TBM 930 TBM 930 Coupled VNAV Non-Functional
RandallR posted a topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
I have been unable to get coupled VNAV to function at all in the TBM 930 since the AAU1 update. In its previous modded state w/the WT g3000 mod it gave an excellent indication of the descent rate and indicated the next step in altitude. It also indicated the TOD. None of this was coupled to the AP in that iteration so I was really looking forward to this update. It's obvious that coupled VNAV is working for some. thecorporatepilotdad YT video on using VNAV for descent control in an ILS approach showed that it was operational, at least for him, so it must be something that I'm doing incorrectly? I have set up in the following manner: Set the altitude of the FAF in the PFD Verified that the proper procedure is loaded in the g3000 and the proper altitudes are assigned to each fix Enabled VNAV in the GTC Enabled VNAV in the AP I get nothing. Sometimes a "PATH" indicator comes on in the PFD but no TOD appears on the MFD map now and the AP will not initiate (nor indicate) a descent. Any ideas? -
It took me a while, but I finally broke down to hand over $70 for this plane. I'm speechless. The detail and dynamics of this plane are simply outstanding. The HUGS display is a great feature as well. I do have a few questions though, having only owned this plane for a few hours. First, does the altitude hold (on the auto-pilot panel) override the VNAV path? I found a few times during a KLAX-KLAS run that the plane missed it's TOD and some other crossing restrictions; however, I have a feeling it's because the altitude hold restricted it from descending further. Second, does an accidental knock of the joystick override the LNAV. A few times the LNAV popped off, probably by me subconsciously pushing on my joystick.Third, does this plane have a "direct" function? For ex, ATC gives a short cut to a fix that isn't my next fix. Fourth, I've heard of a "descend now/present position" function. Where is this, and how is this applied?I'd appreciate any responses. Thanks and happy holidays.Kyle

There's something I noticed during climb-out with the 737 NGX.This "problem" was on the previous 737 NG and can be still found within the 737 NGX (even with SP1 installed). After take-off in N1 + LVL CHG mode I select VNAV when the flaps are fully retracted. The FMA says then N1 + VNAV / LNAV path. This does not correspond with the MCP however, because the N1 button is not illuminated, only the VNAV and LNAV buttons. Is this going to be fixed within a new update?PH-XRE

Hi Guys, I recently purchased the PMDG 737NGX and I have completed a few flights in it. However, on every flight, I've not been able to land the plane like I should be able to. I've been following LNAV and VNAV throughout the entire flight. My SID and STAR was entered correctly and everything appeared to be running smoothly. I was still on VNAV and LNAV when I was moments away from turning onto final. I had NAV 1 and NAV 2 armed. I engaged VOR LOC just before I turned onto final. The plane began to turn and then successfully lined up with the runway. After it had lined up I engaged APP expecting it to capture the G/S; somehow, I missed the G/S and had to descend manually. Now, I think the reason it is doing this is because I was going to fast. At the point of capturing the G/S I am normally traveling at a steady pace of 150KIAS; this time it was 220KIAS. I had speed brakes fully extended yet it made little difference. So I think the VNAV speeds are too fast and I can't slow down in time for my landing. I've been told that I should allow VNAV to bring the plane down during the initial decent but then descend at my own choice of vertical speed and my own speed input. If this is correct, how shall I slow down during my STAR. I know it's a strange issue but I'm only 14 so I don't have the broadest of knowledge for this complex aircraft. I need recommendations quite urgently if possible. Thank you.

I'm probably not the first one to report this, but for some reason my TOD is always off, resulting in the plane going into 6000fpm descent or even more often VNAV kicking off with the Descent path unachievable error on the FMC.No matter what I try it constantly does this, I always set the runway and the correct altitudes for the STAR yet it constantly happens, am I missing something here? I even try starting the descent early but no luck. Is this a bug or is it something I'm forgetting here?ThanksTrystan

I have been surprised when flying some GPS approaches to discover they have no vertical guidance in the simulator. The published approach seems to indicate LNAV capability, but no vertical is displayed in the sim during the approach. My question is if there is if some way to determine if VNAV capability exists for the anticipated approach at the sim airport during preflight planning. (I guess I just don't like surprises during an approach. 😧 ) I am using the RXP GNS 530/430 in P3Dv5. Thanks for any help or suggestions. Jesse

Hello, I am a recent customer of the RXP GTN 750 solution and I must congratulate RXP team. My question concerne the VNAV feature. I have the Carenado H850XP (P3Dv4.4) that i customized for GTN and it works fine except i'm not able to operate the vertical guidance with GTN (VNAV). The original Carenado H850XP is able to follow vertical guidance according to a flight plan if you turn on the VNAV button. I'm sure of that because i have used it many times. In Reality XP GTN User's Manual, one can read : Autopilot The GTN is capable of precise course deviation and roll steering outputs that can be coupled to the simulator autopilot so that IFR flight procedures may be flown automatically. It controls the simulator A/P system both horizontally and vertically. Maybe this problem is in connection with P3D 4.4 and maybe an update RTX is in progress about AP ... Is there someone who could help me ? Thanks in advance.

