yesterdays except for the three things I mentioned. I am pleased. Perhaps I am a fortunate son. Joe

  22. Wow! The hands on my clock are going around soooooooo slow. It has been three hours since I saw the hands where they were three hours ago.
  23. Yes i do. but presently I use a 34" curved ultrawide screen with res of 3440 x 1440. This is to not tie up the family TV.
