Another legendary guide from Elaine - thanks very much. -
Which graphics card for QOTS II
Orbitandy replied to shally17's topic in PMDG 747 Queen of the Skies II
I tend to agree - I'm still on a 3770K and paired it last year with a 1070, very pleased with the results I was seeking. -
Good tip, thanks Kyle.

This happened to me yesterday on a flight from OMDB-YSSY - left the PC running and came back to the advisory "fuel imbalance" EICAS message. I learned from the manual that this meant there was a fuel difference of 2,720 kgs between inboard main tanks (2 and 3) and outboard main tanks (1 and 4) after reaching FUEL TANK/ENG condition. Mine had reached a 4 ton difference. Message no longer displays when difference becomes less than 450 kgs so I proceeded to apply the mitigation. The manual instructs that fuel may be balanced: • between main tanks 1 and 4 by opening crossfeed valves 1 and 4,closing crossfeed valves 2 and 3, turning off the fuel pumps in the low tank, and turning off the override pumps in main tanks 2 and 3 • between main tanks 2 and 3 by turning off the fuel pumps in the low tank • longitudinally by opening all crossfeed valves and turning off the fuel pumps in the low tanks. I managed to balance the queen after an hour or so and the message went away - interesting lesson learned but rather satisfied I was able to succesfully apply QRH. The logic behind the message was impressively simulated by PMDG, which is why I'm so amazed by the level of fidelity demonstrated by these products.

This is great - thanks very much for converting these. Andy

I have both the Virtualfly yoko and TQ6 quadrant - solid devices, no doubt. Using FSUIPC I can basically turn the quadrant into almost anything I want, although I'm looking into finding a way bringing the prop handles to the same height as the throttles when flying the 747. I still fly around my GA fleet, so the TQ6 is right for me. That FSXthrottle store offers very decent devices for the money though.

Flying with live traffic!
Orbitandy replied to kiek's topic in PSXseeconTraffic for FSX | P3D | MSFS
Very intteresting program, well done. I'd love to give this a go but I don't have any AI traffic software installed - what do for models/liveries in this case? Thanks -
Howard, I'm using nvidia 376.33, although in my experience didn't make much of a difference. Older versions of Aerosoft airports like LPPT indeed have this issue which I solved by using a patch from simmershome.de - need to register (for free). Look for the AS international light pack I think. It gave more run for my older stuff. RWY's look good and I have blue taxiway edge lighting at LPPT.

PMDG QUEEN OF SKIES PERFORMANCE IN GENERAL
Orbitandy replied to Not_Boeing_Not_Going's topic in PMDG General Forum
Yep, that's about what I'm getting on my rig, perhaps a tad more in VC. P3D is on medium to high settings. -
[31JAN17] PMDG Queen of the Skies II: Cleared for takeoff!
Orbitandy replied to rsrandazzo's topic in PMDG General Forum
Thank you PMDG for this quality product - purchase, download, ops centre update/config and install all very smooth. Just finished a quick 90min flight - very happy to be back flying her since switching to P3D some years ago. Quality finish -
PMDG 747-400 Queen of the Skies II finally released!
Orbitandy replied to Hamilton_'s topic in The Prepar3d Forum
oh yeah, just checked my account, purchased 10/25/2005 = so FS2004 - $54.99 back then, hmm... I've been flying the LOWW-EKCH tutorial route the past few days since I also purchased the FSL A320, so decided to fly it with the queen. Comaparable results allround I must say, both aircraft departed Flytampa LOWW with 1.5 VAS and arrived at dusk Flytampa EKCH with .51 remaining - all very smooth @ 22-25 fps in VC and pretty much at my fixed 31 fps outside views. Only issue I noticed was no ground lights illumination on landing/taxi with the 747 - need to investigate... -
PMDG 747-400 Queen of the Skies II finally released!
Orbitandy replied to Hamilton_'s topic in The Prepar3d Forum
Last time I purchased the queen was in 2005 for FSX - time flies! oh boy, PMDG and FSlabs in a space of a week = $$$ -
Yeah, had similar results when I upgraded my GTX680 to a 1070 last summer. As I'm running a 3 x LG27" setup (5760x1080) with lots of ORBX, payware airports, the 680 was always at the limit and unable to run HDR or volumetric clouds. All settings, while by no means maxed out, have gone up a notch, which is nice. Now, FPS 22-30 (fixed 31) but always smooth, even with dense clouds. Will keep me going until a new pc build later this year.

FSLabs A320 for P3D - so is it worth it?
Orbitandy replied to Jetset408's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
Having flown PMDG for as long as I can remember, took the plunge and purchased the FSlabs A320. Just completed the tutorial, coming in to FlyTampa EKCH at dusk. All I can say is wow. Very impressive system level depth and scope. OK performance as well starting with 1.5 VAS at FlyTampa LOWW and ending with .52. FPS between 22-30 (fixed at 31). Dunno what they did with v193 but they got it where it runs smooth on my system. Tomorrow will try same flight with AS16. Using a Thrustmaster T16000 joystick - very nice and smooth. Money well spent, no doubt for me. -
I've been looking around to replace my trusted Saitek cyborg 3D joystick with a quality yoke for use in P3D/PMDG. I have come up with either the Yoko or the new 737 desktop yoke from ACE which has a decent price tag. I know the Yoko is a good product but it's price demands I research carefully. While there are a number of user/technical reviews on the Yoko there's not much around on the ACE. I checked their Facebook account and via a review could check the insides of the product but could form a conclusion and also seemed unsurprisingly rather sponsored... Has anyone here received the ACE desktop yoke or have any advice? thanks, Andy
