According to this post by JV, PayPal have frozen a substantial part of their funds for over nine months: http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/139689-orbxdirect-hot-august-freezing-sale-48-off/?do=findComment&comment=1234942 I can understand why Orbx has no plans to reinstate PP if that is the case.

Now that we have a great sale what are the must have Orbx airports
fta2017 replied to warbirds's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
I believe Orbx is adding dynamic lighting to all its payware airports for free, I read JV mentioning that in a post on their forums. I assume those updates will be rolled out through FTX Central. -
BM is no different to FTX Vector - they both attach lights to real-world vector data. Also it's not true that Vector/Global don't allow customisation - there is an FTX Lights Configurator that gives you a lot of control over the colour and size of the various lights. There are also many different coloured lights imbedded into the Orbx landclass textures themselves. Frankly I am not sure why anyone would invest in BM when Orbx has provided this for years already with Global/Vector/openLC. Also remember they upgraded all their FTX regions and openLC to include greatly ehanced city lighting including all motorways. Not an Orbx ######, but surprised people are not doing their homework before jumping in and buying what they already have.

Dynamic Lighting/Night Lighting in P3D v4
fta2017 replied to captain420's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
Who flies at night? 99.5% of my flights are in the daytime, the others at dusk. All this raving about XP11's night lighting is just trolling by XP fan boys who yet again are bashing a new sim entering the market. Serious chip on their shoulders and it seems to poisoning almost every topic these days. -
Prepar3D v4 New York - London with ORBX night & day

You hack Orbx software into your P3D4 setup and then blame them for bugs? Seriously, stop being such an a ss -
Lockheed Martin shares up more than 2% today

If you use Microsoft Office it still uses legacy code from 1992 or earlier. If you use an ATM or credit card your bank is still using old code from the 1960's written in FORTRAN Using old, proven, debugged, legacy code is not a bad thing, it's a good thing. -
You have not listed Orbx airports, which will all work fine in V4 but newer airports using objectflow.dll will need to wait for that DLL to be updated, according to JV http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/135405-prepar3d-v4-64bit-orbx-preview-4k-screenshots/?do=findComment&comment=1200775 Vector will not work from day one but they are working on it.

No that is RealAir's Legacy JV is showing
-
Not really an unbiased review, since Jessica already develops and publishes a ton of DLCs for Dovetail for FSX:SE and clearly wants to do the same for FSW
-
MouseLook works; press and hold the spacebar for temp mouse look or SHIFT+O for permanent toggle. Just like FSX actually
-
It's always about the money! I know of a few people who have become millionaires from FS development, but they tend to not brag about their success or wealth. There would be at least a dozen companies who turnover more than $1m a year just from FS addons; it's not hard to guess who they are.
-
Expecting a new sim based on FSX to have a brand new terrain system is wishful thinking. FSX renders terrain based on textures mapped to a landclass lookup table with vector data laid over the top. That is a fundamental design of the engine (as it was for MS Flight and is for P3D). If you want a completely new terrain system DTG would have been better off licensiing Unigine or even Aerofly as base engines and building their own terrain tech on top of them. It rather amuses me that seasoned simmers here read "built on FSX technology" and "using FTX Global" but expect DTG to wave a magic wand and deliver a brand new terrain system.

Made specifically for entertainment perhaps?

Well I earned two reputation points for my comment, it must have struck a chord (and clearly a few nerves). So an honest question then: is it reasonable for "seasoned flight simmers" with thousands of AVSIM posts to add links to competing flight sims in a topic discussing a new entrant to the market? Does this not seem a case of oneupmanship or elitism? Why is there a need to extol the virtues of another sim in this context? Don't you think it's disrespectful?
-
So funny how the FSW announcement and some screenshots brings all the X-Plane ###### out of the woodwork, trying to justify their choice of sim with links to videos and free tools etc. They seem awfully defensive to me. Perhaps FSW is a threat?

Not based on this post http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/129935-will-orbx-products-work-if-p3d-goes-dx12-64-bit/ - when pressed for more info JV goes all NDA corporate-speak
-
I don't think Orbx are going to charge for their addons to work with V4, this has been hinted at several times on their forums. For me at least a 64bit P3D with FTX Global, Vector, openLC and regions and their HD airports all installed by FTX Central 3 at no cost.... that is sim nirvana even with default aircraft.

Great tutorual, thanks!

Given the amount of money i've spent on buying most of the Oculus library of overprice mediocraty, AFS2 is exceptional value. If you havent done so already get the DLCs for it. NYC is amazing as well.

H guys, first post here. I've been using AFS2 with my CV1 for a few months now and for me its the VR killer app, and that includes _all_ my Oculus library titles. What impresses me the most is the use of PBR lighting in the cockpit and how you can almost reach out and touch the rivets and screws. The fighter jet cockpits give me a feeling of being cold with all the metal surfaces, but the Cessna 'feels' somehow warmer and more tactile with its leather and cloth materials. Nothing I've used in the CV1 comes close to giving me that sense of 'being there' like AFS2 does.
