  1. As long as your P3D wasn't on your C drive (ick!), this works just fine; it's pretty much what I did when I got a M.2 drive. The only difference is that I put the M.2 in and copied stuff straight to it, then changed the drive letters to save an extra copying step.
  2. I do just fine with 2560x1440 with my 980Ti. :)
  3. A 1070Ti will run cooler and use less power than a 980Ti. So will a 1080. Maybe easier to find still, too. If you can fit that and a PSU and RAM into your budget that would work real nice.
  4. Your CPU supports PCI v3 and enough lanes to keep a good GPU happy.
  5. Prolly depends what add-ons. Those big study-level airliners like PMDG get pretty hungry I guess. I just fly GA planes, but with ActiveSky, Flight1 GTN 750, ChasePlane, and Track-IR. Worked OK on my old PC even (i7-2600), and super nice now. I think you'll be OK. If you have extra $$, having 16GB of RAM would also be nice after you do the GPU and power, though.
  6. GPU for sure. You have a K processor so you can overclock it even just make sure you have good CPU cooler and good fans on your case too.
  7. But with enough left over for the PSU? I'm pretty sure he'll need a bigger one... I think a 1070Ti is about equal to a 980Ti, but with 2GB more of VRAM? My 980Ti still works nice for me...
  8. I had teh Baleric Islands X and the upgrade to "Pro" was real reasonable and looks lots nicer I thought.
  9. I think the GPU. I see GTX1070Ti on Amazon for < US$500. You can put the rest of your budget into a bigger power supply, like maybe a 750w one.
  10. Hm, FTX Central should be finding it then. Maybe ask over in the Orbx FTX Central help forum: https://orbxsystems.com/forum/forum/218-orbxdirect-and-ftx-central-3-support-forum/
  11. Did you run P3d once first? I don't remember if I had to do that with P3d, but with AFS2 I did.
  12. I hope you have a mesh like FS Global Ultimate NG to make the mountains look nice. The NA Regions for Alaska and down the coast are amazing if you don't have them...
  13. I have FS Global Ultimate NG and I'm real happy with it. :)
  14. Huge difference having OpenLC. I don't think LM has done anything to the landclasses?
  15. I use Pilots' FS Global Ultimate NG mesh plus Orbx Base, Vector, and OpenLC North America (also South America and Europe) and it works real nice for my area. For places that there's an FTX region, that adds another level of detail.
  16. Wierd; all I did on my P3D v4.4 is install the plane and run its config to set the planes options. And it showed up real nice so I could pick it in P3D.
  17. I have a 980Ti working just fine with my 2560x1440 Dell S2716DG monitor. :)
  18. If you like a lot of variety, Pacific Northwest, Pacific Fjords, and Southern Alaska will let you fly anything from airline type routes to bush flying. And sooooo pretty! :)
  19. New Vertx DA62 (from one of the makers from RealAir) for twin piston. I also like the MilViz Cessna 310R Redux. Turbine there was the RealAir Turbine Duke V2 that I'm so happy to have. And another vote for the Flysimware Cessna 441 Conquest II. I think the Aerosoft Twin Otter Extended is real nice too, and you can have floats and skis, too, for some fun bush flying. :)
  20. Sean's email is on the Vertx website, on top.
  21. Maybe they can make one right here on AVSIM even... :)
  22. If it's microstutters you're having trouble with; there's a thread right by this one on how turning off hyperthreading on the CPU fixes that.
  23. I think they still can once you use up all your RAM and virtual memory swap space (on the disk).
