  1. No and no. I returned my G2 yesterday for the exact same reasons you mention. It was more or less useless in flightsim. I had to point my headset and nail sweetspot like a sniper in order to get the runway in focus during approach. Also, when looking around it was a constant combination of sharpness and blur at the same time and that messes with your brain. Doesn't feel immersive at all. I will give it a shot again in 3-4 months. Hopefully the units sold then will be more consistent. Because when it is sharp...holy mother of all that is good and pure!
  2. I miss it like crazy. Not saying I don't appreciate VR now but man...that instant feeling of hope and joy when you try VR for the first time and in a flightsim... word not allowed.
  3. Everytime I start in VR mode I get the press "VR Camera Reset" key and I can't figure out how to proceed? I press all keys on keyboard and on hand controllers but nothing works
  4. Thanks a mill for that. I only have the official tool by Oculus. Does this work with the Quest2 Linked as well?
  5. This was my biggest VR experience in 3 years since that "WOOOOAH...WHAT?" feeling when you entered VR for the first time. Even with low settings, the world looks amazing in the G2. I didn't even think about the tiny sweetspot in G2 (which basically makes the scene look sharp AND blurry at the same time in flightsims). I flew the default Cessna and was mindblown. In 25 years I have never EVER touched the Cessna. The potential in this thing is nothing short of amazing. And equally expensive. My 8700K and 1080ti struggled really hard to get smooth FPS even with low settings so I figure I need a new rig. Or at least GPU. In my opinion, Xplane is not really close here. It's the combination of real map textures, lovely aircraft textures and that incredible lighting in FS2020 that makes it stand out in VR like nothing else. Microsoft can finally claim that "As real as it gets" slogan again. Now...please optimize!
  6. 02:35 - screen in the background. Not sure which GPU Asobo used here but that should give you and idea about performance with the G2. As expected...max out your creditcards and get the beefiest card money can buy 🙂 That said...this could of course be early in the project when code was not optimized. Either way...VR will be a dream once the FPS are up there.
  7. I got my G2 last saturday and was like a kid on christmas. After a long wait and countless emails and phonecalls to HP Store I finally got my headset. Good times....right? Sadly, that feeling slowly started to fade to grey when I noticed the limited sweetspot. At first I wondered if they edges were not clean after removing those plastic protectors but no...after cleaning the issue is still there. It's not about me not being able to find the sweetspot. I am in it and everything in the sweetspot is crystal clear. Like real life and truly amazing and for sure a new VR generation. However, moving your pupils juuust outside that little area and you suddenly notice the sharpness falloff. And it starts early and aggressive. To give an example: During final approach I have my eyes focused on the runway. If I have my head in the right direction (takes a few moments to get it right) I can see the runway crystal clear miles and miles away. It really feels like real life. However, keeping an eye on the gauges at the same time is simply not possible without moving your head downwards quite dramatically in order to keep everything in that little sweetspot. Imagine you're in an Airbus looking at the runway and need to check your speed. You quickly look down to confirm...the gauge is blurry. As I mentioned, you physically have to move your head down to keep gauges in sweetspot. This totally ruins the immersion for me. My CV1 is better. Yes, obviously way worse resolution, screendoor and overall bluriness but it is more consistent and even. Maxing out SS on the CV1 makes the cockpit look very good throughout the frame. That is NOT the case with G2. Also, when looking around at the scenery, either for navigation or just enjoying the sim you're in a combination of sharpness and blur at the same time and it messes with your brain. It is sad and I am torn since the sweetspot is SO word not allowed good and surprisingly, the G2 runs very well on my 1080ti. I am able to run Xplane with decent settings AND some SS on top of that. I was NOT expecting that. But then again, nor was I expecting the display/lens tradeoff. It is a shame really because HP has something here that has the potential to destroy everything in its path. And they failed with the lenses (shipment and FOV is a separate story but I would happily accept that if it weren't for the lens design). Maybe it works fine in other games, but for flightsim I can't accept this tradeoff. Sadly, for me there are no other alternatives right now since I've seen what it can look like. Valve Index; If you are listening; take that Index, slam the G2 highres display in there, finetune the lenses, keep the FOV and call it a day. Ps. I also find the blacklevels quite bad. Nightflying is not the same anymore - but not a showstopper.
  8. That's not good news. Looks like I will keep FS uninstalled and stick with Xplane for a little longer then. I really hope Asobo will get this fixed because you just can't beat that scenery.
  9. Just out of curiousity, can all issues with the AP, general flight dynamics etc be solved by changing the aircraft itself? I.e can we expect great out of the box performance when the first payware airliners show up, or is it also in the source code of the flightsim itself? I know the FBW version is heaps better than the default, but when I fly the Toliss A321 in Xplane, there difference is MASSIVE. Now, I understand that it is not fair to compare it with a 3rd party aircraft that costs more than FS2020 itself, but my point is if the potential is there in FS as well or if the code is holding it back
  10. Reverb G2 - for flightsim I think it is by far the best. However, running that in FS2020 will probably require one the best GPUs available. I wouldn't go lower than 3080
  11. I really enjoyed the first release when launched. Scenery was great and performance too. The only thing missing for me (granted a big one) was proper flight models in the airliners but that can be improved with payware aircraft down the road.
  12. What kind of changes? Did the latest update lower the CPU performance?
  13. thanks, pretty much my setup as well - 8700K + ROG STRIX 1080ti OC. Although I have only 16GB RAM@3000. So you can run Xplane in the Reverb with smooth FPS? Do you need to reduce the settings?
  14. Are there any payware/freeware engine soundpacks available for the airliners? I find the default sound a bit off and would love to get the sound from BSS for example.
  15. What kind of hardware are you using and how is your performance in Xplane? I am waiting for my headset. Scheduled for delivery on friday. Can't wait. I am currently using the CV1 so I expect the improvment to be big. With the CV1 I always stop after a shorter flight because it feels... to blurry. It's fun and immersive but something is missing. Especially on those long-haul flights. Everything looks the same...a blurry mess.
  16. ToLiss A321 + BSS Soundpack. During normal flight, sound is perfect but when using replay and during taxi/takeoff/landing, there is a very bad sound - like there's a failing connection/glitch between my headphones and the computer. But only on the ground so I am guessing it is the rolling effect or something. Anyone else noticed this or have any ideas how to fix it? Very annoying during replay.
  17. what do you think, will an i7 8700K with a 3080 (if I can get my hands on one) run VR on the Reverb G2 with good FPS and high settings? Or is my CPU the limit here?
  18. I uninstalled FS2020 1.5 months ago and went back to X-plane 11. Yesterday I purchased the ToLiss A321 with the BSS soundpack. Oh.....my....GOD!! That combination is pure gold. All I need is some new scenery. Haven't been here for a while. Came back today just to check how the MS updates are going. As I suspected, clearly not in the right direction so I am really glad I pulled the trigger on the ToLiss which will keep me in the air (both mentally and simwise) until Asobo or someone else has fixed FS.
  19. Taxi down to the runway, spool up your engines, then reduce power and taxi back to gate 😁 Anyway...at least download Flybywire A320 mod. That one should keep you in the air.
  20. Before I do anything I might regret - I am planning to reinstall windows from scratch. Fresh and clean to make sure no junk in the system is slowing it down. I have FS2020 installed on a separate SSD. Do you think the installation will still work? Because, to qoute chief Brody in JAWS 2 - "I am not going through that hell again..."
