  1. No it is very easy to install to any folder (all the data files that is). This is done during the install process. The process will ask you where you want to install. It provides a default in the multi-layered user directories but I just chose c:\MSFS. This folder now contains my Community folder and the Official folder (one above Onestore). This means that whenever I install any community stuff I never have the long folder name issue. If you make a backup of the Official and Community folder, then uninstall MSFS, then do a clean install but when the installer asks where you want it installed choose a folder like I did rather than the default. Once you have done that and it starts to install then pause/crash out of the installer. Copy over your backup and run the installer again. Job done. CJ
  2. In the modern world on-line videos have taken over. Backed up by forum discussion and FAQ docs. CJ
  3. I have the latest Win 10. I have MSFS on my Windows drive. My pagefile is automatically managed by Windows. I have had MSFS since it was released and use it pretty much daily. My pagefile is 2.4GB. I suspect the problems above are not down to MSFS. CJ
  4. I think that, sadly, the survey questions are a little lacking. A question like 'Which is your favorite flight sim?' would have been good. For the developers 'Which flight sim are you likely to invest in most in the next year?'. CJ
  5. You CANNOT merge the data as it is how much do you fly each piece of software. So if someone says 50% Xplane 11 and 50% MFS2020. Then a second person says 50% xplane 11.5 and 50% MSFS202. You don't get a combined figure for xplane of 100% and MSFS 50%!!! To do any sort of merge you would need to do a weighted average. The most anyone merged sim figure could be is the highest single version figure but will most likely be a fair bit lower than that, Equally the question where it says have to changed your main flightsim this year. The No figure is quite high, I would argue as there will be many people like myself who have ONLY used MSFS2020 so we have not changed we have only used MSFS2020. CJ
  6. Well I was born at Clatterbridge Hospital, lived until 17 in Ellesmere Port and a friends father had a little Piper based at Liverpool. So it is pretty significant to me too!! Am temtped but holding off until I see what Asobo produce. Have the Maccosim Manchester though which is great and such a brilliant developer!! CJ
  7. Liverpool is supposed to be on of the hand crafted airports that Asobo are making fir the UK sim update. I would hold off buying this until I have Asobo's version. CJ
  8. XBOX is Microsoft's gaming brand across all platforms. So there is XBOX console, XBOX for PC and XBOX for android. At the moment Microsoft Flight Simulator ONLY runs on PCs that are running Windows. CJ
  9. Default 787 is working fine for me. Flight plan loads from MSFS map and AP follows the route perfectly. I currently only have the two Maccosim airports and Navigraph data in my community folder - nothing else. CJ
  10. For me the attraction of the FBW has reduced hugely with the latest work that Asobo has done on the original A320. I also can't stand the sound of the wheels hitting the runway lights on take off. Surely if the plane does not roll exactly down the middle of the runway you would not get these at all.
  11. Just flown the Airbus (MSFS version) from Manchester to Birmingham - what a joy. The ILS approach seemed a little complicated so in flight I did a direct to RW15 and it worked perfectly, not long after engaged approach mode and lovely landing with me flying last 100 feet. Very happy with updates for my favourite plane. Will try FBW again soon (my normal version of the Airbus) but was curious as to how the standard plane performed and it was excellent. CJ
  12. You didn't need to before - you just needed to check the box at the top. CJ
  13. I haven't got the kit to try this but suspect you need to tell the control system in MSFS to split the engine throttles over the two throttles rather than having one control all simultaneously. I can't try this as my hotas only has one throttle.
  14. There is at least one free addon in the marketplace already - Paderborn airport.
  15. Only airport in the world I have landed at where EVERYONE stops talking on approach. What an experience. CJ
  16. If Forza XBOX versus PC is anything to go by then the XBOX version of MSFS will be near identical to PC version. CJ
  17. Xbox will have both although wrt the add-ons only if available via the marketplace. My current peripherals can be unplugged from my pc and plugged into my Series X. CJ
  18. My daughter's MS Surface Pro 6 will play it and it is a tablet. Further you can 'play' any XBOX game on your Android phone with a Bluetooth Xbox controller linked to your phone (Xbox effectively beams visuals to phone and takes controller inputs from phone). Xbox owners can use disc, paid download, Game Pass download. If their device does not have a disc drive then they can't use disc option (Xbox One S and Xbox Series S). The pressure from gamers to keep discs is so that they can be traded after playing. Downloads can't be traded although there is limited sharing (two friends can share one game). CJ
  19. Consoles typically match the in game performance of a top spec pc when they are first released through a combination of high spec tightly integrated electronics and highly optimised code for precisely those electronics. After a couple of years the pc will start to pull ahead again as new electronics are used to upgrade the pc. It does take some time for the pc to pull ahead as developers really start getting to really optimise the console code post launch. For those that have invested in a very high end pc with multiple screens and peripherals there will be little incentive to get a Series X but for the vast majority with a lower spec pc or are reluctant to spend big upgrading their pc then the Series X looks to be a very attractive option. CJ
  20. It has been in the content manager for a couple of months...
  21. On XBOX Gears 5, Call Of Duty, Sea of Thieves (three of the biggest games on the console) support mouse and keyboard. All the major driving games support wheel and pedal controls. Keyboard and mouse operation is the preferred choice for FPS games. CJ
  22. Xbox controller is Bluetooth to XBOX so wireless Keyboard and Mouse - fully supported now, use existing dongle (assume one dongle is used by mouse/keyboard combo Internet - either hard wired network cable into back of XBOX or built-in Wifi in Xbox to your router (no USB required) Joystick - uses second USB port on xbox but needs to have XBOX security chip on-board e.g. Thrustmaster HOTAS One and upcoming Honeycomb kit (not yet available).
