Logging tool to track changes for Prepar3D.cfg file?
gaab replied to 787flyer's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
Of course 😉 And when I update something, I always keep a backup. Concerning update of Prepar3D, this allow to see what are the changes introduced by the update (comparing with the previous default), and decide parameters I want to re-install (comparing with my last backup), very easily thanks to Winmerge... 50 years of IT ... this is named version management 😉 Gérard -
Logging tool to track changes for Prepar3D.cfg file?
gaab replied to 787flyer's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
If you want to see in detail changes in a file, I would suggest the OpenSource WinMerge. It is not specifically for Prepar3d.cfg but does a great job to compare files and folders. I use it everytime I want to check what as been modified by installers, for example. I will find it here https://winmerge.org Gérard -

Just a note on other company port on MSFS Sorry, but don't expect to see me one day on MSFS.... Gérard

Frankly, I don't expect ORBX making any free update for Prepar3D, now 😞 I even wonder if we will get one day the loooong waited OLC Asia 😥😥 Gérard Nota : I keep a copy of the differents terrain.cfg (original by LM, after update for Tongass Fjord). Using the procedure proposed by F737FG, I will keep another copy 🙂 Thanks to the Open Source Winmerge, it is very easy to check what have change in a file or folder. As I am very mistrustful, I use it for most of the change or mods proposed anywhere...

My personnal experience is very positive. A large improvement of the performance (DX12). My configuration is similar to your's except the graphic card which is "only" a GTX1080. But you probably know that some have stutter issue. In your case, I would wait for the anounced fix which should be available very soon. But you will loose Environnement Force ;)... Gérard

May I repeat that Environnement Force is a completly different type of product from Sf3d and Active sky, so you have to launch it independently ... and enjoy the result while you stay in P3D v4. 🙂 Gérard
-
If you run Active Sky, in that case Skyforce will only provide the texture. Running Sf3d in the background will also update the models according to the weather but you better ensure that the weather engine is disabled. For a complete discussion, see here Gérard

Not at all ! These are completly different beast... Take care that Environnement Force is not working in V5, if and when you upgrade... Gérard

Just to let you know that full clean Windows 10 re-install (including C formatting) was the solution. It's like I have a brand new PC 🙂 Gérard
-
Yes and No 😉 This and other symptoms are pushing me toward a full Windows re-installation 😞 And I hate this idea.. Any way - thank you for taking the time to test and answer. Gérard

I am not sure if this can help: - With default fresh installation, I get Lp0 at 100% even at the scenario screen (when one would expect a quasi idle system). This was also true with 5.2.. Only opening from there the "Option" panel stops this 100% Lp0. I would appreciate if someone would be kind enought to tell if he see the same (simply looking at Task Manager after opening the scenario screen). You can take a look here https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/611522-mainthreadscheduler-core-at-always-100/ Gérard Also for me, English is not first language 😉

airport destination
gaab replied to TGDXB's topic in Little Navmap | Little Navconnect | Little Logbook Support Forum
Because the gate is not a destination. Just right click on the airport icon and you will see the set as destination in the popup menu entry... Gérard- 1 reply

I understand the information given by Beau Hollis, but at the scenario screen there should be few activity... Any one could make the same test (just with the Task Manager. Thanks Gérard

Help appreciated, From several month now, I find the processor 0 is always at 100%, despite "modest" parameters values considering my medium high configuration... As I am making a clean install of Prepar3d V5.3, I decided to go step by step and check what's going on. To my surprise, (after moving MainThreadScheduler to 2 to verify), I see the MainThread at 100% already from the scenario screen ! Nothing else installed ! Does anybody see this strange behavior ? Shall I envisage a full Windows (10) reinstall ? I don't see this phenomena with other applications 😞 Any suggestion of what could be the root cause of this behevior is very welcome. Thanks Gérard
