  2. Prepar3D v4.3 has been released Prepar3D v4.3 (4.3.29.25520) Here is the official announcement Including the Change-Log https://www.prepar3d.com/latest-news/ Please see the link below for a step by step guide to update Prepar3D using the update component Installers You can also follow this link for a video tutorial on this process
  3. Hello Mostly these texture Add on's will modify default files in the following folders, ShadersHLSL, Textures, Effects\Textures, Scenery\World\Texture, Scenery\Global\Texture, Sound, Weather Some of these Add On's do offer an uninstall process which will return these files to default again some don't. Willy does have the right Idea, To create a complete copy of your Prepar3D Install folder and then you can replace the texture folder and so on as required Failing that you could repair the components they fall into these categories 1) Client: ShadersHLSL 2) Content: Textures, Effects\Textures, Sound, Weather 3) Scenery: Scenery\World\Texture, Scenery\Global\Texture
  4. Hello As the rest have suggested some light house keeping might help The link below will show you the locations of 3 files / foldres you could delete and let Prepar3D generate again, This will not effect your Add On's https://www.prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=127074#p170021
  5. Hello Yes you can update from version v4.1 to v4.3 or even v4 to v4.3, Each component update is a full fat release which has all previous updates included

  12. Hello Are you using the Add On Envshade ? If so this Add On will need to be update for Prepar3D v4.2
  13. Hello Vic Yes we are saying the same thing. 1 License of Prepar3D Entitles you to Install 1 copy of Prepar3D on 1 machine. For example 1 License of Prepar3D v4 entitles you to Install 1 copy of Prepar3D v4 on 1 machine. 2 copy of Prepar3D v4 on the same machine will not function due to the register key's being tied to only one version. If a user has a License for Prepar3D v3 & v4 they can Install together as they will coexist (work) on the same machine no problem
  14. Hello Bill You can only Install one version of Prepar3D v3 or v4 on the same machine, You can not Install 2 of the same versions of Prepar3D on one computer. But you can Install Prepar3D v3 & v4 on the same computer as they can coexist no problem together
  15. Hello Don't worry about not being able to find the 2 files because you have already run the Delete generated files command Yes ? And this will remove all generated files ------------ If you were missing a Default Prepar3D yellow folder in the core location this would also give this Issue Can you see all 18 default yellow folders below in your core folder --------------------------------- Have you tried deleting the Prepar3D v4 Add-on's folders and the Prepoar3D v4 files folder in your Documents location ? -------------- You could Delete the complete Scenery folder above and then run a repair in the Windows Control Panel, Delete the Scenery folder, Then Right click on Prepar3D v4 Scenery and click Repair This will not effect any Add On's really. You will just need to reinstall Orbx Global base if you have it
  16. Hello Try these (In this order) 1) Disable any Antivirus Software you may, Then launch Prepar3D and test, If successful Insure you add the complete core Prepar3D folder to the Exclusions Zone. This will stop any of the Prepar3D files been detected as False Positives. Also Disable the UAC User Account Control Windows Defender: If you are using Windows Defender Turn Off "Real Time Protection" and "Controlled folder access" and then launch Prepar3D and test, If successful make sure you add the complete core Prepar3D folder to the Exclusions Zone of Windows Defender Like This You can also add an Exclusion for "Controlled folder access" OR just turn this Option Off ------------------------------ 2) Launch Prepar3D as administrator Navigate to your Prepar3D core folder right click on the Prepar3D.exe and run as administrator ------------------------------ 3) Have you also tried deleting the terrain.cfg file yet ? This file will also generate again when Prepar3D is launched next Copy Tex below and Paste into your Windows search bar and click on the result, this will bring you directly to the correct locations Delete the terrain.cfg file, Then launch Prepar3D and test %PROGRAMDATA%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4 ------------------------------ 4) Delete these 2 files Prepar3D_Default.fxml \ Prepar3D_Default.wx This will not effect your Add on's or settings. These files will generate again when Prepar3D is launched next %LOCALAPPDATA%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4 Then Launch Prepar3D and test ------------------------------ 5) Right click and Rename both dll.xml files located below to Off (dll.xmlOff) %PROGRAMDATA%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4 %APPDATA%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4 Then Launch Prepar3D and test ------------------------------ 6) You have run a Repair on your Prepar3D Install yes ? Navigate to the windows Control Panel right click Prepar3D Academic \ Professional and click Change and click Repair Then Restart your computer and launch and test ------------------------------ 7) Remove the Prepar3D generated folders that is generated during the program execution These folders and files will generate again when Prepar3D is launched next. Note: This process will disable your Add On's and bring Prepar3D back to a default state. Navigate to your core Prepar3D v4 folder, Scroll down a bit, Double left Click on the file Delete Generated files, A small black window will appear and then disappear again, this is normal Then launch Prepar3D and test Try them steps
  17. Hello A small tip for anybody wondering (Like Me) Why your GTX Graphics card is over heating when Idle just surfing the Web. I have a 980ti and noticed with EVEGA Precision opened my Temps were heating to 75 C just browsing the web really. Initially I couldn't figure out why my card was getting so hot, It should Idle at 39 C with no fans running at all. It turns out I had "Preferred Maximum Performance" turned on in the NVidia Control Panel (Gaming Mode) This was set in Global Settings and not to an Individual Program, Meaning my card was always running on Maximum Power (Maximum heat) I turned this back to the default "Optimal Power" and restarted my computer and my Temps Immediately fell back to 39 C even with no fans running And that's was it, Just a small Tip but made me worry my Graphics card was on its way out Right click on your Desktop click into NVidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Global and scroll down to "Power Management Mode" Click "Optimal Power" and click Apply (Bottom right) When finished, Restart your computer If you have a Program you want to run on Maximun Power, Like Prepar3D, You can set this up in the Program Settings and not in Global Settings Note Ensure you also Adjust your fans for the extra heat , Or set up an Automatic Fan Curve In EVEGA Precision to kick in when the heat rises
  18. Hello Mike Try these steps one by one......... 1) Regardless weather or not this will fix your Issue, Delete the Shaders folder and the Prepar3D.cfg file and let Prepar3D generate these again when launched next. 2) Do you have any FSDT Add On's, If so please See Here 3) Right click and Rename your 2 dll.xml files, the one in ProgramData and AppData\Roaming, Then launch Prepar3D, Shut it down and test ? Does this work ? 4) Right click and Rename your 2 exe.xml files, the one in ProgramData and AppData\Roaming. Then launch Prepar3D, Shut it down and test ? Does this work ? If Renaming any of these files resolved your Issue you can then look closer at your Utility Add On's You can just simply rename these files back again when you are finished
