  1. Same with Lufthansa's Super Connies and Starliners. LH first preferred the DC-6B, but chose the Connies in the end. On every third flight or so, one engine failed.
  2. Can you elaborate with evidence?
  3. I find Anubhav's objection not odd at all. The sarcastic response to him however falsely accused him that he wanted update statements terminated or styled his way when in fact he just referred to the non-information in NOTAM #3. This is at least a gross distortion of his point. Let's stay factual here, then. Of course you may design your announcements as you wish, but as everything in life, not everybody will agree and it would be a shame if one day we lived in a world where only the cheer squads may speak up unchallenged. I say that as a satisfied PMDG customer. I ackowledge the differentiation of the 'unicorn' statement. Thanks for the clarification.
  4. Question is: who's the pack? Pardon me, but was not Kyle's sarcasm as equally "shortsighted and irrationally accusatory" as had been James' 'unicorn' remark? You could say James also was just being humorous then. Equal measurement for all, please. And claiming that you're doing something by announcing pronounced non-information? Teasing and exciting people is great. But you cannot blame people becoming impatient or disappointed or simply fed up at times, especially when you announce new projects before completing the pending ones. You have to expect it in advance. It doesn't excuse rude behaviour, sure, but makes it a bit more understandable and asks for more sensitivity.
  5. Ryan, this is marketing I guess. If the teasing brings you to constantly check for news, you're already a very likely customer, at least you stick to the label, I call that the Apple effect. That I say without any critical undercurrent. However, I'm also thinking that too much teasing might backfire. Many people here seem to have already made up their minds about what they wish for or what they expect PMDG to do next. The danger of disappointment is big, but then again, PMDG know the marketing psychology probably better than me.
  6. To the apology of all MD-11 fans one must say that Douglas fans are as Douglas planes: rugged and durable and you can crash them, but not wear them down. :-) Oh, I forgot: Thanks for the quick update on the DC-6, I appreciate it very much!
  7. It is uneconomical and unreasonable to pay a whole lot of bucks for a swap when you can fix the broken thing easily and constrain yourself to the KISS principle. Just read the AVSIM FSX Config Guide and don't run every feature and addon at once and at peak quality.
  8. Concur. It is also said that the 747 may well be the Queen of the Skies, however the DC-10/MD-11 is certainly the Diva thereof.
  9. Isn't there a backslash missing after the G:? And one Roman "I" too much, 5 instead of 4 (besides the fact that I'd rather make IX=9)? Or am I embarassing myself?
  10. That sounds plausible, one should always seek the easiest answer. If the shortcut is broken you could reinstall till eternity. Try to start FS9 from the FS9 installation folder directly. If it works, make a new desktop shortcut. Other ideas: Combatibility mode? Driver related issues? Also read something about a "DirectPlay" feature that must be activated as a standard Windows feature ("Legacy Components")? And some "MSCVR70.DLL" sometimes needed to be installed into "sysWOW64". But these are just information given otherwise (German), so do not charge me on them.
  11. Lufthansa calls their MD-11 "die Elfen", a wordplay in German of course with the number eleven morphing into "the elves". I find it a rather compelling name. Sorry to hear that some have problems with Win10. I have had no issues whatsoever, but I hope that you may overcome the problems, because the PMDG MD-11 still is beyond awesome.
  12. It is always a question of what you use your sim for. I'm a follower of the KISS principle. Why do I need to change my platform if I simply fly a couple of types some of which won't ever be available for P3D, like the PMDG MD-11? Why waste money for all these good things I could never possibly enjoy so much to equal their price. And I really don't care if I could spot the the McDonald's logo out of the window of the plane if I had the newest scenery. HD scenery stuff is all very nice and intruiging, but not the main point of flight simulation. Therefore, if you are careful you can still run FSX without crashes. As I said: keep it simple, stupid. And less is often more. I even bet that there are some FS9ers out there that use their good old FS2004 more realistically than some of the P3D cheer squads.
  13. Try this archived site https://web.archive.org/web/20120504104718/http://precisionmanuals.com/pages/downloads/paintkits.html Search for another website image if not available. Best regards, Christian Kelter
  14. FS9 still has its legitimacy and I go on using it. I run it foremost for specific IFR practice. The neat thing about FS9 is, that you shoot it up and it runs smoothly and you can do all the things you can do with more modern sims.
  15. Great news, great project. Once I thought to buy the Islander but restrained from it, and I probably never will (even with this fine mod), but I appreciate the hard voluntary contribution to the community. Keep on!
  16. Ask a fortuneteller what he thinks the Chaldaean Oracle would foresee on Mr. Randazzo's fortune cookie. This will definitely gain more fact-grounded results than this conversation here.
  17. A few general remarks. 1. As for the rain effects and them not being designed for FSX/P3D, let me quote Scotty: "There's nothing like the impossible to bolster one's miraculous reputation." ;-) 2. Rain affects the outside visibility. It is more intrinsically linked to aviation or flight simulation than the lavatory. It matters, even if only a tiny bit. 3. This of course does not necessarily mean that I'm of the opinion ("bragging") that PMDG should do them. Best regards, Christian Kelter
  18. Superman (Christopher Reeve ultra HD edition)
  19. You read my mind, Gregg! That's exactly why I began to restrain myself. Therefore the PMDG MD-11 and the Leonardo Maddog will be the only planes I will fly in the jetliner segment, even though they're comparatively old. I simply don't have the time or will to fly all these other fine jetliners out there. Less is more. Or KISS. Btw, Leonardo SH will publish their FlythemaddogX before 2018, they say, which is enough for me.
  20. Does it really matter what PMDG will do next? PMDGs' fanatic fanbase will buy whatever they release, on release day of course. It's the A**le effect.
  21. Apparently, there was a boxed version which is still available, at least here at German Amazon.
  22. Since I'm no professional and do not have an entertainment license for P3D, I`ll still stick with *outdated* FSX, even *prehistorical* FS9, and the *antique* MD-11. Let the others boast and argue about their bigger, better, prettier, faster, newer sims, while I simply fly. Live and let live. And I don't normally fly heavy metal (jets and FMCs are for kids anyway), but when I do, it's the PM3D, sorry: PMDG MD-11.
  23. Hi, search the Internet Archive for an image of PMDG's website earlier than 2015. There you will find all the older liveries (also for other legacy products). Hope this helps.
  24. They could do a Lockheed C-141 Starlifter. I loved those fine elegant birds flying over my hometown arriving at ETAR Ramstein AFB in the 90s.
  25. The children complaining at least have a chance to get their own will, the "good" children flinching do not. Best regards, Christian Kelter