Today I encountered the following strange behaviour (tried two times, both same bahaviour, one time with AS4, second time without AS4): approach to LEMG to ILS Z 12 via PIMOS1DCQ arrival - inbound D011S everything normal, LNAV, VNAV PTH and HOLD - as soon as reaching D011S (why does she not turn before reaching -is it a must overfly wpt?) suddenly AT announces THR and the vertical path jumps to almost 2000 ft above.. - ca.20 seconds later again HOLD is announced (but I have to pull back the throttles of course) and vertical path is 450 ft above - then for ca. 2 minutes AT stays in HOLD letting rise the verical path without attemptimg to recover. then finally SPD announced and VP recovered Later on the vertical Path jumped up and done significantly two times more.... Also the other day approaching LGAV via KEA I had the vertical path jumping 8000 FT down suddenly, so decent was obviously started way too late....(But I cant get details for that right now as it takes too much time) So whats going on here...?? Is it me doing something wrong? Hopefully but I honestly dont think so...

Situation: Flying manually with A/T disengaged (A/T ARM off), FDs on in HDG SEL/ALT, SPD window open to appropriate bug speed. Setting up for an RNAV approach. I want to get VNAV PTH guidance on the approach, so I select VNAV on the MCP. Immediately A/T goes into SPD, window blanks, and target speed increases to DES. The first time I noticed this I was flying level at bug speed, when the A/T kicked in back to 240k it really upset the apple cart. Per FCOM 4.10.3, with the A/T Switch OFF, A/T activation is disabled. Is this something the real bird does?

Hello everyone, I am having an autopilot issue with my QOTS II . I encountered this problem since my first flight with the autopilot system. I set my route as usual following all the procedure. Also, I have already switch on FD then LNAV and VNAV on ground before takeoff. But as soon as I was airborne, I switch on the Left autopilot as it immediately show VNAV ALT and autopilot disengaged. I try to switch to center and right autopilot and the same problem happened again. Here is a screenshot of the problem.

HiHere follows my experience with VNAV "taking over" glideslope control down to minimums. 737-600 PMDG. ENVA RWY09, final turn, LOC ON making localizer to keep heading 088. VNAV taking care of descent to RWY09. Manually adjusting flaps to dropping speed. It worked very well. VNAV seemed to do a good job. At minimums A/T off, A/P off , then followed standard visual landing. Two critical questions ....how realistic scenario is this? And is there advantage using VNAV at approach? gura75

Hi my name is Alex Makoviecki. I recently got the PMDG 737NGX and I really... really love it! The only problem I have with it is descending. I am about thirty miles back from the TOD (top of descent) and I set in the altitudes in the FMC that I should be at for each waypoint and VOR for the OMN.HILEY2 STAR at Miami Intl. I was using a chart that shows you the altitudes for each waypoint and VOR. I then set the altitude for descent to 5000ft which was the altitude for one of the waypoints that I would descend to and stay at for a while until descending to the glideslope intercept altitude. When I reached the top of descent the engines went to idle and the aircraft started descending but then leveled out at 37000ft (my cruising altitude was 38000ft). I noticed that the FMC had a message that said DES PATH UNACHIEVABLE, that was weird because I set the right altitudes for each waypoint and VOR for exactly what they should have been. I got the aircraft to descend a little more by copying of the speed and altitude of the first descent waypoint and pasting it again on the same waypoint. But I only got the aircraft to descend to 32000ft. I also noticed that when I am climbing above 25000ft the aircraft slows down the climb to 1000fpm, compared to 1800fpm in other payware aircraft. I would appreciate some help here! Thanks,Alex.

Flying the Black Square Bonanza with the GTN750. Created a flight short flight plan from KHPN to KOXC. Received MGS on 750, "VNAV Unable upcoming flight plan leg not supported." Is that telling me one of my legs isn't in the database ? ? ? ? Thanks Walt
