    Awesome!

I hear Awesome loads, plus other superlatives. It is irritating but seems to be part of a bigger trend. Exaggerated descriptions or inflammatory language. Some of the media outlets in the UK are terrible in this respect. Minor irritation between two parties becomes "Rage". Disagreement becomes "Hate" and a desire to oppose becomes a "Jihad".........inflammatory language or over the top superlatives with very little room for nuance. Polar opposites everywhere and very little middle ground. Regarding insincere automatic responses.....I guess we all know when we hear them if they are sincere or not. We have evolved to spot the difference, sound, body language, past experience of a person or situation. If you want a sincere greeting in a restaurant try Greece, particularly Crete. If you want insincere try most major cities. A generalisation I know but hey😉
  2. Looked before I bought. Read the blurb before I bought. I knew what it was and then paid up so absolutely no complaints here. It gives a good background feel to the airports IMO. Glad they've given it some more attention.
  3. Carl Sagan always good to hear. The video did rather put me in mind of an old kids tv program called the Clangers.

    Awesome!

I wonder what word they use when they see something truly awesome?

    Good news....

Good for you. The annual clock adjusting is a right pain over in the UK. The British government did experiment with making the 1 hr advance permanent in the late 60's but reverted back to annual adjustments in the early 70's. I seem to remember some very dark mornings going to school. @50deg 52' N where I am.
  6. Tried it earlier today. It's definitely improved my performance. Much smoother in airports. No detrimental side effects noticed yet, repeat yet.
  7. Always a pleasure to see something by the Grateful Dead live😉😁
  8. Sad but true of every "bloke" forum I've ever been on. This Kodiak although brilliant in many respects is a right pig when it comes to killing speed. Some of these fixes will no doubt help.
  9. Absolutely, Discovery dreck (new word for me. Anyone know the origins?😄) Followed Star Trek from it beginings. Mostly Brilliant. Best movie Wrath of Khan. Montalban hammed it up brilliantly. The spattering of Moby Dick was inspired. Best incarnation 2nd Generation or Voyager or Enterprise in spite of the timeline issues. Best Captain Picard (or Kirk especially in Wrath of Khan) Worst villains Klingon......folk that stupidly aggressive wouldn't' survive beyond their stone age. Best Villains Borg. Sadly the series Picard was good in the first series but alas and very, very sadly Patrick Stewart seems to have aged beyond the credibility of the part in the last couple of years IMHO.....a cracking actor in his prime. (Sejanus in "I Claudius" where he plays a very nasty piece of work). Hat off to him though.
  10. Saw Fitzcarraldo years ago. Very good film. The cinematography was absolutely beautiful. Nosferatu.....mmmm, it still works for me.😨
  11. Indeed. Like many in the world I have a (what I consider) healthy cynicism when it comes to news/media/information delivered to us free over the internet. I ask myself the question "what does the publisher want us to believe?" and "why do the publishers want to push us in a certain direction?"............financial gain possibly?
  12. No spikes at EFHF for me. Tried various settings: Terrain level of detail, terrain vector data and photogrammetry on and off, still no spikes.
  13. Spikes never entirely disappeared on my machine. PNG has quite a few for example. Will check EFHF.
  14. Interesting Video even though the odds against it being true are billions to one. Personally I'm not a believer but I have old friends who are.
  15. On the Kodiak: The "advisory" notification on the PFD's keeps flashing and the softkey below no longer works for me. The flashing is annoying.
  16. Reading other folks experiences it seems to me there is a lot of variation in the process. For me the process was as follows: Remove contents of Community folder. No problem. Launch MSFS. No problem. MSFS reports update available through Microsoft store. I later find out that this is a lie. Click OK and MSFS launch closes and Microsoft store app opens automatically . No Problems. So nice of them to take me to the right place🙂 Now where the Hell is the update??? Look everywhere on the store but no update option???? After a few expletives I open the Xbox app and there it is. Why the dickens does it tell me the update is in the Microsoft Store when it clearly isn't. Update went smooth. Opened MSFS and went to contents manager and updated the flagged modules. Replace contents of community folder. To be fair it didn't take me long to work out, I have done this before so I know all about the MS booby traps.......but.......there must be folk out there who are updating for the first time.......sympathy to them. On a broader note. I reckon folks tolerance of minor irritations has been seriously and understandably reduced over the last couple of years. Hassles and stressors are accumulative, only a small issue you may think but pile it on top of lots of other small issues in life (plus one or two big ones) and.......................
  17. I can't argue with that 😉 Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.
  18. Exactly.😄 So many of the arguments on these forums about how the sim looks are a result of variations in eyesight. We all see differently.
  19. Thanks for the tip. I'm always keen to give these things a try. Unfortunately on my low to middle end PC with an average monitor I didn't notice any significant difference. Perhaps this is one for the 4K folks with young eyesight.😉
  20. The only time I have suffered CTD's in this game is on reloading a previously saved flight. Will they ever fix it? dunno but some of the many bugs, glitches and dysfunctional features in this game will probably never get fixed. Fingers crossed for this bug/dysfunctional feature though, it's an important one IMO
  21. Very little is rational when it comes down to it. Certainly much less than the average punter believes. Resource wise: If there is some spare room in top end PC's .......software developers will strive to use it. Be interesting to see what happens.
  22. Yep, my old machine is still doing alright with MSFS. I can't have all the sliders up to max but most are on high. In most cases the difference between high and ultra is very difficult to see with my tired old eyes anyway. So long as I get 30 FPS I'm happy The story may be different into the future though. As the addons get more complex and some of the features start to work properly (if and when they get fixed) I suspect the demand on my machine will get higher. PC specs in signature.
  23. 70's cool 😂.....I even wear glasses made of leather😉
  24. There's a few suggestions for third party remedies to the tree issues. I use addon workarounds for other issues so I can see the attraction but it really is a double edged sword. It rather reduces the urgency and the inclination for Asobo to address the issues. In general I think trees need some love for many reasons.
