  1. Good to see the MSFS has encouraged folk to raise the bar. Brilliant work.
  2. Good to hear. Like I said.......Fine Tuning🙂 Really enjoyed the FS2004 DC-3 and used the Manfred Jahn one on FSX. I won the Tongass Fjords Scenery Package using it in a Screenshot Comp back yonder. So many hours of enjoyment.
  3. There's been some savage criticism of some other releases on the official forum, very unpleasant and unnecessary some of it IMO. It could be that AH are just holding back and going over the product to make sure it doesn't upset too many people. Fine tuning🙂 .......just an optimistic guess. From what I've seen it looks good and sounds good but I'll wait for the reviews before deciding.
  4. Played that to death back in the day. The mighty Eighth.........Back at the turn of the century
  5. When I was 8 or 9 someone bought me my first Airfix model.......a PBY Catalina. Oh what joy. When finished I thought it looked absolutely marvellous. A decent MSFS version would be good.
  6. .....and just for balance there are some folks that are happy with it. Personally, I'm not flying it anymore. I followed the thread on the official forum and to be honest the bad mannered and abusive comments from some of the the forumites put me right off the mod.
  7. The DC-3 was always a favourite in FSX and I would like a quality one for MSFS but I'll wait for reviews of the Aeroplane Heaven model.......I'll wait for the users verdicts before I buy. It seems to be taking them forever, maybe that's a good sign.🙂
  8. Yes, the low hanging fruit does seem easy to harvest, particularly because as the years roll by the fruit tends to hang lower😉
  9. I too do not appear to have "Rudder Assist" option, only auto rudder. (edit. Just read previous post which went up as I was typing this. Thanks Bob) I found that adjusting the extremity dead zone in joystick sensitivities helped.......but........the setting isn't saved so I have to adjust it every session.
  10. Quite often in my world map it will not let me add waypoints. I can select arrival and departure but not add waypoints. I have to come out of world map and then go back in, it then lets me add waypoints.
  11. I do use the frame counter from time to time but apart from that no. Thanks.
  12. I think the message "SDK update available" has been on my screen since my first days with the sim. It's only there when I switch the SDK on in developer options, I do use the FPS counter from time to time. Is there any reason to update it if I don't use it for anything else?
  13. Are the improvements with stutters just apparent when flying in Iberia or are the improvements global?
  14. The update process seemed more straightforward this time on PC with a store purchased installation. Started the sim and then straight to a download screen, when that had finished the sim started and then to content manager for the updates by region. Currently flying from Pamplona to Barcelona in the stock 172 glass cockpit. All seems smooth and good to me at this stage. A nice flight.

    Any Sailors here?

No, Indeed not. Different kinds of enjoyment, different kinds of fun.🙂 And after a days racing dinghies a different kind of BS around the bar. Nobody can BS like a sailor.

    Moon Mission...

Absolutely, I totally agree with you apart from the last sentence, and then the disagreement is only with regard to context. Landing on the moon could not ever be achieved by an individual or even a group of individuals. Impossible without a collective approach and the result was glorious, almost miraculous. A shining example of what can be achieved in more easy going times. I guess the point I was clumsily making is that the idea of learning useless facts being a waste of time is possibly true if viewed from the context of the individual. If viewed from the perspective of the human race as a whole then maybe there is no such thing as a useless fact. I can pass this otherwise useless stuff on to somebody else who may find it useful. Through most of our evolution we haven't been able to write stuff down or use the internet. It would make sense that we have evolved an instinct to gather info regardless of it's immediate usefulness. We have the ability to pass it on as a gift or we can trade it to everybody's mutual benefit.......I guess that's what everyone does on this forum anyway.

    Moon Mission...

I was wondering what we had learned as individuals about the Apollo missions and the moon.........and whether it was useful to us as individuals? Edit I have since learned that Buzz Aldrin doesn't like Moon Landing Deniers

    Moon Mission...

I think all philosophies and principles become absurd if taken to the extreme but that's just my view. A time to every purpose.........or as Noel put it: another tool in the toolbox to be used as and when it's required.

    Moon Mission...

Different pressures on both the kids and parents these days. Rote learning still has a place imo. If memory is a learned skill and I think it is, then the exercise from the process is helpful even if the facts learned aren't........just don't over do it😂

    Any Sailors here?

Here's a pic taken at our club 2009ish during a Catamaran Open event (race) Just so everyone knows what a Hobie 16 looks like:

    Any Sailors here?

I just knew there'd be some sailors on here and your description of power V's sail is spot on. I can't say I enjoy doing power boat at the club because we sometimes have to get up close to sailors who may be in the water and they usually end up in the water because it's rough.....Giant meat blender at the back end of the rib. Careful, very careful. and 188AHC: There's a few Hobie 16's at the club. The ultimate beach Cat, great fun and quick.

    Any Sailors here?

Anything on the water is good fun and Guernsey is a great location for it. Probably better weather generally than where I am🙂 We use ribs for our safety boats.

    Any Sailors here?

That is a beautiful boat and what a fantastic location🙂 Is that you in the boat? Here's one of me and my wife on Chichester Harbour.
  24. I enjoy flight sims (clearly) but I have to admit it's not my first love when it comes to pass times. The sport I enjoy most during my leisure time is sailing, fortunately my wife enjoys it also (don't go there😉)........ Two person sailing dinghies like you might see in the Olympics, at a club on the south coast of the UK where we race. It's a fantastic sport with lots of flying (flightsim) crossover considerations.......Total concentration, can get quite technical, safety and responibility are paramount, weather is a big feature, a big vertical wing or 3 depending on boat type (3 in our case), under water wings, rudder, centre board instead of aerofoils..........sailing is a hell of a lot cheaper though🙂 We do occasionally do the bigger yachts but it's not quite the same. They tend not to be so responsive or immediate. The difference between a go cart and a truck. Ther are a drawbacks: Going sailing is not something you can do if you have a spare hour, it's an all day commitment. The weather can cancel a days sailing, this might happen about 20% of the time. The wind needs to be between say 5 knots (to overcome the tide) and 27 knots (unless your an olympian and then slightly more). Top end wind strength strength does depend on ability and boat type. Good visibility essential, Rain can be horrible.......We don't go out if it's too cold but the youngsters do. At our club we have to do RYA power boat courses as well so that we can crew the Safety boats when it's our turn to help with the racing. Any light aircraft pilots out there? if so, what weather conditions keep you on the ground. Does it happen very often? Any other sailors out there?
  25. Can't understand why this thread, which is about an update for simple traffic, has got so much AIG propaganda on it.
