  1. I think my first intro to FS was FS95 but the first flight simulator I ever really got addicted to was Jane's F15. For a game that's almost 20 years old, the visuals were/are pretty stunning for its time (Google image search it).
  2. Ctrl-Alt-Printscreen will capture everything as you see on the monitor (e.g. post effects). Paste it into MS Paint and save. If you're using ReShade, then just hit Printscreen. I mean, some screenshots in this thread would be helpful as opposed to just talking about messaging config files...
  3. Really. How many flightsim developers or publishers offer a refund? Why, then, is this even an issue?
  4. Wasn't made in-house. Made by Innovative Development Studios.
  5. I can't know for sure but one, er, glaring issue with folks judging colors and brightness with people's PTA and ReShade settings is that it's difficult to compare what things look like on different monitors. I've tweaked the hell out of both PTA and ReShade and, like Brian, am smitten with the results. It's truly incredible. But sharing my presets and settings could likely just result in disappointment. And one other (Brian), be sure to also post your HDR settings. Good job buddy and glad you found "the light!"
  6. Hey Manny, good to hear. I think MoBos suffer from some of the biggest QC oversights; they typically have more angry reviewers than any other component. I gambled and got an ASRock Z170 Extreme6 since I had a good experience with the ASRock Z77 that I had for my Ivy Bridge build. Pulling the trigger on the former was a little nerve-wracking considering how many bad reviews there are on that board but it's held up well.... so far. Anyway, glad you're up and running again.
  7. And I think we're about to spend a lot more busting through internet data caps if ORBX wants us to redownload everything every time we reinstall. How is nobody talking about this?
  8. Why do people abbreviate "thanks"? Do you really save that much time by omitting several letters? On another note, with threads like these, who needs America's Got Talent or DwtS?
  9. Also keep in mind the rule of thumb to divide the memory speed by the CAS. It should help in comparing different RAM setups. Higher factor is better.
  10. Color me doubtful as well. My understanding is that KL will be more efficient in terms of heat and power and that's about it. And it will include microcode out of the box that can properly deal with prime numbers
  11. You'd think that bug would be fixed by LM. If the mere management of time doesn't fall squarely within even the most basic responsibility of LM's development, then what in the world does?
  12. Hi there. I was mostly talking about the delidding tool but yeah, come to think of it, the $300 for the 6700k was a bit over the top. But as they say, it's worth what you pay...
  13. A little more than I had wanted to spend. I should probably go ahead and sell mine. I can't imagine I'll be getting a new processor any time in the next couple of years and would have to think that, by the time I do, it wouldn't be the same size and/or fit in the Rockit88. Who knows.
  14. Will give it a shot. Thanks so much. PTA has really breathed new life into P3D.
  15. Mark - did you check your Prepar3d.CFG and make sure that "sysclock=1"?
  16. I delidded merely to keep the heat down. My 6700k is really voltage-limited anyway. Nothing like dropping $300 on a CPU only to immediately void its warranty! And I can vouch for the Rockit88 tool. It almost took the fun out of it.
  17. Oh yeah, I've tried all of that. I've even played around with the night tonemap exposure in the Prepar3D.cfg. I do need to backtrack on that code though; raising the value over 1 seems to make the clouds darker even during the day. Shucks!
  18. That's certainly true and I can sympathize if you have a bunch of addons that are currently pointing toward your current directory.
  19. Jeff: I think you're overthinking things a bit. A notation like that, alone, shouldn't be a big deal-breaker. That being said, I always install to C:\Prepar3D v3 and install everything but AS16 and FSGlobal2010 to my C: drive as well. I know old habits die hard but I'd recommend installing outside of those folders as well. Lastly, I hate to pick sides, but I'd consider the "other" 737 instead. I own both and I don't even think I have the iFly installer on my storage drive anymore. The other one gets better frames (although apparently iFly issued a performance update for the 737 recently, even though I had figured they weren't ever going to touch the product again) looks a little bit better despite some claims that the window geometry is off. There are also some neat addons available for it such as FS2Crew (the FS2Crew for the iFly is very old), FSFX Immersion and a new sound package that's getting good reviews, just to name a few.
  20. Hey Yuri. I have two suggestions, one's quick and one may not be (but I can go ahead and give you the code). First, on the HDR & Post Processing tab, you have a typo @ "Contrast tunung." Secondly, once I started getting knee-deep into tweaking, especially when also tuning HDR and ReShade settings, I noticed that my clouds became almost pitch black at night. I had gotten everything perfect, even matching lots of scenarios with random aviation photos I was finding on the internet (yeah, I've been getting that involved). But as it stands now, and with earlier versions of PTA, the cloud brightness at night setting was merely binary (checked or unchecked). It might be a good idea to give folks a slider to darken or lighten the clouds in order to coincide with the rest of their HDR and ReShade settings. You probably already know this (I'm assuming you wrote the code for the tweak in the first place) but for the line: float kk = X + saturate(fGreen/(cb_mFogColor.g + 0.00001) - 2); Where X=1 is the standard tweak, raise X, perhaps in 0.25 increments, to darken, or lower down to 0, also in 0.25 increments in order to brighten clouds. Just a thought. Again, awesome work.
  21. No issues with PTA 1.61 here. In fact, after some tuning, P3D looks better than ever. Ahmet: it looks like a terrain shader got corrupted or like Yuri says, it hasn't loaded (truth be told it shouldn't take longer than a minute or two). I wonder if PTA didn't dump your shader cache like it was supposed to (I've never had an issue).
  22. Call it an appeal to authority but I have to assume there is some reason why this is the case. But maybe not: X-Plane isn't so wildly CPU-bound. I think there are very few here and elsewhere that actually understand the ESP architecture enough to give us some salvation in terms of answers. I know I sure as hell don't have any...
  23. The version number, like in a lot of software, is on the "About" page under the "Help" menu.
  24. That's the PTA. Latest version is 1.6. Pe11e's realism pack is just a collection of [amazing] settings and textures. His version number is for his and our own sanity only; it's not noted anywhere else since, again, it's just a soft collection of things. Hope that makes sense...
