Lear ALT HOLD issue

Featured Replies

Thanks Flysimware for the update!

For me everything works fine and I am finally able to enjoy this beautiful plane while cruising along on autopilot ;)

I have a new issue from adding more realism. We made it so the autopilot modes can't be turned on unless the ENG master AP mode is on. But this now causes a new issue. The FD can't be turned on with the autopilot off. I wonder how the real aircraft got around this. I was thinking of changing the SFT MODE to a FD MODE. What do you think?

Sounds like a reasonable compromise to me? Nice to have the FD work without the autopilot on.

I had a new thought. If you want the FD to follow the heading bug the HDG mode must be on. So this new update where all modes are off when the ENG mode is off makes no sense. I think what needs to happen is if the master AP switch on pilot panel is off then no modes will work. But if that switch is on and the ENG AP MODE is off the other modes will work for the FD.

Either an AFCS mode or the thrust lever GA button will activate the the FD, the SOFT mode is just a lower gain for the autopilot in turbulence so it does not chase parameters, in the sim it is not really needed.

The Autopilot Master switch on the left lower panel is what is used to power the AFCS and autopilot, if that is not on you don't get any AFCS modes or ability to engage the autopilot.

The logical choice would be that switch because as is it does not do anything. Might not be possible for your code but I would not know.

I am sending out V2.3 today. Sometimes when you do a huge update it can cause another issue that does not get caught right away. This is why i always try to update a reasonable amount each time. I want to say sorry for version 2.1 which had missing code causing some of the autopilot functions to fail.

As a small Company i hope you keep supporting me as I can't match what larger Company's can produce and test. But i think i do ok for a single developer and keep improving over the years. All of our products were made with GMAX and Flysimware now owns 3DS MAX. Our first release with 3DS will be the Grumman G-44 including all parts with AO effects which should bring out weakest area up a few notches. Thanks for continuing to support Flysimware.

VERSION 2.3 UPDATES: MARCH 11, 2016

Autopilot modes will now work if the pilots AP master switch is on. This allows the FD to function with the ENG MODE (autopilot) off.

The keyboard master AP function will not turn on unless the pilots AP master switch is on.

You're doing a great job as a new company, you have my support. I really enjoy both the Lear and MU-2 and looking forward to your G-44. Hang in their, our passion needs developers like you who listen to their customers and strive to make their product better....

Cheers

Martin

I think that's how every autopilot I've ever used in FSX works. BTW, on a different subject, do you think it would be possible to make the Steering Engage button larger in your next update? It is very difficult to steer in VC while looking down trying to find the button to engage the nose wheel. As you know, the button is very small. It looks like plenty of real estate in that area.

Thanks

Also it would be nice to add "info text" to the speed indicator so when I hover my mouse over it you can see what your IAS/TAS is and also Mach.

Thanks.

Many thanks for the update, and you alone do better than some bigger companies, be asured ;)

Steady updates keep users happy, and happy users will happily return because they know they get great service! :)

The last item that still bothers me is indeed the steering button.. I cannot get it to work using hardware input- maybe it will only work if you have acceleration installed?

A hidden clickspot on the upper panel would fix the problem that you have to look down, and go off the side of the runway while trying to get the clickspot.

I also tried today assigning the tail hook to a button on the joystick, but couldn't do it via FSUIPC as tail hook is not listed.

How did you guys do it?

FWIW, I think the support is very good considering the size of the company. I, for one, have no problem in continuing to support your company.

That's why we allowed you to assign the steer lock on to the tail hook keyboard assignment.

Using the default tail hook under key assignments. I just assign it to a button on my joystick.

This will only turn on the steer lock. To turn off use the MWS switch on the yoke or just wait until your above 45 knots.
